She created a big rift between the son and the daughters, now they cannot connect with each other at all. Are the daughters trying to be invisible from their mother's wrath? Why can't they be happy for their brother? They don't have to say it loud, at least they can show it from their actions that they are with him even if their mother is not.

Separately, the sisters were quite agreeable about Sona. Neha scolded Riya and Nikki for not telling her about such a huge thing. Neha looked genuinely okay with it because Dev bhai chose for himself someone. Nikki also looked happy as was Riya, who commented that Sonakshi was a really nice girl.

The girls have always taken back seat. Ishwari always dismisses them to their rooms and to not disturb Dev. Frankly after last night's episode, I think they are worried for Sonakshi and Dev, because they know what their mother is like.

Neha had this thought, "The more in love Dev Bhai is with her, the more problem Ma will have with the whole idea..." Very apt observation.

Neha has an important role to play here. She is the only samajdhar one on the Dixit side at the moment who can do anything with executive powers.😆

Excellent explanation.. couldn't be better... its so true that the only responsible person is ishwari.. day after day watching this serial I am more hardly thinking about my relation with my 3 year old daughter and kinda confused how to upbring in a right way so that nobody could point finger on her mother.. 😲

As long as he has her on a pedestal, equal to God, he won't be able to cross her. If they bring the Khatri angle back, I think it will play a big role in Dev's achievement of balance and sensitivity.

Yes, Khatri will be an eye opener. She paid him off for something. Fishy stuff.

So true about the pedestal Ishwari is on for Dev. He worships her, and that's fine. But she has to play the part too, share his joys and pain. But she just wants this status quo, and is blind to Dev's loneliness. A mother cannot (and must not!) do what a wife can do for a man. And that is not just sex, but companionship and growing (up and) old together.

Mama ji has spoiled his sister too much i think.

Thank you! Of course I don't mind... I made this post to start some good discussion 😉 I do think Ishwari is to blame for the divide between the siblings. Of course, she didn't intend for this rift but it is a direct result of the way she treated Dev differently from her daughters. To be fair, it was because she had limited resources and being from an older generation, figured that it was lucrative to make her son the primary bread-winner. She gave him everything he would need to be financially successful -- including the confident attitude that can only come from believing that things are black and white -- but she didn't give him the tools to deal with emotional complexity, because she figured it wasn't important. He would take care of the family's material needs, and she would take care of the household. Little did she realise that a time would come when he blurred those boundaries, assuming that it was alright with her.

As for the sisters, I think they know they can't really be happy for Dev until Ishwari approves from her heart, because until then, Dev's feelings can only lead to more pain and turmoil for all of them. Dev may be unaware of Ishwari's difficult and stubborn side, because she has tried her hardest to show him only her best side, but the sisters know better. They can either make the situation worse by joining in Dev's naive enjoyment or they can think about the long-term and try to see that his happiness is not destroyed prematurely. I think they chose the latter. 😊

Thanks, and wow! It's amazing that the serial is making people think about their real lives so much. 😲I honestly can't speak as a parent (since I'm not one!), but as a child who has recently gone through the transition from childhood to adulthood with my parents in a different way than they imagined, I think the most important thing is to trust your children, and trust that they have imbibed the best parts of your upbringing. Dev is such a wonderful man because of Ishwari, and he chose a wonderful partner like Sona because of the values she gave him. If only Ishwari could see how big an influence she has had on her son, she might not feel so insecure and obsolete in his life! ❤️

Their interactions so far seem to point to the possibility that Ishwari once maybe, um... "compromised her honour" to pay the rent. I would be so proud of the CVs if they were willing to go there, because it would touch on such a complex reality, and would challenge Dev's morality, which is based on the image of Ishwari as a paragon of virtue, in the most direct way.

It's funny, but I think that playing the part of Dev's god is what has gotten Ishwari into this mess. In her undending efforts to appear the ever-patient and selfless mother, she is suppressing any direct expression of her own desires, which is in turn the root of all her problems with Dev and Sonakshi. It is only when they can collapse the facade of this perfect relationship, from both sides, that they can move past the status quo. By choosing Sona without his mother's explicit consent and without her being the first to know of it, Dev has shattered his side of the facade. It remains to be seen how Ishwari's side is dealt with.

Wonderful write up as usual and thank you for this post. Even though their always chant of "Maa ko patha hai?" is too irritating still I also felt they dont have much options to behave differently(as we expected) with the way writers are driving this story towards separation at this moment with jet speed. I always felt like Neha will be the only ray of hope in future to make Ishwari realize the damage she did. She knows Ishwari In & out better than any person on this word and she never back of when it comes to showing mirror to Ishwari. She is the only one who has that courage.

Excellent post Sam!... True! They are holding themselves back so that try don't feed further to the already tense ambience. It's sad that they aren't in a position to freely express...I know Ishwari sidetracks them whenever they want to know something from their brother...But just like how the girls helped him realize that he was in love with Sona in their very own personal space.. We all were expecting them to do the same in their own way away from Ishwari's prying eyes & intrusive, distractive behavior.. They love their brother so much & we were looking forward to them jumping with joy. But yes they themselves are confused on how to react. It is really sad!

Seriously.. the show made me think about certain concepts of my mind and I am making efforts to think from another people's position and its just wonderful u know.. we will get justification without even asking them what made u do so??.

We are also brought up my our mother single handed and fortunately hadn'd faced so much financial crises because my mother had a job. But trust me money is a mere thing compared to 1000 other things she has to do for all three of us. We still adore her for the courage n efforts she made for us.. sacrifise is a very little word to use.. I could never imagine myself in her place since with all the help we (me n hus)hare having difficulties in managing our single baby😕 But unlike Ishwari maa the greatest gift we got from our mother is freedom.. she trust her children and we never made a single chance to break her trust... we had all the freedom to think and do what we like and never made a chance to disappoint her till now.. what I am deffinitely gonna pass on to my baby is giving her the freedom to be her own..

There are traces of Ishwari's character in ever mother I met. Even in me there is a little ishwari thinking our children is only ours not anyone else. But the earlier u sort it out by urself the easier things will be.. This show emotionally connects me well and that's why I am thinking this much hard and addicted to the show.. it always places a mirror to our inner self.

I agree with ur point that all the good qualities in dev is a reflection of Ishwari's upbringing only.. thank u once again for this post! I think mein kuch syaada emotional hogayi😆

Nice Post ...and excellent analysis...but I too have the same question...

Ishwari was never mother to Rhea and Nikki...we have heard in initial episodes also...Neha is like mother to Rhea & Nikki...

I just cannot take the interaction of Ishwari & Rhea before shopping from my mind...can any mother be like that...and felt ever more bad when Rhea said to bring (Chocolate or Ice-cream) for Nikki else she will be sulking...some thing like that
