Dev very well knows that he had been a huge failure as a husband. His dialogue of being a naakaam husband reiterated it. It has been plainly his ego that has been hit since Sonakshi dared to leave him and his family. When Dev says that he has loved only person the most and that is Sonakshi, it makes me question if this love wasn't enough for his ego to take a backseat and reach out to Sonakshi!
