Great post👍🏼 very very well said!! Before bashing dev's character or saying anything against him we need to understand his nature and background! ! He has always been an extreme when it comes to his loved ones!!be it his god-like maan or love of his life sona..he is strong n powerful in front of the world but extremely innocent n vulnerable when alone (or when he used to be with sona)..his impulsiveness is both his weakness n strength..and now when he is stuck to chose between two most important women of his life,he is all alone in this tough phase!!and still keeping it with himself n not letting out on anyone!!the expressionsad of relief n joy on seeing sona in his office and he totally lost in the moment said all about how much helpless he is in this situation!

He's the person who brutally annihilated Sona's career to make sure his mother gets best nutritionist in Delhi.
And treated her so badly n shuted at her when Ishwari fell ill , where there was no fault of Sona , n he didn't allow her to even give an explain. Typical Dev Dixit.
Same happened when NIkki landed into trouble in a girl's night out due to her own immaturity n Dev was mad at Sona...
Plus the way he broke her phone was totally unacceptable.
But he's same person who tolerated a bunch of pain in the ass kids to secure sugar free cake for Sona's mom n went personally to deliver it becoz it was his fault the first cake got destroyed.

he himself went to Sona's house , apologized n made her take the phone . It was adorable.
He is making sure the poor employees like guards etc. can pay the bill for their daughter's marriage , we've seen several in occasions example of this, including his driver , Tina, and the retired employee who came to thank Dev in presence of Sona's father.
And when Sona's accident happened , he was besides himself in worry ( though I highly suspect the Tube light Dixit has already fallen in love with her by that time n just didn't realize that. )

He shouted n was really rude with Tina , he bullied Sona's new boss using his own power.
But he's the same guy who gave a good amount of money to a very poor girl who came to sell gajra n though he couldn't buy any of that , the sad disappointed n expectant look on the girl's face triggered his kind heart.
Dev Dixit ever a great puzzle.
Before you bash him, you need to know he's also capable of extreme affection and selfless kindness.
Yes he's weak , he's crazy , he's ruthless many times. But that's not all to him. He's so much more than that.

You definitely love making such thought provoking posts, don't you?😉
Yes, Dev is definitely a character with a lot of dimensions. There are times when you fall in love with his sweet gestures and others where you dislike his blind love towards his mother.,some where he makes you swoon with his words and others where he shocks you with his naive actions.
There is this scene where Dev gives flowers to sona that were given to him by Natasha and Sona refuses to take them and then he goes and innocently asks his mother why she didn't stop him from forwarding those flowers. 😆So his intentions are not wrong, but his manner of presenting those are sometimes.(this flower thing was so hilarious and silly).
Do I still dislike the way he broke up? Yes. Does he still need to realise what he did wrong cos he sure hasn't yet? Yes. Does he love Sona? Yes, very much, he just needs to realise that it is possible to love two people and balance their relationships.

He is bossy, rude, naive, sweet, romantic, caring all rolled in one. I can't help but love him for his sweetness, hate him for hurting Sona the way he did , feel for him when I see that no one in the family truly understands him and feel his pain when he is all alone and missing her so much.

All that said, as a character, he is not bad, he has flaws like everyone does and has made mistakes that can be corrected.

@gargi: In blue: He was soo adorable after her accident.so caring,so compassionate. Yes he had definitely started falling for her at that point.

Fully agree. He is a guy with some weaknesses just like you and me - a mixture of good and bad. Neither angel nor devil. Just human.
Don't paint him a Saint in obsession for devakshi romance and don't make him a monster just to support the ultra feminist ideals.

Either people are busy justifying his each and every mistake or are trying to prove that he should be lynched to death. It has actually become a ridiculous situation

Dev is a little kid who had to grow up really before time to meet up the expectations his God had kept for him . At a very tender age he was given the responsibility of his sisters n mom by his mom .. He was told to do well in life for them . Yes he loves his family n would do that happily but the child within him suffered alot cos of it n he didnt have even one person/friend to share his thoughts , problems n all with anybody ! its really horrible being that way .. n I guess with time he started to believe that the only aim in his life is giving happiness to his Mom and fulfilling all her expectations...n nothing else...Nothing wrong in it but he also deserved to be happy , he also deserved to have something in life he can be happy abt from his heart ...but no - he worked , n worked really hard to achieve so much in life that his mom n sisters dont have to suffer anymore - LIKE how his maa wanted..
In a nutshell he was forced to grow up way too soon by life n his mom ...n he started believing that the purpose of his mere existence is his MOM n her happiness or his family's happiness ... he doesnt have any right on his happiness .. He was ready to marry any random girl for Neha too...
But then came Sona n she made him realise what love is , what sharing-caring is , what frndship is , what it is to have somebody in their life .. Even when they were together , how many times he made me feel bad for him - every time he said first time life mein someone is mine , someone is for me , someone is my happiness , n I am beings elfish pehli baar etc - my heart used to ache for him ... Cos everybody needs somebody - A friend , a confider , a companion ... and for him his love was his companion n soulmate .<3
But again reality struck hard n he was thrown into 'making his ma happy' zone once more n he again sacrificed everything of his being for her . This time , his life itself . & now he is just a lifeless person who is all alone n the worst part is - He cannot even tell that to anyone - his sisters , his family - NO ONE .
He loved Sona with all his heart n he knows she did too n he also knows he broke her heart , along with his. This guilt and regret is eating him up n as mamaji said even if Sona forgives him one day , will Dev be able to ? I am sure NO... cos he broke HIS Sona ... but still the love , the care , the longing is there - & will always be there n any given chance its only understandable that he wants to make life easier for her - cos he knows how much pain he has already caused her n still is helpless - and thats the worst part...
Though he is trying to hold himself up n gather is broken pieces its really clear that his parts are missing and are with Sona . He knows he belongs with her but cant have her . And its already eating him up - cos when u have someone else to blame for ur sorrow its painful n horrible but when u know u are urself to blame for ur heartbreak - its dreadful . N now when he sees Sona with someone else , he is going to reach his saturation point of sufferings...
He had and is suffering his whole life and is about time he understands his mom and realises its not wrong to be happy . Yes his family is important but everytime not at the cost of his happiness and choices. He was alone his whole life and he is alone again .. and he knows one decision and he can have his life , his happiness back but cant ! and that makes everything so terrible for him ...
Cos right now what he has believed from childhood - his selfless dedication for his mom is overpowering his own love for Sona ... but soon he wil realise ...

Beautiful post! :) One has to think a lil deeper to understand Dev but its not that difficult ...

And as I can see , my devakshi are 2 beautiful human beings who are currently suffering horribly when they only deserve happiness and togetherness .

It hurt to see when people bash him 😭
Especially for a die-hard Dev'ian like me

People needs to understand that every coin has two sides!

He may not be perfect life partner for any girl, he may not be perfect son but he loves his family and go extreme lengths to make them happy. Mr dev dixit one of his own kind ❤️ ⭐️.

One more important point to is- if a character starts his arc from the point of perfection, then what'll be his character trajectory through out the journey of the story ??
you can't go better on perfection.
Makers leave some flaws so that the story of the show can work around it and reach near perfection by the end of it.

Dev Dixit is complicated but He has a pure soul in the core. He is extremely vulnerable one moment and extremely rigid the other.
He can be rude to the extremes. . But he doesn't think a moment before apologizing if he feels like it.
He wants to be away from Sona and he is the one who gets tears of happiness when he just looks at her. . talking to him.
All the contrasts you pointed out are beautiful.
I am so glad to see this post, specially because you made it.😳 That even someone so strongly opinioned about Dev doing wrong to Sona, could see through what Dev really is. He is definitely not one dimensional.

To be honest ... I'm against mindless hatred , yes you can analyze the character n harshly criticize him ( yes I do it quite often ) , but that doesn't mean one should just condemn him to the deepest pit of hell.
So he deserves nothing from life ?? No happiness only pain since childhood , all surrounded by bloody blood suckers around him , n at the end of the day roll over in his own self created hell , and gulp on sleeping pills n wait n hope that artificial sleep will come to give him momentary rest from his own consciousness n erase the pain.
Already we know how much he's going to suffer in the upcoming episodes , let's not all be so sadistic as to enjoy a living breathing human being in pain n on top of it bash him during it.
Dev shouldn't have shouted at Tina , and he shouldn't have threatened Sona's new boss, with out knowing the truth ( Sonakshi did make mistakes at work that's why new boss was angry , but did Dev think he's also the person who gave her a job at least when Dev ruthlessly kicked her out of job, when her family is dependent on her n Saurav. ) .
But he's not in a normal state of mind , he's in his own personal hell.

There was a she-cat in our previous house n daily I used to feed milk to it with my own hand n caress it n she'd purr n rub herself over me.
One day she was hurt her paw n I tried to check it n she scratched my hand n I'd to take 5 antirabies injections just before my final MBBS examination. I was deeply hurt that the little feline I so much loved n cared for scratched n caused me harm.
Later I understood the little thing was very much in pain n reacted out of it.. 😭

One of the main reasons I am unable to move on from Devakshi even after Dev's brutal way of break up 😆
He is the same guy who doesn't take the side of wrong when his own brother misbehaves..

He is the same guy who gives his employees deserving leaves against any help (Sona's accident and blood-bank issue) ..

He is the same guy who doesn't take actions against a company or a man who tries to unfairly wrong his own business.. Just because he knows the plight of a father..

He is the same guy who doesn't like to prefer his own family and sisters at workplace and thus asks Rhea to hide her identity..

He is the same guy who cancels all his appointments and meetings and bears dont-know-how-much loss at business and waits for Sona for hours without complaints when it's his mistake..

This guy does big mistakes but when he is on apologizing spree, his sincerity touches your heart 😆 .. By all means, he reminds me of a kid.. Doesn't matter how lame it sounds, but yes, by heart he is as pure as a kid 😆 I can SO relate his behaviors to my niece of 4 yr old 😆..

Hope he grows up from his mother's '8-yr-old' baccha to a real 28-yr-old man before marrying Sonakshi 🤣
