The show is a close to reality love story... and the breakup happened as the hero's mom did not approve of their love and relation and attempted suicide, which could cause death.

🤗 thanks Sajnini ..thanks for the brief back story ..this is as real as it gets then..moms being possesive abt sons..Moms not growing up n in turn ruining the sons life..:( wondering how did they come up with such a basic n real aspect of relationships..n hired such great actors to play the role..such that main bas ek baar dekha n chipak gayi ... they show pain like i have never seen before in the recent past!!! kudos to actors..n kudos to all of u ..i am sure cos u all r so responsive with reactions..they navigate the show so sanely n the actors n off screen crew all r striving to give their best...btw how r the trps for the show?
