Dev or Sona - Who is more unfortunate ?

Ever since Devakshi got married, we have this highly impactful drama with fine touch of reality. Sona has been asked to have the hot-seat where straws after straws are being directed at her without her having any defense. But when I compare Dev and Sona's situations, I am not sure whom I should feel more sad for.
In one hand we have Sona whose love-life and marital life have been nothing but a mess. But the whole mess is being aggravated by her own actions. Also, she agreed to marry knowing full reality of Dev-Ishwari equation and without addressing her issues (of being toy etc, which only once she raised with Dev). In a way, to some extent she is the creator of her own misfortune.

But Dev, did he have any option to not take birth from Ishwari ? Did he have any option not having Ishwari and have any normal mother in the time of struggle ? Did he, as a kid, have that understanding to ask Ishwari to love all siblings equally and to share opportunities equally amongst them and not be biased towards him ? Was it his fault that Ishwari showered all biased love and obsession to him, for which now in return she demands a payback with 10000% RTI ? How does it feel for a young man to be always reminded about his responsibilities towards his home which he has been doing ever since 11 may be ? How does it feel to have a control on his laughter/fun-mode as soon as he sees his own mother staring rudely at him (During Neha's wedding) ? How does it feel to be in a guilt trip whenever you do something wrong ? How does it feel to carry the burden of 'Mera Dev koi galti nahi kar sakta' type expectations throughout ? How does it feel to always have that immense pressure to always be right and do right ? How would it feel to work your @$$ off even if it means ignoring your wife, just so your family members do not have to anything ? How would it feel to see others' enjoying life at the cost of your hard work and struggle ?

When I think of it, I feel more sorry for Dev than Sona. Sona had the option to not choose Dixit family as her relatives, but Dev didn't. Ishwari as a mother is indeed more horrible to me, than a MIL.

Agree with your PoV.. From here DevAkshi bond will be more stronger. Time is teaching them in the harder way that they have to be the each other's support system not any one else whatever situation might be.

So true. You can't choose your parents. They design your upbringing and paint you with the colors they have. Very few have the maturity to want something different for their children than what they got.
Dev has that means and maturity , he doesn't want his sisters to go through the difficulties they had as children, he will do so for his kids also. With Sonakshi as a partner, they'd be wonderful parents. (that infertility thing is a red herring to me. it will be easily pooh-poohed by a second opinion later. )

But Dev has to learn some tact . He may hate it but he has to deal with all this womanly power struggles all around him in order for some peace in the house. It's a lot to carry on his poor head!!

I do feel sorry for him too. Wonder how he will deal with the Vicky problem. I hope Riya comes to give support at the crucial time.

Yes.. This is so true!

Ishwari is selfish.. It's all about her wants, demands.. She controls Dev !she think he owe's to her! How she emotionally manipulates him! Neha is the only one who can give her back straight on her face!

Dev will have to be very tactful now, as its not only about him, he has Sona's responsibility and has to look after her needs , happiness .. Etc! He will have to respectfully push back to Ishwari's demands!

well said👏 Dev is more unfortunate.sona can still out of this mess if she wanted to but Dev can't. he is forever bound to this greedy family.we can't leave our parents because they are ugly .ishwari is ugly inside. i just jope he see real face of his mother and stop painting ishwari as a god.

Superb post yaar.

Totally agree with ur thoughts. Dev is a gem .most of the parents invest their whole life to give best opportunities to their children. But how many children remember their hardwork&sacrifice when they r grown-up? We take our parents for granted. But dev literally put her in the pedestal of God.
And sona- she accepts and even adores the love between maa-son.she tries to win Ishwari's love whom her son holds important more than his existence. .

here I think Ishwari is more unfortunate that she cannot see through dev &sona's pure, genuine love&respect .who because of her ego , insecurities, possessive, obsession. ...whatever ..losing two precious persons' love & respect

I feel for both ...but as you hav rightly pointed out ..dev is more unfortunate ...atleast for sona it was a matter of choice not an obligation ..She married coz she loves him..It wasnt an obligation for her .but for dev it has always been an obligation.Since a tender age he has been overburderned with responsibilties .always it has been instilled in his mind that he has to provide for his family .be an ATM to them.it was never a matter of choice for him.there was simply no way out.
Atleast sona was lucky enough toto be born in such a loving nd supportive family .but dev dint even have that advantage .

I soo want them to have such heartfelt conversations nd sona assuring him that now she is there in his life to fill this void

on a lighter note.we fans the most unfortunate ..for loving them soo dearly that it hurts seeing them this way .No way out for us too lol

I understand your emotional perspective towards this whole situation. It may be because this show has impacted all of us in many realistic ways and right now, the drama is too high with so many entanglements.
I had similar feelings immediately after watching yesterday's episode. But let me take a step back and analyse their overall situation, albeit in neutrality.
Both Dev and Sona are in a tough zone right now, but none of them is unlucky, because they have each other. Period.
They could have been far more miserable, if they would have lost each other to destiny.
For Dev, his mother played a real God, by bringing back sonakshi in his life.
As for Sonakshi, she got back her love!

Life is never perfect. Dev has to unburden himself from the clutches of his mother's obsession and undue pressure of being a superlative son. For that, he has to grow as a person and resurrect his orientation to sensibly choose between right and wrong.
Agreed that his mother is behaving horribly and selfish, but she did teach him some golden basics of life, that's how he chose a wonderful woman like Sonakshi for himself.

Sonakshi has only lost herself temporarily. She will regain herself and with Dev's love and support (not to forget her awesome Bose family), sona will reclaim her true identity, undergo and accept things sshe cannot change and finally lead a happy life with him.

Nothing is catastrophic. Just give it sometime 😊

Ishwari should learn to be a mother first she emotionally abuses Dev and has been doing this for a long time the way she ignores her daughters is shameful the younger ones don't even treat her as a mothers for them Neha is their mother that itself should make her feel guilty, but no she likes to see herself as a mahaan who has done everything for the family. For me she is a pathetic mother so she should become a good mother first then she can become a good MIL 😊
