What is the reason behind dev arranging for the date between sona and Ritwik?/what is this gonna do to dev by doing this ? She is only going to scream and walk out...

I think dev does it after the confrontation scene between him and mamaji

After mamaji tells him he needs to forget sonakshi and all.. he might think that after arranging this and all he can be happy for her

It was her birthday.. and that guy wanted to prove her that he is all rich and better than her fiance

Obviously Dev was not ok with this alliance, he want to break it.

So he arranged the date, so that Rithvik will come to know about Dev, Ex boy friend of Sona. But Sona already told about him to Rithvik, which Dev doesn't aware of.

So Dev's plan will fail on top of that Sona will shout at him infront of Rithvik which again adds fuel to fire.. and he gets drunk more i guess..

Seriously I too feel.it is so stupid to arrange...y always interfere in their business...he like sona so he can meet her but y Ritwik in the middle now ..:( sounds do stupid to me...Dev gone really mad :(

I have only one sentence to say"pyar mein log aksar stupidity karte hain".. Dev is like that only "he is man of his own kind"... and Sonaksi knows her very well. But now she is angry on Dev as he was not stand for his love. In fact sh3 also knows that. In their last meeting before break up she also told Dev that "she feels due to his mom he will go against her"and that happened also.
