I don't understand one thing when Dev realises his feelings for sonakshi he without a second thought cancelled his engagement took risk and could not even wait for 4hrs and went to sona house and expressed his feelings for her. He wasn't even sure of sona's feelings towards him still he had that courage to express..

But in the case of ishwari where till now he dint hesitate to say anything or to share but he is hiding here as per him he is sure she will not deject or reject his decision still not able to express his feelings . The courage which he had while expressing his feeling to sona is missing here.

Is he really not sure of sona ???

Or

Is he not ready to face ishwari in this regard ?? Or he knows that ishwari doesn't like this but he is pretending as if she will agree for sure his relation ????

I feel that he got carried away with his new found emotions of Love for Sona and rushed into telling her and is now basking in the love that is returned but in subconscious level I think he knows his mother will not approve so he wants to avoid the topic as much as he can. I don't think he thought this thru and now the real story of Dil and Dimaag will start. Hopefully the Heart wins!. I feel sorry for Sona who is caught in between and I for now think that it is about time for her to let him know her stand and stand up for her self respect if he truly loves her he needs to fight for her.

Not sure if I made any sense

I m so upset with Dev today...
My mind is nt working.I will still try. Today Ishwari tried to make him comfortable but Dev disappointed her as well.
I also thought if he still not sure or he doesn't care abt Sona as he again mentioned to hide their relationship. It was after Sona's advise that his Ma will feel bad..he again agreed.
I somewhere believe he is taking Sona for granted. He did not cared abt her feelings..nd as soon as she mentioned his mom in their convo, he got convinced.
For upcoming confession as well, just coz mamaji will tell him abt Ishwari's behavior, then only he will confess..
I mean if Ishwari is fine..he would have ignored the confession again..
I really want Sona to go away from him...If he really loves her, he will realise her worth. For that i strongly believe Sona has to leave...He has to go through that phase. He has to suffer like Sona suffered during Natasha's sequence..

This is a really good question. I think it's all about risk management- Dev is a businessman after all! 🤓 In the case of confessing his love, Dev was indeed on a high from his realisation, but also the stakes were relatively low overall and only high for his own feelings. Realizing that he loved Sona definitely meant that he didn't love Natasha so it made sense to end things with her, and Sona's answer to his confession would just be between the two of them, and by that time he knew her well enough to be confident that she would be kind even if she didn't feel the same way. If she didn't, barring some awkwardness and personal heartache which he hid from his family (what's new?), his life would not be that much altered.

Telling Ishwari about Sona is a much bigger deal in terms of how it will affect him and his entire family. Even if he truly believes with all his heart that Ishwari will approve, revealing his relationship with Sona means that he is letting the outside world into what has been a very private space for just the two of them. As soon as he makes their relationship public, people will start to have an opinion about it, and talk about marriage, class difference, her job, his job, her family, his family will all start to trickle in. And that is the BEST case scenario! 😆

It all comes down the fact that once he tells Ishwari, the nature of his and Sona's relationship is going to change. Sona sees it changing for the better because she is used to being open with her family about her dreams and desires, and knows how this openness can enrich relationships. Dev is the guy who never once voiced a desire of his own to his family, so hard has he worked to retain the image of a perfect, wholly selfless son. In asking Ishwari to accept Sona, he is doing something he has never done before, something he has been tacitly taught is selfish. The time he and Sona have spent since the confession has shown Dev unprecedented happiness, and he's afraid of losing what he already has in the effort to get more, so he is trying to prolong the status quo as much as he can.

Obviously, this is not a sustainable situation and it will come to bite in the bee-hind, but for now, it's hard not to sympathise. 😊

@Samanalyze perfect as always but still too may questions !.
If as a family they were taught to not expect anything for themselves and it was selfish to do so why was Neha able too and why was Easwari ok with it?

I don't think Ishwari was/is okay with Neha asking for things; it was always Dev who indulged her out of a combination of love and guilt for her lost childhood. For Neha, asking for material things was a way of demanding attention and validation for the work she had done to make their family successful. Demanding things directly is also how Neha rebels against Ishwari's hypocrisy: Ishwari doesn't ever ask for things directly, but finds other ways to get what she wants while retaining her innocent/mahaan image -- like when she broke the vase and got slapped to make Dev go to school. Even now, Ishwari always lectures Neha about respecting Ranveer's personality, his self-respect, his family without really thinking about the difficulties this poses to Neha, or how Ranveer could adjust for her. Ishwari preaches high ideals but is actually quite a shrewd pragmatist in her actions. She put all her effort into Dev because she foresaw the girls leaving after marriage; Dev was hers to keep (I don't buy the whole Dev being the most "honhaar" excuse after seeing how hard Neha worked to learn English). This doesn't make Ishwari a negative character necessarily, but the conflict of her ideology and her children's is what creates the story.
