Despite the palpable awkwardness in the second half of today's episode, the one thing that brought a huge smile to my face was how happy Sona was. How long has it been since we saw her smile like this from deep down inside? It was a sight for sore eyes indeed. Today she embraced the next step of their "benaam rishta" when she didn't just shut Dev down for flirting but did a little flirting of her own and enjoyed watching him stutter his way through an awkward response. 😉 This patience and initiative from Dev is exactly what she needs to slowly come out of her hard shell and it was amazing to hear Dev articulate the driving metaphor we have been noticing through out. Sit back and enjoy the ride, Ms. Sonakshi Bose. 😎

With this dinner, it has become clear that this is a conscious effort on Dev's part. He is doing exactly what his mother told him to and sorting out the issues under the chaddar. He assured Ishwari that he was just inviting the Boses for dinner, and he assured Sona that it was just a casual dinner, not their wedding. Even though this was said in jest, it carried a lot of meaning. In S1, when he approached Ishwari, he and Sona had already talked about marriage and made that decision for themselves. This time also, he is in love with Sona, but he is keeping his cards close to his chest. Our impulsive, heart-on-his-sleeve Dev is finally growing up, you guys. 😭 <--- Khushi ke aasoo. When he is making such a conscious effort for Sona and drawing her out slowly, it seems farfetched that he would agree for a random rishta. I am curious to see how that works.

Highlight of the episode: Sona rifling through her clothes and saying "sab ek jaise dikhte hai" 🤣 Yes, Ms. Bose, it's time for you to push aside your monochromatic, heavy brocade life and allow yourself to carry something lighter. I loved Sona's outfit today because it was the same design as her previous ones but with much subtler colours and thinner fabric. Plus, that black pendant showed that the darkness and doubt are still there, but have been reduced and contained. It was very similar to Shaavi's observation about Dev's colourful pocket yesterday!

Sam...as usual wonderful post. And the bolded part is what I had asked in the previous week's thread. What makes Sona really happy? And I am happy to see that I guessed it right...😊

@Sam

Great explanation as usual though I may say lack of communication happened from Sona's side also. I feel she should be the one to open up and enlighten Dev about the day long happenings and the situations she faced due to RR or Vicky's manipulations. For,Dev could never even imagine that people who took shelter with him could stoop to such levels for example like Vicky insulting Sona many a time.

But now that phase had passed and luckily Dev now knows about his mother's insecurities and RR's part in provoking her against Sona. That may be the reason why he is taking the blame on himself in the pre cap and apologising Sona for what had happened seven years back.

@ Suyash

Thanks a lot for appreciating my banter about Dev. It shows that though obsessed with his ch. I made sense in presenting my observation. That too if it comes from you who is a master analyst, I feel elated. Thank you.

Dr. Sonakshi Bose has microscopic eyes. She was able to see soap hidden under the vast jungle of Mr. Dev Dixit's Hair. 😆

This is where I do find Sona and Ishwari similar. You mentioned different type of thefts. For me the biggest theft was Sona stealing Dev's fatherhood. The lengths to which Sona went to find Malti's family... shows the halfheartedness with which she attempted to inform Dev about Soha. Sona doesn't feel Ishwari is a "bad" person.. so again there was no real argument in hiding Soha, especially with the prenup on her side. Sona's inability to risk losing Soha to do the right thing is very similar to Ishwari for me.

Mallika...couldn't scroll down without mentioning how beautifully you have put this point of Ishwari & Sona as two sides of a coin, when it came to risking their kid's love. And the bolded part was simply superb.👏

DQ...🤗. Finally, I got someone who noticed these two instances where the camera shifted its focus for a significant while in the scene. Now, I want someone to explore more into this and give us a post on it. Btw, where is areeba blossom? She is the one na, who used to give us good explanation on use of colors & numbers?

Sometimes it works to help put crimes into context, and sometimes the context and crime can be entirely forgotten if the person has the right resources (ahem, some Bollywood stars who shall remain unnamed).

In this particular context, I think it's also important to take Malti's personal guilt into mind. With this revelation of Khatri's involvement, she also takes responsibility for the fact that she believed him all of these years and let her family live in misery. Had she trusted her instincts about Ishwari, and not been so quick to believe Khatri, she might have saved them a lot of pain. I think her forgiveness also comes from the fact that this personal guilt so outweighs her anger against Ishwari for stealing those two bangles; Ishwari's crime was so long ago, but Malti's own mistake ended only that day. In the bargain, Dev is helping the family out of their dire circumstances. Forgiving Ishwari and accepting this help from Dev is not just about Ishwari; it's also Malti's way of atoning for her sins and mistakes.

@DQ: I love the idea that Dev is helping Ishwari be a better person; so true. After her lifelong struggle, I think Ishwari craves the support of people she can lean on. Mami is an expert at detecting these vacuums and filling them to her own ends. She did it for Vicky in the absence of Mamaji, Neha in the absence of Ishwari, she tried it on Golu in Dev's absence, and most effectively, she swooped into the empty space that Dev left in Ishwari's life. As much as she may find Mami's disposition distasteful, Ishwari fears being alone much more.

After the conversation he overheard in the hospital, Dev is beginning to recognise this and push Mami out of that space; not difficult when he tries, given that he is the one Ishwari actually wants there. The same way Mami provided structure and scaffolding for Ishwari's insecurity, Dev is paving a path for her natural goodness and generosity. I know it annoyed some people 😉😆, but I thought it was really thoughtful of Ishwari to remember Jatin and invite him as well. This is who she can be, but she doesn't have the strength to fight her insecurities alone. When she can depend on Dev never to abandon her, she will give up control and lean on him. That is what Dev seems to be working towards with both his ladies.

@Lakshmi: It's all a process with Sona, and I am thorougly enjoying the fact that Dev is showing the patience and maturity to walk her through this difficult phase, one step at a time. He is trying to create a safe space for her, so she feels comfortable opening up and being herself. The fact that she flirted back yesterday (on the video call) instead of getting angry was a huge sign that she feels safe with Dev now; she knows he is in charge and won't cross his limits, so she can let her hair down a bit. Dev's little smirk after the call ended told me that he knows exactly what he is doing, and he was pleased as punch to see Sona's slowly growing trust.

When Dev opened up and told Sona candidly that Ishwari took the medicine only after she left, Sona didn't get angry or defensive. She immediately realised that she may have crossed her limits and made a note for the future. When they were married, Dev never fully understood or communicated how uncomfortable Sona's interference made Ishwari and in many ways, he let Sona forge ahead like a bull in a china shop, while he escaped to the office. Now that he is here to guide her, and much more honest about the reality of Ishwari's insecurities, Sona is also willing to learn and adapt her behaviour.

For that honest communications and its wonderful outcome, I am also enjoying this phase as thoroughly as I enjoyed their first attempt at love and a relationship. Let's just say, I loved the sweet grape juice and I am loving this fine wine that came out of it.

Ohhh Sam...your posts always make me fall in love with KRPKAB more & more...And at the same time making me more impatient...

Diksha, i think its Dr. Bose specializes in case of Mr. Dixit only. 😆

N it reminds me of season one scene, where dev trims for video call and sona sees the trimmer on his bed. :v
