There definitely is a separation happening...and here's why I think so...

Foreshadowing of an irony about to take place - her wanting to stay married despite whatever is happening but circumstances forcing her to go back to being Ms. Bose.

The fire in this case represents Dev-Sona's marraige and the burn is the problem that came with marraige...be it Ishwari, infertility issue or Dev himself due to his inability to see bigger picture and his needy quick fixes for his mother's and wife's short term happiness.

3. Dev covers her with his jacket...meaning Dev will try to protect her in some ways but his words about Chinese dinner says his understanding of the problem is incomplete and hence his protection won't help.
