Very true. Even I wonder why her character has to be butchered so badly. I agree that the actual plot is to portray the transformation of a sweet mother-insecure MIL-good MIL. Fine, so be it. In real time, arrogant MILs do exist who go to the extent of preventing their sons getting close to their DILs but such women are arrogant in nature and such mothers exist in negligible count. But, in Ishwari's case, basically, she is not an arrogant person. Possessive mothers like Ishwari do not create any problem in the lives of their children for they always want to see their children happy; rather they trouble their own selves and get into depression mode (alternately if they have proper let out or another caring child they get the required consolation and support from the other child and tend to recover from their inner struggle). In anyways, I am unable to accept that a loving mom like Ishwari can behave like such a monster.

If at all the plot was such, then, in the worst case, her insecurities could have been shown like Ishwari troubling her own self leading to depression from which she is redeemed to normalcy. But slaughtering such a beautiful character to this level truly hurts viewers like me.

Even now, I will get some consolation if her redemption happens not just by Sona & Dev but with the joint effort of Dev, Sona, Neha and Riya and with greater intervention of Neha/Riya in making soft communications with Ishwari. While Sona's intervention is definitely required to get the much required third angle view, the redemption should be the joint effort - for a simple reason that even on tele screen I do not want to witness a colossal failure of motherhood.
