Few hours back I made a post about how confused I was with both, Dev and Sonakshi's behavior.
Why is Dev quietly going ahead with everything when he planned it himself and why is Sonakshi not saying anything when she admitted she loved him.
Also, the famous sorry of the precapđ
The answer lies in these lyrics

This was played for the second time in a row for Devakshi!
When they made eye contact before the engagement, silently looking at each other but not saying a word.
Dev heart says,
"Pal bhar me tere ho jaenge, koi ishara to karo"
He wants her to stop him now. He wants her to see it is miserable without her.
Just one signal from her and he would stop.
He could have stopped it himself right? But then, his only hope of seeing, rather making her realize she loved him, would be gone.
It is actually not giving up while I thought earlier, but hoping against hopes that she would finally stop the engagement even if it is at the last moment.
Sona's heart thinks -
"Tere bin kaha aur kidhar jayenge, zara samjha toh karo"
When she was told by Ishwari already that Dev was doing it to make her realize, there was no point of saying that Dev made the decision himself. She knew it was all fluke.
But like Dev wanted her to stop him, Sonakshi wanted Dev to stop it. .and understand it himself that she would have no one except him. She wants him to say it himself what Ishwari, Soha and golu. . Everyone is saying.
Maybe when she ran for the engagement, she thought Dev would automatically stop it. Because everyone made her believe so.
As soon as she entered, she saw them dancing, them going ahead with the ceremony, basically Dev waiting for her to speak. Which she never came for.
She entered not for confessing directly but she thought her arrival would automatically out a halt to everything.
This did not happen and it discouraged her.
Next, the infamous Sorry which pissed Dev offđ
Was it because she was disinterested? Obviously no! Was it because She felt sorry for ruining his life? No !
It was because now that Dev had confessed in front of everyone that He loved Sonakshi, Sonakshi was out of the risk of losing him forever.
She understood this guy ain't marrying anybody so this means I am safe from confessing my feelings.
Sonakshi would prefer to have the situation as it is, or as we say 'yathastithi' in Hindi. . To live without having to admit her feelings. .Rather than confess it directly that she loved him as much as she does.
Cancelling of engagement pushed her back to safe zone, she relaxed and quickly tried to push him back to the friend zone saying, She was sorry!đ
But Dev is not stupid! He understood where it is all is heading to again and sona is in no mood to realize or confess.. even when he broke the pehle aap chain. .đ
So he decides to pack his backs and leave all the drama, which again kicks the sense of urgency in Sona. . Which will ultimately lead to Confession 2.0.
Because Sona was waiting for Dev to take a step and she proposed him instead, that is why she was so excited while narrating the entire proposal to Elena in the spoiler video.
