I have been thinking on similar lines about sonakshi ever since I saw today's episode, but could not articulate it. In fact, I don't think I could have expressed it so aptly the way you did.
My observations today:
I think between yesterday and today, Sona has clearly understood Dev, his level of obsession of keeping his mother's desires paramount and her standing in his life.
She feels trapped in his love, wants to live that rosie-dreamy-pink life she wanted to, but can clearly see that it's not going anywhere. Sona has probably reached that penultimate point where there is no point of return given she has always been an overachiever in life and never gives up.
With Dev and ishwari too, she has reached a point where she just wants to get to a safe zone 'survival of the fittest' so that she is not out of this value chain.

Why she is doomed to this level is difficult to answer but I have some may be's:
1) Sona truly, madly and blindly loves Dev - and she wants to be loved back, even if it means broken promises, lies explained with right/wrong/logical/illogical reasons and /or ignoring taunts from anyone outside her bedroom partner.
2) She feels that noone will love her more than Dev ever.
3) Most importantly, Her parents have been supportive, but haven't given her a stick for simply bearing and not protesting against atrocities of the dixits. This has led her to a point where she is always wrestling to 'somehow make it work' and adjust to no end.

I still remember that day when Asha (in her disappointment) said 'kya yeh meri shona hai?, that jolted sonakshi and instilled instant confidence in her and she went back in her solid form of not being love lorn but a self respecting woman. She needs that dose again.

Sorry this has been too long, but I got carried away with your very interesting post. Hope I made some sense. 😊

abhi asha kuch alag hi advice de rahi hain😕 No hopes from her.

Great observation since I am not watching and just skimming thru the WU maybe I am missing the Nuances that you have written

You have a point with the maybe's but as a woman I am so disgusted and saddened with the turn of events that even the maybe are not good enough anymore hope you understand what I am trying to say

You are making perfect sense. I was not going to make a topic but I always like to see if there is a different POV that I may have missed because as I see it these writers are writers by profession so I was just giving them some benefit of doubt without taking sides but as a woman/mother and wife what they are portraying is beyond me . Thanks for always taking the time to reply to my posts..btw do you live in the US?

This show I think is at that juncture now. In order for this show to move to its finale Easwari's insecurities and her true face has to come out . I think the makers instead of taking a more subtle route to achieve this in what was once a beautiful show chose to take this dramatic route. And in the process in my opinion literally killed both their Hero and the Heroine. But , nevertheless this is their story and they chose to portray it this way.

To Quote- Haruki Murakami

In everybody's life there's a point of no return. And in a very few cases, a point where you can't go forward anymore. And when we reach that point, all we can do is quietly accept the fact. That's how we survive."

Here it remains to be seen whether Sona accepts the fact that Dev will always put Easwari first no matter what and live with that or decide to move on out of this relationship.

It remains to be seen whether Dev will accept the fact his mothers needs will always come first so he cannot do justice to Sona and the marriage and live with the fact or change things around

I am not going to speak about Easwari the character here because even though she and her supposed insecurities are the catalyst to all of this The marriage is between Dev and Sona and they have to decide if they want a marriage or out? and if they want a marriage things certainly needs to change as they have reached a POINT OF NO RETURN

I get to learn many new things there @ Bold thanks Sabita 😃

And I agree, why I dont bring Ishwari in every post is because Sona is married to Dev and not to Ishwari. As a husband it's the man's duty to maintain her dignity at his place, like Sona did for Dev by not mentioning about their fight in Bose House.

I agree with the person who said if they want to portray Dev as dark character, bring it on, but showing him trying to justify his dark acts in the name of his 'love' for whoever XYZ is mean. Even the murderers have a solid reason to kill somebody. I cannot digest the justifications Dev tries to bring on board. 🥱

And what can I say when Sona buys them 😲😕 She has become this doormat I never imagined one can be. 🥱 Her love has become her obsession when she cant see things beyond Dev. When it requires for Sonakshi to protest verbally, she stays silent, when it requires for Sonakshi to leave the house for her own dignity, she asks 1/2 questions and is given indirect answers with a pile of insults, and when finally it requires for Sonakshi to break all ties with the man who hits her father, she will leave the house. 🥱 She already has done that once. Dev knows she would come back after 1 night of sorry and 10 fake promises 🥱. Why would Dev worry if Sona just leaves the house atm ? 😕

Anyways, I am more disappointed with Sonakshi than Dev. Because disappointment comes with hope. Whilst I have no hope left from Dev, I still have some from Sona. But the reaction on the slap would decide on that. 👏

I was really livid with the Ishwari-Sonakshi confrontation in the temple - I couldn't bear how Sonakshi could hear so much from that woman. It was beyond frustrating. Yesterday again, I was losing it - but more than anyone else I blame Dev for Sonakshi's downfall. With a person like Dev, it can only go down. Just like good company can take you places, your partner's support can change the wave for you.

But every person is different and so are the levels of tolerance. I know of 2 different women with different peripety - One is willing to forgive her husband on one-night stands; the other feels that she is rip off her husband of the last penny he has if he were to leave her for another woman.
Both, however, say that they would do the above for the sake of their growing kids.
I don't judge them, because I don't know what I would do in such a case.
Because we never know how we behave, until it happens to us.

I love your posts - you really sound very well-read.
I am based in the land of modern Sheikhs and high expat community (Dubai) with my husband, no kids :)

Yes Slap should be that in my opinion. Even if patch up happens after that the relationship would be scared and very toxic which will invariably lead to divorse. Loving and respecting your partner again after he slaps your parents is just not possible normally. So better to live apart rather than suffocate each other and be the downfall of each other.
