What a beautiful episode & end to the week. Loved it.
I don't want to think about the Mother for now but she is linked with Dev... So...

My heart went out to Sonakshi & loved Dev's brief smile on seeing his Sona as he opened his eyes and his restlessness that made him come looking for her. I felt for Sona's tears but for me the precap stood out... A boy in love finally coming to face the real world...

"Teri aankhon mein apne liye nirasha nahi dekh sakta. To mein bina jhijak tere se kah doon..."

This for me defines this show really. The crux of the dynamics between the 3 people...

Sonakshi is the only person he ever wanted for himself. Only his! He is deeply in love. He might have all the confidence in the world that his Mother supports him in everything but what if his Mom is disappointed that he got selfish and chose something/one for himself.

The stakes are too high. He can't lose this one and unlike many things that he just goes out and gets, he needs his mother's acceptance here.

What if ...

In this Mother-Son bonding, he has never asked anything for himself, never shared his deep worries and always tried to do everything to make his family happy especially his Mother... He believes his Mother will support him in all his decisions but what if...

He is afraid ... He is nervous... He knows it will be a Yes but what if it's a No...

It's the butterflies in the stomach when you go for a job interview... for that position in that company that you really truly want...
You have prepared for it and know that you are qualified but what if...
You might have given many interviews but when the question is of THE one and that's the one & only chance...!
The butterflies in the stomach do a break dance then...

The ONE thing I want & this ONE chance I have...

He is not someone who will go against family for his love (something that he wants for himself) so he is not thinking 'no matter what'

His Mother is everything for him. His family is very important. He has said this many times so he can't be thinking of a scenario where his Mother doesn't agree and he still stands by his love (unfortunately)... He needs his Mother to back him in this decision of all decisions...

Dev was nervous, scared, expectant but worried of that what if...
Knowing its yours but what if you lose it...

Dev can declare his love from the rooftops but first he needs his mother's blessing! His God...

What an irony that the one person who is most important to Dev will be THE person to drown herself & Dev in sorrows as her insecurities tell her 'she's not important anymore' ...
As they say, 'we build our own reality'

Shaheer brings out the emotions, fear, nervousness so beautifully & innocently...
Looking forward to Monday...

Your post is so beautiful I dnt even have any words to express. Somethings are so precious to us that we cannot fathom losing them though the fear is always there ...somethings are so important to us, we realise we are at a good position with respect to them but still the heart is at unrest... Same is the case with Dev .. His God will make him lose the one and only thing Dev has ever wanted for himself... Its utterly sad. Everything is OK, everything is good if only Ishwari can see through the reality!! If only...
ONce again... I loved ur post a lot. It's V poignant and meaningful.

This to me is what the story revolves around... and kind of speaks to all those initial promos...
I felt so sad looking at Dev in the precap... and couldn't help but feel nirash in the Mother...

Thank you so much for reading & appreciating...

beautiful post... agree 100%...
even though they share a strong bond and he is 100% sure that she will accept ... he still is nervous and will probably take more than one attempt to actually say it to her... (as per sbs segments).

lets see how it goes... it is not easy to confess that you are in love with your parents even if they are liberal and you probably already know the outcome...

My sentiments exactly and I expressed something similar in my post...I felt bad for Dev for his hesitation and disappointed with Ish.

Dev - He's still a mystery to me in knowing his thoughts...
Not at all sure what's running in his mind at that moment when he's sitting with his mom.. whether it's an announcement of his own choice of a girl as girlfriend or wife? Or is it a permission for his marriage? Or is it something about his hiding? Is he feeling guilty for not sharing the news with her or the background thought process of whether mother will think him to be irresponsible or diverted from his goals of reaching heights in his career?😕

And what will he do when it comes to making his decisions against his mother... Will he be that stubborn boy who he claims himself to be to get what he wants to achieve/possess!! But I know Sona isn't something that he wants to achieve/possess like a success in his business.. 😆

He's a big❓ for me and may be that keeps my curiosity on to know what will he do...😃

How precisely you said it all👏 Such a beautiful post. . Nothing to add here.
Dev knows his love is the only thing that he has needed just for himself, rest every single thing he has done till now was related to to his responsibilities and self-satisfaction. . .
Like you said, his mother's approval matters the most to him. . He cannot imagine Ishwari not being happy with his decisions. .
But the 'What If' makes him hesitant to share his feelings.. What if she is not happy, He knows that he will hold himself back sub consciously if he realises that She is not content.
Dev was avoiding the confrontation for the exact same reason, he taking his own time to find the ideal moment so that nothing can go wrong.
But, now there is a sense of urgency after what all happened yesterday. . He cannot delay things anymore as it would him and Sona both. . He has to talk his heart out.
I feel so bad for him

We think alike 😊

After a lovely episode, felt really bad for Dev, the boy who is bound by high expectations & responsibility... The fear in his eyes and the power Ishwari has... He will give up everything for her and she is lamenting about someone else coming in his life...

Going by the segments, he will not be able to share now and will try again... will have to face the kitchen drama of his mother... I so feel for this Son! and I want to shake up Ishwari!

Of course, I feel for Sonakshi but she is in love with this Man and she will stand by him.

There is nothing wrong in loving your parents to bits and Dev has made his mother, his God.
There is everything wrong in forgetting your parents as you move on in life but ...in this Mother-Son equation when Ishwari says she felt they are One !!!!!!!! She knows nothing about her Son!!!

PS: Loved your post... 😊

Here's my 2 cents on Dev...

This is a simple and straight forward soul. Sons are emotionally attached to mothers and cannot see her cry and Dev, the little boy, saw his mother in way too much pain. He grew up very fast. He wanted to take on all responsibility that is pressuring his mother and he did. He put his heart and soul in getting his family out of the poverty they were in. He has seen how his mother supported him all through - his studies, his basic needs, the love she showered on him, her care. I am sure when he was building his empire, she would stay awake late nights to make sure he eats & sleeps. A dutiful Son never forgets & is obliged. His empire is for his family so he is returning in full what he feels he got special.

In all this, Dev the child never grew up. Never got time, space or thought to be himself. If allowed to naturally grow, he would have been a dutiful but full-of-life little boy and would carry his heart on his sleeves. With him, you get what you see...

He has immense respect for his mother and worships her. He is about to do what he never did - ask something for himself. He has only ever taken what his mother lovingly gave him (halwa etc etc). They make all decisions together but he made this important decision for himself without even telling her, forget taking her consent. (1)

During the Natasha track, she did tell him to decide for himself but he kept coming back to her. even when she was not giving her opinion, they were having a conversation. Things were not hidden. This is the first time he has not only made a personal decision but also hidden it from her. (2)

The many things he did related to family and hid from her , he almost always got pulled up for them. His mother didn't agree and after the latest episode of trying to gift Ranveer a flat, she even told him to talk to her first. Everything he hid, she ended up not agreeing to them. Although, at the time he didn't feel she will disagree - therefore everytime the after-conversation would be 'tujhe bhi aisa lagta hai ki main galat hoon'.

Now it is the uncertainity - He doesn't feel he did anything wrong but what if she doesn't agree...!!

The little boy in him is scared and feels he did something wrong (because of the above 2 points).
We are not comfortable just one fine day coming home and telling our parents that we are in love, it is much more difficult Dev.

And even if he might feel that his mother will support him, he is scared of that what if... what if she doesn't.

If she doesn't, he wouldn't know what to do. He cannot think of a revolution against his mother. He may be all stubborn and a fighter for the world but he will lay down his arms in front of his mother. We may feel this is not right for Sona but she knows who she is in love with. On top of it, he has stressed multiple times how important his mother & family are. Neither will want to revolt and neither will live happily if family is unhappy.

So this boy is not thinking that far. For now, he is only thinking about his conversation with his mother & what her response will be. It is one step at a time.

OK! My 2 cents actually became a dollar 😊 ... I need to stop...
