What's wrong in being a Feminist? It's better than being a Doormat

I know a lot of people believe that Sonakshi is a feminist (there is nothing wrong with that) but really she is a woman who has taken charge of her life and her daughter's life. She choose to walk out of a marriage which was going no where. And that was not a feminist stance. It was about self-respect and really understanding that when a man is not caught between his mother and his wife and unable to build a bridge between the two, one of the two has to give in or walk out.

I am not sure why it is wrong to be a woman who walks out of a marriage in which
a) Dev has lied about her medical condition
b) She is being forced to try for a baby when she knows that her medical condition will probably not allow it
c) When Dev constantly lies to his mother and then lets Sonakshi or her family take the blame or step in at the last minute when things have gone from bad to worse
c) Dev drinks and makes decisions that have far reaching effects-- Sonakshi engagement broke, their own marriage broke.
d) Forget mother, Dev is unable to even stop Mami or Neha from being rude and mean to his wife.
f) Dev's mother refuses to let Sonakshi in to meet Dev after the baby is born and Dev Knows this but no action
g) Dev signs the pre nup. Sure his mother tricked him but MOTHER did this and he does not take this up with her post break up
h) Sonakshi believes that Dev had her family thrown out of the house. He says he did not do it. Ok but does he bother to find out who did it? Does he Punish VICKY at all? And why not?
i) There is no appreciation in Dev about the fact Sonakshi is willing to let Soha develop a relationship with him, that she is being sensible about it, she is confronting her own family for it.
j) That she is never rude with Ishwari. Firm, clear in her communication yet Dev is rude with her father and taunts him. Why Should Sonakshi not do the same

Dev repeatedly calls her one feminist in manner which implies that there is something wrong in being one and is derogatory about it. And Not once does she retaliate or tell him to buzz off. She gives him the respect that the father of her child should have but does he do the same? His own daughter had to point out how rudely he was behaving with her mother. Is that what a child should see and learn?

Think about this a little. And the CVs should also think about this a little unless they think that Sonakshi should have been a doormat and let the Dixit parivaar do whatever they were doing. If this is a show about women empowerment or not a Saas-Bahu-torture-me-all-you-can show then this ticking off of Sonakshi should stop.
Sure bring on the romance and all that... it is after all a soap opera but also keep the message clear and show Dev having some realization of how his actions affected the MOTHER of his child.

Blame the writers! They belong to the group of Saas bahu torture me all you can shows.

They think women cannot have any self respect once they get married.

They think good bahu shd silently digest all kinds of abuse from in-laws, even distant relatives in sasural can treat them like crap and the husband remaining quiet is normal for Indian households.

They want to show whatever Dev did to Sona and her parents is not offensive but quite natural for Indian husbands and damaads.
They think Ishwari's possessiveness as a saas is normal, that is okay for a guy's mother to be insanely jealous of her bahu.
Any woman speaking out against insults to herself and her parents and leaving her abusive husband and in-laws is a feminist because hey, women shd always be doormats and tolerate any kind of torture and abuse, that is the dharam of an ideal Bharatiya Naari. 🥱
Feminism is a bad word to MCPs because it makes women feel empowered to fight for their rights and dignity which challenges the authority of a male dominated society.

When Dev was taunting Sona that she has become a feminist, she shd have retorted, Good for me that I learned to live with self respect and be an independant single mother to bring up my child with my own hard work and merit, not be a parasite like your family members.

If only she had something like that. And it needs to be said. If this serial wants to take a progressive track it should do that. All this Sona taking nonsense from Dev makes no sense because she was not in the wrong here. Did he even once look for her? They both made the pact to stay together forever? So why dis he not look for her after the storm had blown over

I just read the title , couldn't read the matter fully .

Feminist or feminism as such is not a negative word. I have said this before if anyone calls me feminist I will consider it as an honor than an insult. It means I know my rights as a human being .

👏 It's because of such posts it's hard for me to quit the forum... 😃
I am glad that there are still some thinking in this line and not getting carried away by the mindset of the makers... 👏

Everything that Dev does, gets justified because he does it out of gratitude & love for his family, out of deep love for Sona and the expectation from Sona out of his undying love😉.. And by failing him Sonakshi did a big blunder because she didn't give the priority to her love...

For Dev being a son is a priority and he's bound to the duties & responsibilities of being a son... And Ishu has the rights of being a mother to him... PERIOD! And everyone should understand this!
For Sona being a wife must have been the priority and she's bound to the duties & responsibilities of being a wife & daughter-in-law... And Sona failed to claim her rights of being a wife to him and walked out without fulfilling her rightful duties & responsibilities as a wife & DIL... Instead she chose to fulfill the duties & responsibilities of a daughter to her parents... She forgot that she lost the rights of being a daughter to her parents the moment she is married... That's what the message looks like and that's what I read from the mindset here...

By choosing to be a Bose, Sona has created problem between her and her husband while choosing to be a Dixit, Dev has only been sandwiched between his mother and wife... 😆
The blame is all on the Stupid women who didn't understand Dev's greatness and his love and his difficult state to balance the two important women in his life... While it is expected from them to understand him, it's not required from him to understand their state of emotions and difficulty that he has put them through...😉

What's the need for Sona to walk out on her husband's family for her parent's family? So what if they are homeless, if she had cried to her husband, her heroic husband would have brought them all into his home😳... So what if his mother ill-treats them and considers them to be the stealers or the parasites living on her son's money... As long as they have a roof above them shouldn't they be grateful to The Dixits?! So what if Dev can't say anything against his mother/relatives who are badmouthing his wife's parents... Can't they understand how difficult it is for him to take a stand for anyone other than his mother? Why can't they fight and make it ugly themselves and even if he barges in to shut them up or ask them to get out, they should have continued to fight for their right as his in-laws or his wife...😆

How stupid of them to choose their self-respect & pride over the great love and blessing of Mr. Dev Dixit... 🤪

This is a wonderful post and I completely agree with your views regarding feminism. But the problem is that I don't think either of Dev and Sona knows the exact meaning of feminism because of the dumb writers.Did you hear what Dev thinks of feminism in Friday's episode. He says he wants to have equality between men and women and then goes on to say that feminism advocates superiority of women over men.Somebody needs to give this Dumbo a dictionary and tell him the actual meaning of feminism. He has confused misandry with feminism.Since Sona is not retaliating I guess she too does not know the true meaning of feminism. At the end of the day, these characters are writers' creation and when the writers are themselves unaware about feminism, there's no point in wasting our precious time bashing these characters.

Sona is stupid and being only stupid not knowing what she can say and fight for... Like one stupid and brainless woman she fights for something making herself the fool... She deserves to be The Dixit... Under the mercy of Dev Dixit because she loves him and he needs her to satisfy his male ego... How can she throw her egoistic self on him? Now he will show her, her position in all this game and where she stands when it comes to falling as a jelly in front of his attitude and heroic charm...😆

I agree with you. The meaning of feminism is not clear to anyone and Sonakshi is totally not a feminist as per the show. All I wanted to say was that the CVs have got the whole concept skewed...also no intention of bashing the characters... but just hope CVs read and understand that Sonakshi bashing or making sound like an errant bahu or lover should not be the case. Her fight for her "swabhimaan" should be lauded... and celebrated

In this one sentence you have summed up the Show. This justification needs to end or at we need to see his realization of his mistakes and his family
