CHAPTER-5 part-2

DEV's POV

I was completely surrounded by my files and it had been a really busy week for me, planning my next move!! After torturing karan to my heart's content, surprisingly I had been a little more brutal than my regular times, he had finally given us the one thing we needed from him.. so now, I was seated with dhruv the man whose narcotics team would be accompanying us in the mission. One last check at the weapons inventory and my day would be done, so I headed with dhruv to check the inventory!! "dev I think humara kaam aaj ho hi jaega!!" I nodded and he left!! I went over to my desk and glanced at the pictures, nobody in their right minds would have guessed this man could run a drug cartel!! Kushal ahuja the owner of the builder group that ran a secret drug cartel in the country two years ago, a team here in Chandigarh, had been responsible for the wipe out of his elder brother who went missing from the files and was declared dead when a dead body was found in the dump yard near the crime scene Ritwick ahuja, it took them some time, but they were back at their dirty tricks... my door opened and a junior of mine bought in the bullet proof vest we would be needing for the mission tonight I took it and said a quick thank you and he left, I checked my phone there was still no message or call from sonakshi, she was really trying my patience, and I had decided after my mission here was done I would personally go and ask her out for a coffee!!

Vik entered my room with a night vision goggle and his bullet proof vest hanging from his hand.. "maine sab check kar liya hai.. ek team location ke liye nikal rahi hai.. woh log update denge or hum last moment checking ke baad nikal jayenge!!" I nodded and he said "tu meri vest pakad mai ek minute elina se baat kr ke aata hoon" every time we would be going out on a mission his last call had to be with elina.. it had always been like that and every time I had objected to it, he had laughed and said "jab teri ghar wali aayegi na phir tujhe samjh mein aayega mai aisa kyu karta hoon" and every time when we would make it back home she would be standing at the door eyes dull, pale and as soon as she would see and assess him, she would run down and silently stand in front of him... I had seen this moment unfold for a couple of times but somehow I always looked away not wanting to indulge into privacy!!

We were near the building's southwest entrance, it was densely covered by thickets, we had split up in such a way that we were efficiently covered and scattered all thanks to the man who had eyes and ears everywhere!! "guys ready!!" our intercom crackled "unki shift change ho chuki hai... and woh log bas abhi settle honge perfect time hai gas bombs daal ke plan ko execute krne ka.. kushal andar hi hai!!!" I signalled the team to proceed we were 6 men including me.. this was a surprise attack hence the less numbers, but we had a back up team ready if we had any trouble containing an unsuspecting lot!! Vik was my right arm man and dhruv had his team in check!! We started moving towards the building the foremen signaled us to put on our masks we did as we were directed... the new moon played the perfect setting with the dull, pale light it was a little difficult to spot a moving man, and well we were well covered.. I signaled them to put on the night vision glasses "on the count of three" the intercom crackled with dhruv's voice "one, two three!!" the guys upfront launched the gas bombs and just like we had expected, they were not prepared... the chaos only added to our advantage and before they could even sound the alarm the south wing of the unit lost its connectivity!! And meanwhile the men lost their consciousness!! Impressed by the growth in technology, we made our way in the building according to the thermal scan of the building khushal should have been in the east wing of the building... carefully not to alert the remaining forces we ascended the stairs along the wall of the stairway.. vik was leading me, he glanced back and nodded and we put on our silencers!! This was supposed to be a quick move in, and grab the price, kind of situation and we made sure of that!! Unprepared lot dosnt mean we expect the lads to have taken a long break, but we do expect them to take their own sweet time to grab a weapon, aka our cue, to shoot them!! Vik had stopped on the top of the stairs giving a cold stare my way and with his hands gestured a count of three!! On his mark we made our way into the corridor and everything in the next instant happened in a flash!! One moment the three men guarding the floor spot us and the next moment we are walking over the dead bodies, and making our way -through ranveer's constant babble- to the east wing!! By this time he had already managed to hack into the surveillance system of the building and he had a clear picture of what are we to expect when we open the next door!!

"han tumhe straight jana hai.. building ke baaki logon ko abhi tak kuch pata nhn chala hai!! Its like a surgical strike, but meri mano or team ko ready rakho tumhe backup ki zaroorat padne wali hai!!" ranveer continued on the intercom!!

"aage" vik said impatience clear..

the next set of instructions, took us closer to our price and resulted in a few more bodies by this time our men at the fore front had already made their way through the maze to a convenient spot near the master bedroom!! dhruv was leading these men so it was always fair he called the shots he signaled them to clear the way for us!! It was past 3 am by the time we had reached the level!! Two of them had already made their way into the open hallway having a clear shot through the windows, we took our positions near the door flanking each side, dhruv nodded his head and we broke into the room scaring the shit out of khushal who jumped out of the bed, that bas***d even had a woman in bed with him.. we shot her, a flesh wound, and she started howling but we ignored her, probably a girl from his underground brothel, my nostril flared at the mere sight of him and I made my way towards him but he was quicker and within a fraction of a second he had a gun in his hand... a small gun the size of his palm, probably kept for personal security, he pointed the gun towards me but I was faster I kicked him in the hand and the weapon flew out of his hand and landed at my feet the next I kicked him in the square of his jaw and the effect was immediate he fell to the ground and his face had a deep welt from where my kick had landed, I grabbed him from his hairs, my nails digging in his scalp... I pulled him straight and vik kicked him hard in his stomach and he doubled over in pain..."ab tu taiyaar hai humare sath jane ke liye" vik spat and I looked on my lips twitching in response...

"hai kon be tu saale... samjhta kya hai khud ko?" khusal hissed "tujhe toh mai dekh lunga... tum sabko dekh lunga" I tightened my grip in his hairs he winced but continued "vikrant chaudrey, bahut pachtaega tu!!" when he said this vik turned and I saw the flash of fear before he masked it with indifference, I knew this fear, and I looked at khushal in my hands and he stared back at me and in a grave voice said "tune mujhse mera sab kuch cheena hai Dev Dixit, mai tujhse, tera sab kuch cheen lunga... teri aankho ke samne mai teri duniya jala ke rakh kar dunga or tu kuch nahi kr paega!!" his words were spoken in a cold unflinching manner,

at that moment I scoffed at him and said "mera sab kuch mera kaam hai or uska tu kuch nahi bigad sakta"

he laughed a cold dry laugh and said "dekhte hai..."

before he could continue sameer a member of our team and dhruv's junior shot him with the tranquilizer we were carrying with us in case of extremities, I looked up at him and he said "kuch zyada hi nahi bol raha tha" and he winked

i just rolled my eyes and hoisted him up with vik's help and looked in dhruv's direction who with another member of our team were helping the unconscious girl... "hum isse le ja rahe hai tu or delta team yahan pe sab kuch manage kr lena" I spoke authority ringing

"yes sir" he mock saluted me and continued "see you tomorrow" we carried him and reached the facility where we were going to keep him for the rest of his trial period,

by the time we completed the various formalities it was quarter to 5 vik glanced in my direction as we stepped out of the building... face drained he was spent and so was i... "ghar chale??" he asked me and I nodded we took our respective cars and drove back home... I changed in a pair of clean boxers and lied down on my bed and checked my phone for all that I had missed, there was a text from an unknown number and I opened it to read the message' kya baat hai Chandigarh ka police department toh bada shant ho gya hai itne dino se kisi club mein apni haziri nahi lagwa raha??' I rubbed my eyes and re read the message!! It was the one message I had been waiting for, it had been a week since our last meet and the conversation was still fresh in my mind, my heart raced as I searched for an appropriate reply my tiredness long forgotten as I sat up straight in my bed I checked the time of the text message it was sent last night at around 10 pm, I knew I was a tad bit late so I nonchalantly replied hairani ho rahi hai ki ek nutritionist ko Chandigarh ke clubs se itni mohobbat kaise ho gai hai' I sent it quickly saved the number on my phone, flipped it to my side rolled over and soon my thoughts drifted to the brown eyed girl lulling me to sleep...
