If he couldn't make the situation better he had no business making it worse.

Then this morning with a calm head, as I read the WU and watched the episode... I sympathize with all of them. It is actually a herculean task to invoke such an emotion for all 3 leads. Usually we start pinning one against the other but here, somewhere along the way, all of them are justified... in their own twisted way, they are all justified.

My 2 cents worth...

Dev

A child gauges his parents behaviour based on how they react to his demands. We all knew our limits what was allowed what wasn't as we tested our limits. With Dev one of the issues has been he have never asked. He has never gauged what Ishwari's reaction would be if he asked something for himself. He hasn't done it... Kids know how their parents react if they ask for a book v/s a toy, a game v/s a phone, a watch v/s designer clothes.Selecting their choice of field in education, or the nature of their job, eventually selecting their friends to actually falling in love and getting married to a person of their choice.

Dev didn't even ask for a chocolate. So he is unsure of the reaction. He doesn't know if he can even ask for what he wants. Hell he doesn't even know how to ask. Hence his hesitation.

First of all ..sorry but I have to say ..I love you ..😆 because you pin pointed everything so correctly
coming yo Dev..his hesitation and relictance is result of his chilhood his past..he was always under resposibilities never thought about his own life and now he has done that..he is feeling scared..assuming everyone (specially Ishwari) might not welcome this change very happily and its fair enough for him to think so ..he doesnt want them to think him as selfish..he doesnt want them to misunderstand him in any way

I remembered I first discovered the forum.I loved reading articles, loved sharing my thought and yet for the longest time I didn't mention it to my husband. It was too embarrassing to share.. How do I share that I discuss a fictional story a serial and actually try and find logic. People discuss world affairs who does characters or episodes. But I needed to get on the forum. In Dev's words I need it for myself.

It took me a while to share, it invoked reactions worse than I expected, I got teased and the finally the acceptance. Sona is such for Dev. An emotional release and yet he doesn't know if this is normal. If it will be accepted and eventually even if, then how does he deal with it. Hence the secrecy.

He was ready. He was clearly ready to tell had GKB not broken his chain of thoughts and when she did he was again lost for words.

Sona...

The problem it seems why Sona isn't sharing her thoughts with her parents. Clearly her parents have guessed. Her father referred to her conversations with Saurabh and Elina and said you can talk to us also. Now whenever the Bose family comes to know, they will insist on talking to Dev meeting him and Dev clearly won't be ready to talk about it, unless he informs his mother. Hence Sona is not informing her family.

Once thing is clear that she has no qualms of telling them and the credit for that goes to her family. She is assured of their unconditional support so she is not worried about their reaction. Girls worry when the boy is not very educated or doesn't have a job to support the girl... But here her family already knows Dev and they respect him a lot.. So that cannot be a problem for her.

Absolutely..She knows her family is supportive and wont ever reject this proposal also they wont blame her or attack her (unlike ishwari) for hiding her relationship..coz they trust her..and its very obvious for any indian parents to talk to boy's family if they get to know about their daughter's relationship

Ishwari...

If I looked at the first convo... she was so hopeful that he will share, in fact she was encouraging him to share. Had she said Nutrition...he would have latched on and shared. Had he said Sonakshi, she would have latched on to complete the conversation. But Dev and Ishwari both are so insecure and unsure of each other's reaction that neither read the cues.

Dev doesn't know to ask Ishwari doesn't know to give to Dev... They are stuck at their roles.

well said..very well said 👏

When Ishwari started cooking on the floor, I thought it was her way of recreating the past. Trying to tell Dev that nothing has changed. She is still the same the situation is still the same. All he needs to do is come running to her and share without fear like he did when he was a kid. I think she was trying to remind him of that conversation... so he can open up. But when our tubelight didn't take the hint, she didn't realize that he is confused, she interpreted it as he doesn't want to share.. that caused the entire over-reaction according to me.

well honestly how I judged it was as Ishwari's way to show that she isn't useless for her kids and dont want to feel ignored..but it could be what you are stating..reminding Dev of their chilhood days..well Ishwari confuses me many times..loll

Dev-Sona
Both are in the same boat. Both are questioning the very foundation of their relationship. He with his mother. She with him. The only difference is she is vocal about it. Dev doesn't know what he will do if Ishwari doesn't agree, Similarly Sona doesn't know what she will do if Dev doesn't.

Opening up about ones love is not easy. Remember how many failed attempts Sona made to tell Dev about her feelings. She didn't want to lose the friendship atleast.
well put dear..perfect justification 👍🏼

Dev will go through that with Ishwari. Just because he was able to confess to Sona at one go... we expect that he will confess to Ishwari at one go. With Sona he didn't have anything to lose. Now that he knows the emotion, the love the dependency, now that Sona has grown to become his life itself... he has everything to lose.

yes this time his priced possesion is on stake SIGHH..yes he did confess to sonakshi Confidently smoothly because he felt genuine happiness in life for the first time..he felt estatic to have some just for himself ..he felt free , liberated..he could feel the emotion called "love" was so exciting for him..and yes please give him time and understand his emotional condition

We can't really judge on one episode. Give him time. The transition showcased is beautiful. and we know he will by the end of the week... so Tab tak... Lambi Saans lo... Relax.

Wonderful post !!! Loved it and agree with you completely. Dev is over burdened by too much expectation. First and foremost from family, now from Sona and also last but not the least from the fans😆 Poor guy. He needs a breather.
All his life he lived for others. His dream was to live up to his mothers dreams. To fulfill even her untold wishes. Even now he is doing it. Ishwari's remark about rich people not helping kids in need happened many years before. But Dev never forgot that. He never dreamed for himself. As if to reward him for his selflessness for all these years heaven itself dropped an angel just for him into his lap. He fought, resisted and tried pushing her away so as not to change the status quo but eventually fell head over heels in love with his angel. She was just perfect for him. She completed him in such a way that only then he realized how incomplete he was. She accepted him as he was with all his faults because she understood that he has a heart of gold underneath all the thorns. She became the reason for him loving his tomorrows. She was his hope, his dream his better half.

Now the time has come for him to tell his mother who was everything to him, about his angel. He worshiped his mother for her unwavering faith in him, her resilience, her courage, her spirit, her capacity to endure the hardships smilingly, and for her fights which brought their family into their successful present. But how to ask her? What if she doesn't like his choice? Will she think that he is selfish? Will she become disappointed in him? He can't see her disappointed and he can't live without his angel. What is he to do? He is torn between these conflicting emotions. Better not to tell her so that he get to keep his mother happy and his angel with him. He knows he cannot keep going like this forever. But he will tackle it another day. For today he wants to remain in that bliss.

Ok wow! Your post makes so much sense. I kindof feel bad for Dev after reading. Well, I do have some issues with him, but that's okay! I can cut him some slack, now that I know where he's coming from. Brilliantly explained btw, it was a lovely read.
The only thing I would like now is if the makers show Sonakshi having a life outside the Dixit household, some friends, some problems of her own.. I say all this because it's necessary that she has a life to get back to, after her break up. She is on the path to making Dev her entire life. And after the break up, she might end up discovering that there is nothing left to live apart from him, and that would break my heart. I have seen this happening to countless girls, and would hate my favorite character to be dealt such a hand. Well, the promos did show her in a wonderful light and I hope its maintained. Just my 2 cents :)

Lovely post and to the point.
you have just put into words what I had been feeling,..
its really not easy for Dev to say it...
What i like about the show is if not 100% it is gorunded...

it is very rare on Indian television that one sees such a show in the day and age of saas bahu dramas...and kitchen politics.

Going by the cast esp having Supriya in the show.. you can rest assured we are all in for a treat. She is an actor of susbtance...and completely befitting to Ishwari's caharcter.
Your should see her in "Radhaa Ki Betiyaan Kuch Kar Dikhayengi " and "sassural genda phool" .

Dev will tell Ishwari- but he needs time--we ahve to wait-just till the end of the week...but what happens next-is what I am personally waiting for...how are the writers going to showcase Dev's relaisation that Ishwari is not happy with this relationship, starting with the Photoshoot...

How to deal with a mother's love and possesiveness at the same time making the mother understand she is a mother and no one cant change that- a fairly more difficult challenge for Dev as the equation is slighlty different as he became the parent to his own mother a long time ago without either of them realising-like Neha said "Bhai takes all the descisons"

Lovely post... sorry for adding my two cents...
keep writting...
love to read..

Sam

I am all for Sona leaving the Dixit mansion... Its time.. Its high time... I though after confession they should have discussed this... At least said after a month she will work out... so all this could also happen and yet we have the hope that she is leaving...

That I am a little disappointed...
But yesterday's episode I actually felt a lump in the throat looking at Dev.. The pause where Mami drops the tiffen, the expressions that Shaheer gave... him collecting himself, realizing he will not be able to complete what he came for, the disappointment there like he has lost the battle even before participating in it.. and quitely wiping his tear...

Felt very bad for Dev... Kudos to Shaheer.
