Okay so I'm watching one episode at a time and coming to your respective threads - so I can sort my opinions in turn for each, without already knowing what happened next.
As I've said before, DK is too far a memory for me to compare - but the way you're putting it out Nur, so far, I suppose we only have reason to be happy even in comparison? A happy discovery for sure!
Personally I loved how subtle the points were in this episode, how subtle, yet with so much alacrity. For some reason (part of which must be having forgotten the original storyline) I had a gut feeling Nidhi would opt out of the profession at this point. And for all the reasons you named Nur - not being blown away romantically by the earrings and blah - it did come as a very welcome twist at this point. I personally love the lead up to her opting out. The fact that both Dr. A and her own father free her from the obligations of any sort - and tell her to think it out clear and make up her mind is such a good base. Because any decision taken now, is completely her own prerogative - and in that light further, the fact that she decides to discontinue being a doctor really, really falls in line with her character. I would have been uber disappointed if they'd shown some momentary 'attraction' - which she doesn't even perceive like that for now, let's face it - or just some unknown ambivalence would have made her say yes to a professions she was literally 'praying' to be freed from in the first episode, not to mention that her 'dream profession' in her opinion lies quite somewhere else! So her 'no' at this point, especially given her free and independent decision - is logical, and of course gives us a good twist. I like very much
Again - Anji noticing a change in Nidhi was superbly projected! I'm going to give in hands down to how well touched up the portrayal was - Anji is absolutely not hinting anything about a possible romantic element at any point, and that is so apt, given Nidhi isn't feeling anything like that! Her intrigue with the earrings stems so much more from how unexpected it is as a gesture coming from Dr. Hardstone - who, let's not forget, has had an exceptionally out of line start with her. The fact that her intrigue has a positive vibe to it, rather than a wary one - is something again, that leads up so well for the alliance these two are eventually destined for, almost like that oh-so-subtle insinuation that her subconscious is already toying with a far fetched distant new beginning, although consciously, she is only but pleasantly surprised! And that Anji too reacts in accord with that faint 'positive vibe' and nothing more - gives more drama on THE SADU being nice, than on what 'allged' future this nicety can have - is very well done! 👏
Echoing you yet again, over Nidhi's dad - fantastic scenes, both at the morning jog, and again, at breakfast. Such potential OTT melodrama scenes, played out with such fine and subtle emoting! Thumbs up to him! 👏
And to not miss - what really made me think Nidhi was going to opt out, was the spring in her step, after the she woke up to her morning of decision. Her father's freeing her from the promise added to the emotion - but really, the way she went to that patient in the wheelchair - I was near certain she was going to opt out. She's the kind of character/person who wants to be of help - but being a doctor has been this kind of imposition for her, in her head - and the moment she's free to decide, there's that lightness about her! She eagerly helps, not out of 'medical' concern, but out of nature! And the moment Mallika tells Ashutosh she would have stuck around because women are fighters like that - I'm thinking, okay, one more reason Nidhi should opt out. If she's a woman who's a fighter - she will initially jump at this chance to fight for a profession she thinks is her ideal and not the chosen one. And then showing her find her way back to the right place will actually show so much more 'fight' - inner struggle - in sustaining! In the difference of their answers - the character difference of Mallika and Nidhi stands out! Mallika would fight even a half-hearted, seemingly hopeless cause unceasingly, believing it can yield some some day. Nidhi will take her chances, even whimsical at times, she's such a risk child, and then learn her lessons, gather the pieces from scratch again and fight her fight like that!
Overall - a good complete episode, with wonderful distribution of screen time and space.
