Disclaimer : Routine of Indian Women not based in India
This is real life story of most of my friends and colleagues working in leading IT/Telecom/Banking space..
wake up call at 4 am
Prepare breakfast, prepare kids lunch tiffin, wake-up and get the kids ready for school, milk and snack bites and off to school by 6.30 am
Get ready, have breakfast, pack lunch tiffin, clean-up and leave for office by 8 am
That is 4 hours of household chores
Back to home after putting 8-10 hours at office
Go through school instructions, homework, project, assignment etc.
Prepare dinner, keep things ready for next day early morning tasks... Have Dinner, spend time with kids and out them to sleep...
More of less another 4 hours of chores...
That makes it 18 hours of small, medium tasks with optimum results everytime... chapatti should not burn, salt should be perfect, clothes should be ironed, no oil dripping from tiffin, etc etc etc... not rockets science but near perfection for million trivial tasks and often thankless...
And if you are outside India, you don't have help... you cannot count on relatives... and Yes, almost all of us are highly educated and so are our husbands...
We also try to attend conference calls and reply to emails in between all this...and also deliver babies without any elderly person while our partners don't even learn to pad up a diaper for a baby who also carried his DNA...
Partners like Dev, are in fact, partners in absentia... when all this is happening around, you cannot bank on them... because they are not trained for any of these stupid stuffs...
Now imagine, all this takes a toll and you are down under weather for a day or two... your partner does not know anything... not even how to boil water or which is kids uniform...
Gals who are today supporting Dev, one day you will realise how important it is to have someone with little commonsense...
Sorry for long rant... but after 15 years of marriage, earning near equal salary, enjoying same professional success, our partners cannot even start washing machine or dishwasher...
And it is indeed unfair... All because their mom's never let it go...
