Frankly, Dev should never have married. He should quietly have stayed single, provided for his family and stayed happily enjoying his mother's love and loving his mother. Life would have been simpler for him tht way.

He and his mother, according to him has an unique relationship. They don't have to be like anyone else. Based on their action the interpretation is that they don't have to give a eff about anyone else as long as they are focused on each other.

Why bring another woman between this unique relationship? Where is the space for anyone else, let alone a wife? Who wants to live their life on crumbs?

Let's be honest here. This is how the world works. Parents raise kids, kids grow up and get married and create their own family and the cycle continues.

Both side of the family through the couple becomes blended family who stands by each other through thick and thin.

Sona very easily accepted Dev's sisters as her sisters. She spends her time bonding with them. So they come to her for advice and their problems.

Did Dev spent any time with Saurabh beyond around family when Sona is there? Why would Saurabh ever consider sharing his problems with Dev?

Sona accepted Ishwari as her mother and gave her all due respect. Even if Asha told her to treat Ishwari like a stranger, Sona won't ever hurt Dev's mother.

But Dev? He did it in a heatbeat. Why would anyone consider Dev to be part of their family? He only belongs heart and soul to Ishwari.

Then why marry? Marriage is a social custom where two people want to share their life and family together.

Otherwise, casual flingsis also a possibility these days as well as convenient where two people can continue to have their separate life and just come together for sex. In that arrangement, nothing has to change in their personal life including their family dynamics and lifestyle. There was absolutely no need for Dev to ever get married since Sona has to take a crowbar to pry her place in his home and his priorities constantly which is exhausting for anyone.

I am sorry. When a man hurts a woman for the sake of his mother, he is not a good human being and thus a FAILURE of her own upbringing.

People call Dev Shravan Kumar. Shravan Kumar never married because his entire life was devoted to his parents. He was a good son as well as a good human being. Because he could not do justice to a woman, he didn't marry. That's fair and selfless. Dev is selfish because he wants just a woman on tap to use when he wants her and sideline her when he doesn't or she comes between his family matters. That's a shitty example of a human being.

Dev could be Shravan Kumar and never married. Why ruin a woman's happiness, dreams and expectations because your mother wants to be your everything?

I second whatever you have said. He should not have got married in the first place. He had no right to love anyone.
