I keep seeing this word being used and a lot of the characters abused (sometimes with language that can be toned down) because their Character graph is not growing!I have a question to all of us.. how many of our characters have changed in the last one year? Also, I see tons of older people whose characters have remained the same for decades.
Behaviors can change but changing the core character of a person is a very slow process.
So Dev, Sona and Ish have all remained as they were because that is their core character.
Dev is impulsive, brash and cannot see between right and wrong when it comes to his mother and family who has been with him through bad times. He may behave differently with Sona, but time and again his character stays as shown to us in Ep 1.
Sona is a self-respecting independent and strong woman with quite a no - nonsense attitude. Not screaming back at your in-laws shows strength and not a flaw in character. And in the last episode we saw her return right back to who she really is. Respect for her parents and independence was weighing over her reason to a certain extent when she is willing to sell the house.
Ishwari has always been obsessed with her son. I think she sometimes projects the insecurity and sometimes not. She has even become insecure at the time of Neha's roka (first few episodes seeing Dev speaking to Saloni).
At the end of the day, a lot of us may remain as we are. Growth in characters can happen but sometimes, we just have to live with it. Dev does not have a magic wand to put sense into Ishwari. Sona does not have a magic wand to put sense into Dev and Bijoy sometimes instigates the overly independent streak in Sona to her detriment.
The best is that we try to move away from relationships that are toxic (be it relatives, friends or anyone else) and associate with people who can change their behavior to accommodate our own character flaws.
