Intro and My Character Analysis

My name is Roshni and I have recently started watching KRPKAB post leap. I went back through and watched old episodes on YouTube and have fallen in love with this beautiful show! Unlike many serials, the characters are flawed and not portrayed as perfect ideals. These flaws show that the characters are humans, just like all of us. If humans were perfect, we would not have any of the global issues that are going on today. I am going to go into a bit of character analysis for the major characters.

I have watched many serials in which the female lead is bechari and tries to satisfy everyone, even if they do not love or care for her. However, Sonakshi is not one of those types of leads, which is one of the reasons why I appreciate her. I do not think that she is inherently bad, but is flawed. She still does love Dev and that is one of the reasons she allowed him to come into Suhana's life. Sonakshi could have easily raised Soha to hate Dev, but she didn't . That's where I appreciate the autonomy she gives Soha as a mother. She is also an extremely protective daughter. She loves her parents immensely and tries to protect her parents as much as she can. She is extremely confident of herself, but sometimes does forget that she does have her own faults, like every other person. I think what I am trying to say is that she is hesitant to accept her faults.

Now, for Dev. Dev, like Sonakshi, is also flawed. I won't say that he is incapable of loving anyone. When he does love people, he goes to a bit of an extreme (like when he stalked Sona after they broke up the first time). He is an extremely good son: I think that any mother would like to have children like Dev. This type of child is rare to find in today's world, because in our fast-paced life, we sometimes forget our parents. He is also an extremely loving parent. Initially, he was hesitant to give Suhana autonomy, but he has realized what a bright child she is. After observing Sonakshi with Suhana, I think he is giving her the respect and decision-making power that every child deserves. Dev is also extremely caring (like when he is acting like a member of the Bose Family, regardless of how badly they treat him; i.e. helping Sourav with weight loss, serving drinks, etc.) However, even with all of his good qualities, I think he does not think all of his words and actions through, which does lead him into trouble sometimes and makes him not able to sustain relationships.

Ishwari, if I am to take her words, "is not a girl, but a mother." As a mother myself, I am extremely protective of my children. If someone even thinks about hurting them, the fierce woman in me comes out. Ishwari, like me, is like that. I understand her insecurities about another person taking up Dev's attention. Ishwari loves her family immensely and takes pride in her children. However, there are certain things about her that irk me. First: the way she treats Sonakshi, both when Sona was a daughter-in-law, and when Sona is the mother of her grandchild. No women deserves to be treated the way Ishwari treats Sona. Back when Sonakshi and Dev's relationship was a secret from the Dixit Family, why was it Sona's fault when Dev decided not to tell Ishwari? Why should the rules be different for Ishwari and Sona? In the case that a mother should be the only person in the child's life, why is Ishwari trying to interfere with Suhana? Second: the way she favors Dev over her daughters. I know Dev was the breadwinner of the family before Vicky came into the picture, but Neha, Riya, and Nikki all didn't have a "bed of roses" childhood, especially Neha. Personally, my paternal grandmother plays favorites with her children, and it bothers me to no end, because my father ends up suffering, even though he is the one who has made the most sacrifices for his family. Third: Dev has no autonomy. This is one of the major differences between the Bose Family and the Dixit Family. Sona has autonomy and confidence and Dev has insecurity and unconfidence. And this is mostly because Ishwari took many decisions for him, without giving him the power of his own life, even after he grew up. This is a sign of authoritarian parenting, which is unhealthy for the parent and the child. Fourth: her disrespect for the Bose Family. If Sona has no problem respecting her as the grandmother of her child, why can't she respect the Bose Family as the people who raised her grandchild? Regardless of all of her flaws, I cannot hate her because she is a mother, after all.

Soha, Soha, how bright you are! To me, Soha is one of the cutest characters of this show. She is the perfect mix of a child and maturity. She loves both her parents regardless of their flaws and she makes them work as a team, regardless of their differences. This is the power that a child has over his or her parents. Since both parents love the child, they can do anything for him or her. However, one question: doesn't she seem a little bit too mature for her age? I'm not sure, and I am imagining my own children at that age, but my children were definitely not that understanding at six.

Golu, the ignored child. Golu is one of the other characters that I love. He is so cute! He loves his BigCha very much and is his best friend. However, the reason why I feel so bad for him is that he is caught in between for the mistakes of his elders. He is ignored by his parents and is now being ignored by his BigCha. This irritates me, because all he wants is love, which isn't that much to ask for as a child.

Bijoy, the overprotective father. Like any parent, he doesn't want his children to suffer, which I understand. I think that he has become more protective, especially after seeing his daughter's failed marriage. I do not think that it would have been easy to see his daughter crying for the second time because of the same person, which leads to his hatred for the Dixit Family. However, his flaw lies in the fact that he went from a father who gave complete autonomy to a father who is not giving any autonomy. This change had its reasons, but he became the parent whom he despised (Ishwari).

Asha, the sensible mother. I tend to disagree with those saying that Asha has lost it for making Dev and Sonakshi talk. I rewatched today's episode and noticed that she was telling them to solve their problems, not get back together. She was telling them to solve their problems so then it would not hurt Soha. This is the sensible thing to do. Why should Soha suffer because her parents hate each other? Asha is an extremely loving mother and she just wants her children to be happy. She gives them the autonomy they need, while giving advice, listening, or just being there for her children's support.

I am not going to get into Radharani and Vicky, because those two are probably the two characters that I despise the most because they bit the hand they ate from!

These are my humble opinions. I am welcome to discussion (would actually like it!), but please do not bash!

Sincerely,

Roshni

Hi Roshni, welcome to the forum.
This show is unique and has its own charm. All the characters are flawed and different from what we have seen on Indian Television.
You have analysed the characters quite deeply. Would love to know more of your thoughts on the episodes.

Hi Roshni...That was a deep & unbiased analysis...And of all what you have written, what striked me the most is the words about Ishwari, ''Regardless of all of her flaws, I cannot hate her because she is a mother, after all.''. After yesterday's episode, seeing the rogue Dev he has become now, I feel more connected to her.

What I was referring to was when Dev simply dropped Golu off at home and left to go see Suhana... I thought that was a bit insensitive, because Dev knew that after going home, Golu would be alone.
