This one is going to be a full musical update...
I have written so many updates with many many songs in one chapter...But this one is different... There are so many turns in one update, that I myself am feeling that this one will be a roller coaster ride... Don't worry, a good one...I hope you all will enjoy it...
Writing it... You might read it in the morning, or if you stay awake till the wee hours, then before sleep...
Chapter-3
Mehendi laga ke rakhna,
Doli saja ke rakhna,
Lene tujhe o gori,
Aayenge tere sajna...
Main ek jawaan ladka,
Tu ek haseen ladki,
Ye dil machal gaya toh,
Mera kasoor kya hai...
Rakhna tha dil pe kaaboo,
Ye husn toh hai jaadoo,
Jaadoo ye chal gaya toh,
Mera kasoor kya hai...
Rasta humara takna,
Darwaza khula rakhna,
Lene tujhe o gori,
Aayenge tere sajna...
Bose House was glistening up with the lighting and flowers that decorated the entire house for the sangeet ceremony that had to begin in some time. The house has been buzzing since morning when all the ladies from both the houses started applying mehendi, after the artists began with Sonakshi's mehendi.
Suhana had come to her mother's place right in the morning with her grandmother and Elena Maasi, promising to stay with Sonakshi until the wedding ceremonies begin.
The hullabaloo was voicing up, as all the family members were gathering together for the sangeet, who were done getting their henna applied, while Sonakshi's mehendi continued along.
Elena and Vicky seemed in full swing to dance in harmony this time, unlike the last time when Dev and Sonakshi got married. Choosing the iconic shaadi number from DDLJ, they looked in their element, teasing and dancing together.
Sonakshi looked alternatively at Dev and then at the dancing duo. She probably wanted to talk, but couldn't.
Elena ushered Dev and Sonakshi for a step or two in between their dance, since Sonakshi's mehendi would take a bit longer, and they wouldn't be able to dance.
Ab aur kuch na kehna,
Kuch aur na karna,
Ye dil ki baat apne,
Dil mein daba ke rakhna...
Her elbows resting on his palms, Sonakshi was swinging in synchronization with Dev's steps as they danced to their own tunes despite the song playing. She looked in his eyes, said nothing. He knew what she was saying, yet heard nothing. A long smile was playing on their lips even when the song ended, and everyone clapped. She slowly walked away from him, making sure none of her wet mehendi gets stuck on his pristine white sherwani.
They looked away; as she sat down to continue getting her mehendi applied. She couldn't get over the letter that she received this morning through Suhana. Dev has such beautifully put through his emotions; promising to never let the love and understanding between each other get any ounce less. He promised to not repeat his previous mistakes and took the responsibility to take care of this relationship like never before. Sonakshi was teary eyed seeing that letter. She always knew mistakes happened in her marriage last time; maybe major mistakes happened from Dev's side. But, it was never the fact that the mistakes happened only from his side and not hers. She was equally responsible for her relationship to fall apart, and she had nobody to blame for, at least not Dev alone. Though she couldn't answer his letter, but she knew she will let him know of her promises and vows as well...
Sonakshi batted her eyelids, as she saw her baba in a festive mood, a smile spread over her face seeing that he is up to something. He brought a Harmonium and sat down on the mattresses, and played it, while Elena hooted up in encouragement...
Aaj humare dil mein ajab ye uljhan hai,
Gaane baithe hain gaana, saamne samdhan hai...
Bijoy crooned in his best possible voice, setting up a very happy, jovial ambiance between both the sides. As decided, it was decided Ladkiwale will sing, while the Ladkewale will dance. As per the rule, Maamaji danced along with Ishwari, while it looked so happy all over... Until Asha sang the last bit...
Meri chaaya hai jo aapke ghar chali,
Sapna banke meri palkon mein hain pali,
Raaz ki baat bataayein, ye poonji jeevan ki,
Shobha aaj se hai ye aapke aangan ki...
Sonakshi looked away from the scene, her eyes poured out those salty waters that she knew she wouldn't be able to control much. It wasn't like her mother was giving her an adieu for the first time. They had sent her off to the same man before too with the same good faith that they have today, but the circumstances, the situations and the fear of the worse has reached a new level. Though lots of promises and trustworthy words have been exchanged, yet, Sonakshi's parents had such a fragile state of heart to send off their Shona again into the same household, with even a larger stake of Soha along with them. Whatever the repercussions of this wedding be, it would have a magnitude notches higher than what it was last time, because this time it would be Soha who will have to witness the bitter truths of life.
Ishwari walked to Asha and Bijoy with teary eyes, some sincere tears rolling out of them incessantly. She folded her hand in sincere apology and promised for the nth time to not repeat her mistakes ever again.
The tensed environment was immediately dissolved when the two munchkins of the house walked in the attires that even a blind could identify with, what or rather who they were representing
Sochti hai zyada, kam wo samajhti hai,
Dil kuch kehta hai, kuch aur hi karti hai.
Ladki kyu na jaane kyu,
Ladko si nahi hoti...
Golu wearing ripped denim pants and leather jacket over his vest, aviator sunglasses and boots to accessorise his look, walked in full swag, copying his bigcha, that even without a dialogue, or a song, everyone burst out laughing, while Dev was guffawing seeing his miniscule form imitating him just right.
Bikhra-bikhra bematlab sa toota phoota jeena,
Aur kehte ho alag se hain hum taan ke apna seena...
Jeene ka tumko dhang sikhlaati hai,
Tumhe jaanvar se insaan banaati hai.
Uske bina ek pal rehna sakoge tum,
Usko pata hai ye keh na sakoge tum,
Isliye ladkiyaan ladko si nahi hoti...
Followed next was Soha, wearing Brocade skirt and Satin shirt tugged in, funky bracelet on one wrist, watch on the other. A huge aviator size specs and her hair tied in a top bun, walked with even more arrogance. Sonakshi was silently shaking with laughter. She knew this would be a laughter riot. She pursed her lips together to control her laughter.
The sangeet ceremony ended on an even higher note than thought. Dev clapped the loudest for the last performance that both the children gave. Everyone had the happiest mood after that. After the function Dev drove both the kids to an ice cream parlour to treat them for the wonderful performance they gave. Another beautiful ceremony took place on a beautiful note, unlike his wedding the last time. He just wished and hoped that the final wedding tomorrow also lasts in the same good fervour without anyone having a bad taste in the mouth.
Babul ki duaaein leti jaa,
Jaa tujhko sukhi sansaar mile,
Maaiyke ki kabhi yaad na aaye,
Sasural mein itna pyaar mile.
The next day began in a jiffy, with the haldi ceremony happening at both the houses, and since the kids were separated, with soha living with Sonakshi, and Golu with the dixits, everything went for a toss, since Golu was terribly missing Soha...
While Soha was having a Gala time at her Deeda's home, with so many functions as well to have the family around that she was born and brought up with. It was so endearing for her to see her mother getting so pampered around...
Soha looked with extravagant surprise to see her mother look so beautiful when she got ready as a bride. The tiny heart wanted to one day look just like her mother was looking today.
A grumpy Golu sat on a horse back with Dev, as the baraat took to the wedding venue. An endearing kiss from Dev, made the little boy chuckle out of the tickle he felt, and was back to his happy self soon, seeing everyone so happy and dancing.
Naazon se tujhe paala maine,
Kaliyon ki tarah phoolon ki tarah,
Bachpan mein jhulaaya hai tujhko
Baahon ne meri jhoolon ki tarah.
Mere baagh ki ae naazuk daali,
Tujhe har pal nayi bahaar mile.
Neha, this time with utmost happiness did the Gathbandhan for her Bhaiyya and Bhabhi, since the wedding was fully done in a North Indian style. Bijoy came and put his daughter's hand on Dev's for Kanyadan. Though this time Bijoy wasn't as stoic, as he was in the wedding the previous time, but he was way more apprehensive than the last time. He realised, certain relationships cannot be handled with anger and impulse, but nurtured with love and patience. But that fear of a father still persisted, as he finally spoke- "Dev, beta! Mere paas aisa kuch alag nahi hai aaj kehne ko, jo tum pehle se nahi jaante. Tum khud ek beti ke baap ho, aur bohot achhi tarah se samajhte ho ki ek beti ke baap par kya beet ti hai. Toh wo sab main tumhe nahi samjhaaunga. Par haan, ye zaroor bataaunga, ki bhagwaan tumko apni beti ke liye wo din na dikhaaye, jo maine pichle 7 saal mein dekha hain... Bhagwaan na kare ki tumhari beti ke saath wo sab ho jo meri beti ke saath hua... For that always remember, The best gift that you can give to your daughter is to treat well and love her mother. Jab tum ye kar sakoge, toh tum ye realise karoge ki na sirf tum ek behtareen father saabit hue, balki, ek fantastic husband bhi saabit hoge... And I know you will do that... Take care of both my baby girls." Bijoy handed over Sonakshi's hand into Dev.
Dev sincerely nodded his head, as he held Sonakshi's hand firm.
Jis ghar se bandhe hain bhaag tere,
Uss ghar mein sada tera raaj rahe,
Hothon pe hansi ki dhoop khile,
Maathe par khushi ka taaj rahe,
Kabhi jiski jot na ho pheeki,
Tujhe aisa roop singaar mile...
Dev held Sonakshi's hand in his while the others dispersed after the Kanyadaan, for the dinner, before the pheras begin. Thankfully this time it was pure vegetarian dinner, making sure no one from the Dixits goes without eating.
The priest was chanting mantras, preparing for the pheras, while Dev and Sonakshi sat in front of the holy fire, doing as the pandit said. In between Dev spoke in her ear- "Before taking the holy vows, I want to take a few vows Sonakshi. From today onwards, I will take your stand with equal rights in the house. I will differentiate between the right and wrong, no matter what. I will love and respect you for everything that you are. I will not let you feel as an outsider anymore. I promise!"
"Dev, I too should take a few vows. I will solve our problems within ourselves, I will never bring them to my parents' home. I will accept that house wholeheartedly as my home, and will not try to escape from there when problems arrive. And I wouldn't let my ego mix with myself respect and become a hindrance to our love. I promise!" Sonakshi vowed, holding to his hand firmly.
Just then the Pandit announced them to stand up, to begin with the pheras. As they took the circles around the holy fire, renewing their vows yet again, amidst the flower petal showers they had. Completed by Dev putting Sindoor and Mangalsutra into her parting and around her neck; respectively. Reinstating the testimony of their holy institution of marriage that she knew Dev always loved on her which she once upon a time broke in a fit of anger. Well, she felt lucky to have all of it back.
Babul ki duaaein leti jaa,
Jaa tujhe sukhi sansaar mile...
Bijoy sat all night on his rocking chair wishing all the luck and happiness for his daughter, and wished that his daughter's marriage never get jinxed ever again. Only until the wee hours when Asha pulled him back to the room, did he lie down, with every last thought for his beloved daughter's happiness and successful marriage ahead.
The relief that settled over his chest was probably the telepathy a parent receives when his child is really happy, that made Bijoy finally fall into deep sleep. In the other corner of the city, indeed Sonakshi felt the happiest, the most joyous, and loved in her husband's arms again, being his, for an eternity, forever. The love that he had showered on her, she felt herself complete, wholesome after 7 long years. The yearning in her heart, the emptiness of her soul, all was completed by this man, who made her his, yet again. Forever. Just like he promised that he loved and will love her like a man loves his woman. Well, he fulfilled his words...
