This is same as parent not sharing problem with children when they are not grown up.

This is the fact.The person who holds the responsibilities tend to hold problems in his own. Ishwari should accept that she does not know Dev's problems and also that she should give him some space to live his own life.

She is hurt because Dev has not told her about his feelings for Sona which is understandable.As a mother she deserves to know but instead of sulking she should trust her son and wait for him to tell her about his decision.

The problem is Dev not telling her first ( I don't know how to interpret the first... does she expect he will tell before he confessed to the girl) Because anytime he would tell her after that... the reaction would have been the same.

Also it is not like he has eloped with her.. and Ishwari didn't know... He just hasn't told her as yet. But the environment was never conducive for Dev to share... If Ishwari had once mentioned to Dev... tu bahut khush lag raha hai... koi hai kya.. tu mujhse baat kar sakta hai...

Dev would definitely have shared.

You are right in one of your earlier posts. Ishwari is Dev's responsibility. The more I think about it, the more I realise how true that statement is. He has seen his mom struggle to take care of them / him when he'd been a child. He did whatever he could but the majority of the responsibility had rested on her shoulders.

Now he has grown up and taken over that from his mother. He wants her to relax. Not think or worry about anything. She's done that all these years and he doesn't want her to do it anymore. Maa tu chinta na kar. Mein sab sambhal loonga. Maa tu tension kyu leti hain. These are the most frequently used words to her.

So, he won't share his thoughts. Whatever they are. He will handle them as he sees it fit - be it Nikki's issues or Neha's or his own engagement with Natasha. Not sharing is a norm rather than an exception for Dev. And the exception is Sona. He sees her as his equal. His partner. He is learning to share his thoughts with her. He's still not completely used to it. Like he didn't tell her what's going on with the Gujral business deal due to the broken engagement etc. She came to know and asked. She is teaching him. Showing him that life can be easy / lighter that way. And he is learning. And relishing that feeling of unburdening himself in front of her - be it about his meeting or missing Neha or his mom's health.

Dev not telling about his love life, him hiding it from her is troubling her but more than that it is that Sona has made such a important part in Dev's life is threatening her more.

Agree with you, never thought of it though... But the difference is, if those things were hidden from Ishwari, they were hidden in the complete sense... It wasnt like they kept dropping hints of something being hidden from her... She came to know of it only after the issue was finished - for instance the neha ranveer thing... In this case, they are being caught time n again and it is more like they are pretending to hide their relation more than actually hiding it... They are egging her that look, we are upto something but wont share with you...

@blue - I think yes. Her level of possessiveness is such that she wants his thoughts to practically go through her. If he has feelings for the girl, he should her tell first and then to the girl.

Even if we do assume that Ishwari wants to be the first to know AFTER he confesses his feelings to the girl, the delay is what would hurt her. Any time after confession doesn't work for most mothers. The more he delays, the more worked up she would get, especially if she already has an inkling. Why is he not saying anything? Why is he hesitating with me? Does he think I would object? Does he think I will stand in the way of his happiness? Logical aspects like - environment not conducive to share etc won't wash at that point.
