You miss my point entirely. The show isn't awful. It's actually a very good one. The issue is with characterization at times.

All characters start with a background and from there one expects gradual change or growth in them.

If you pay attention Dev was not initially a doormat. He was opinionated, a little arrogant and rude. But still had great qualities that gave him a good starting point. Similarly Ishwari and Neha also had/have their issues.

We are seeing gradual char growth in Neha from her "the world has done me injustice and I won't have kids or live in a hut" to the current state of adjusting to living with in-laws in a small house. Gradually she might even consider having kids.

How would you feel if she stayed the same old Neha for the entire show??

Similarly Ishwari's issues are about loosing goddess status in her son's opinion. That didn't create a problem till Devakshi happened. Now we expect to see growth in her as she gradually understands Sonas importance in Devs life while getting the assurance from Devakshi that she won't be relegated to a corner in the kitchen.

How would you feel if she stayed an insecure mother for the entire show??

Consider Dev now. At work he was a successful businessman and at home he he was a good son and had his sisters respect. When he realized that he was in love but was about to be engaged, he thought through the issue, weighed all factors and dealt with them confidently. Explained it to Natasha, "INFORMED" not request, nor hesitate but confidently INFORMED his family about his decision. No need to get into the awesome proposal.😃😃

Since then his char has nosedived. He is having a conversation with Sona and Nikki barges in drags her away citing "movie on TV". Could you imagine this happening in the earlier episodes??
During the marriage just about everyone ignores his plight when Sona is locked in the room. His friend, Mamaji and even Nikki .. None of them do what he asks of them. I can list more but that should do.

Now consider the suicide track which is a major roadblock for his . He thinks she tried to commit suicide and overhears her concerned about being a bad mother. The Dev from engagement episode would have sat with her and discussed what her concerns were and why would she feel that she is a bad mother.

He doesnt ask her or talk to her. He also doesnt explain things to Sona. Just tells her. He doesn't sit and think through the current problem like he did earlier. He is now a bully at work and a billi at home.

He cannot even contemplate having a conversation with Ishwari. Sona won't talk to him. So how does he expect to solve this problem?? Divine intervention??

All he does is cry and throw things all around him. Where is the decisiveness?? Unless he makes up his mind forget Ishwari, he can't even approach Sona to apologise and makeup.

As it appears now can you imagine him fighting for his love. More likely Ishwari will realise and pity him and allow him to go get Sona. Till then he is going to put his head in Ishwari's lap and bemoan his predicament, while assuring her that he is perfectly fine.

U read my post on Dev?
And the response in this post?

Give CVs time..
Trust me dear.. Men are slower than normal..
Weaker than women
So his growth will b in similar way
Time is what we need to give..
His great mom is not giving him that..

Initially I won't deny seeing all the spoilers I got mad.. Wth is Dev doing.
Lying on his mom lap- but yday I didn't feel so

There was no honesty or craving for pampering- he got angry at her for her thoughts
His subconscious mind has started to ask- soon it will come to his senses-
He might b weak n not a Man U wud look upto .. But let's not humiliate someone who
Is weak.. Thank God we are stronger n pray for those who need strength.
Loved how Cvs showing gradual change in both.. Towards realisation.

Not sure if I make sense to u.. Coz am not great at writing like u all..

I am enjoying reading these posts so much @ Payalji, Jaanetu and Purva - From such controlling behavior, my main issue is lack of trust.. Sona is far more independent than Dev in all true aspects, thanks to her family.. She is far more mature to handle her own profession.. By interfering there trying to 'protect' her, shows his lack of trust in her professionalism.. What pisses me off in this show is the makers' blatant try of glorifying the ML by any means.. I remember there was an incident where Bijoy Bose went to Dev trying to threaten him to behave rightly with Sona and stop interfering in her personal space, but the makers showed Bijoy Bose realizing his mistake and coming back😕Something very similar to this one.. Today Dev is where Bijoy was that time - trying to protect someone dear to them.. But here they are justifying Dev's action where Bijoy's 'realization' was highlighted .. In both the incidents one thing is common - always the other party is wrong and how nice Dev is😊

This is a double standard coming from the makers itself.. Just because Dev started from zero and became a winner in the field of power and money, he is next to God.. However, like someone says - it's not whether you win or lose, it's about how you play the game.. I have already mentioned in one of my posts earlier, that this is why Dev is a failed product of Ishwari, because she primarily taught her son to win it, but never paid attention to how he gets his things done..

Dev has a bad upbringing.. N Bejoy doesn't.. Look at both mothers..
It's not glorifying him.. It's sympathising with a person like that

Recall Sona's words
I feel sorry for u Mr Dixit

I guess this show is too much to handle for those who cannot understand intrigue nature of people n men in general

i do find it creepy how he is stalking her now, but makers will again show that as how much dev loves sona... isnt he the one who ended the relationship?? so why is he stalking her then??

Am editing now...based on what a person just advised...

What keeps you hooked to watching the show? anything that excited you that doesnt now? or anything that you can share?

Sajniji,

You are all about human behavior and how they have faults and how we should understand and yet you "imply" that those who don't like certain aspects of the show should stop watching.

You have patience for a TV character but not for a fellow forum member...

Your contradiction is something else... Truly

I know and I am grateful for that. But you did question me as well.

Request you not to do that. When a person took the effort to post his thoughts on the forum we should be glad and appreciate it.

You could have asked the same question in a different way without sounding negative.

Like..I like the fact that leads are excellent actors what do you like??

Sounds better than "why do you watch"... Isn't it??

Apologies if I sounded patronising or lecturing.

below are my posts from june they pretty much explain why i like the show... in retrospect i do think i was too idealistic about the show... i was expecting maturity and character growth... dev's character had in the beginning gotten sona fired from her job and left her with no other option to take care of his mom... at that point in time i was annoyed, but since it was the first time i assumed that he would work on that and slowly change... even worse i expected him to change this "bullying/forcing/controlling" behavior during his relationship with sona, which would open his eyes to the fact there are different types of people and out of love/respect for them he should learn to give them space...

we're towards the end of august and dev is exhibiting the same signs as he has before. i don't mind flawed main characters in fact they can be interesting, but i prefer watching characters that own up to their flaws... not characters that justify their flaws as love...

worse i hate it when main characters bully someone.. treat their employees rudely when its their own fault... do not own up to their own actions/words... attempt to interfere in someone's life... these things are not fun to watch, and worse when the main character does not own up to any of this bad behaviour...

he is the one that broke up with sona...now he is stalking her and calling her his... he is the one that threw the phone but he yells at sonia for it.. now he is the one that threw the laptop... who will he blame to get the laptop fixed??...even after the phone throwing he never learned that he threw it, so he cant yell at his sec over it.. yes he is heartbroken, but he has a functioning brain, doesn't he?

i will watch the show for the characters and expect dev to use his head, to stop bullying people, to learn to give people space out of respect and love for them.. these are simple things and not a lot to ask for.. so no more suggestions not to watch the show..

last but not least i didnt like neha much in the beginning.. i found her too irritating but the way her character has grown and matured so beautifully... i have started liking her a lot!!

first time i have liked a confession on any show.

it was mature, realistic and very nicely done.

usually in shows the confession is abrupt or cheesy and a lot of mixed signals before that, but this was mature and tastefully done. it was nice to see him talk about his past. a relationship that starts off in this manner with mature individuals and a lot of understanding is more long lasting.

agree respect is the basis of any relationship. krpkab has a unique and mature take on relationships and emotions.

every relationship is depicted sensibly and a lot of thought is put into showing the most poignant emotions. shaheer is right this show does put a smile on the face. be it the mother-son bond or the troubled sister struggling with her childhood memories and trying to heal with her mother and brother supporting her and being patient with her or sona's bond with her family and elena or now sona-dev. all of the relationships and the emotions in them are depicted in a mature manner. with the exception of mami most of the characters try to show maturity, understanding, and support to one another and if they are difficult, then even the reasons behind that are shown.
