It was near dusk with the sky growing dark and as the call got disconnected he left for a walk.
Dev was lost in his thoughts when he heard his mother's voice, for a fraction of a second he cerebrated that he is mistaken because what would Maa do here at this point of time, but just to confirm he moved to where that sound was coming and he was right it was his maa talking to a man. She was frightened and sounded affright. Dev was getting very anxious and his heart beat was getting faster as the distance between them was decreasing because he can sense that something is really wrong.
He was stumped when he saw his maa was pleading before this man, who is in the late 60s, but Dev couldn't see him as it was quite dark by now. He tried to focus n realized that he is Khatri their old neighbor. He was blackmailing his mother about something, Dev clenched his teeth in anger because nobody on earth has the audacity to talk to his mother like this, but before Dev could react, what he saw had left him numb.
Khatri: Ishwari tere paas Aur koi rasta nahi hai isliye Meri baat maan ja Aur Yahan Ki sari zameen mere naam kar de.
Ishwari: mere liye yeh karna bahut mushkil hai main Dev se Kya kahungi.
Khatri: wo Sab main nahi janta lekin agar Maine apna mu khol diya to tere pass Kuch nahi bachega.
Ishwari: Aisa kabhi nahi ho sakta, tum Aisa Kuch nahi karoge.
Khatri: kar bhi sakta hu, agar Maine Dev ko bata diya ke "jis maa ko wo apna Bhagwan manta hai wo to uska hai hi nahi.
aur socho agar Dev ko pta Chala k wo to tumhara beta hai hi nahi , use to meri patni ne marte waqt Teri god mey daal diya tha Aur Itna hi nahi main use yeh b bata dunga k us raat jab tere paas Ghar ka kiraya dene ko paise nahi the, tumne ek poori raat mere sath bitayi thi".
Before Ishwari could say anything Dev rushed and grabbed him and started beating him endlessly...tumhari himmat kaise hui Meri maa k baare mey yeh Sab kehne Ki.
Khatri: with the half breath said, Mujhse nahi apni maa se poocho and he ran away... Dev looked at Ishwari with questioning eyes.
Ishwari couldn't utter a word n stood there like a rock which was enough for Dev to understand that whatever he heard was right
His whole world was fragmented, he inhaled only a shallow breath and was struggling for the other one. Suddenly there was an aura of gray around him and it was a mist that wouldn't rise, he couldn't see himself. He had lost his identity.
Without saying a word he left and grabbed his keys, rushed towards his car from there and drove like a maniac.
At Sonakshi's home
Sonakshi: Maa baba aap Dono kab tak lautenge.
Asha : Sona beta jaise hi Teri maasi Ki tabiyat Thik hoti hai hum aa jayenge.saurab bhi kal tak apni meeting se wapis aa jayega Aur tum apna dhyan rakhna.
Sonakshi: Thik hai maa , aap pahunchte hi Phn kijiyega.
After bidding goodbye to her parents, she came straight to her room and lie down on the bed. She was saddened because she will be alone for the next few days and Dev is also not in town. She took her phone from the side coffee table n looked at her and Dev's picture which Nikki took a few days back while playing dumb Shiraz.
She wrote a message " Dev hamari baat adhuri reh gyi thi Aur usse poora karne k liye main tumhari wait karungi...come soon"
As soon as she sent the msg, she noticed those two blue tick marks which means Dev is still awake and before she could think of anything there was a name flashing on the screen of her phone.
