Chapter 13:

The next morning Kaushal was surprised to see Sonakshi arrive at the office before time.

"Hey...everything all right? You don't look well..." He raised his concern.

"I am perfect..What time does Mr. Dixit arrive usually?"she asked

"By 9AM most probably...you have some work?"Kaushal was curious.

"Nopes...just asking...by the way I am still very new to this city...and my sister has also gone back home...it gets super lonely at times"Sona started with her small talk.

"Well...if you want I can accompany you for the city tour"Kaushal offered.

"That will be perfect...you are so nice Kaushal" Sonakshi flashed her famous smile.

"If you guys are done planning for the weekend...can I get last week's report please?" They heard Dev's voice from behind.

"Sure sir" Kaushal handed him the required files while Sonakshi did not even bother to look at him.

"Miss. Bose...may I know the whereabouts of your file?" Dev asked super politely.

"The file will be on your table by noon Sir" Was her reply.

"Ok...I will be waiting" He said closing the door.

"Why are you both so so polite to each other?"Asked Kaushal and just got a smile from Sona. She had a lots of stuff to say to Dev after yesterday's episode but she knew it was pointless.

Exactly at 12:00PM Sonakshi tapped door of Dev's cabin.

"Come in"

"Here is your file and also I will be needing this year's quotations in order to do the estimation"Sona said.

"Fine" Was Dev's reply. He did notice that since morning Sonakshi had avoided eye contact with him.

"Do you want to say anything else as well Ms Bose?" He probed further knowing very well that this will only anger her more.

"Oh...no no...I am sure you have lot of other important stuffs to think about. Will talk later" Saying this she was about to leave.

"Sonakshi...kya hua?Kyu gussa ho itna?" Dev asked her finally.

"And you have no idea why?"She questioned instead.

"No..Kya hua?"

"Accha...and kal raat jo bhi hua tha uske baare main kuch kehna hai tumhe?"She thundered.

Dev closed his file with a snap.

"Aisa kya unusual ho gaya kal raat? You seemed fine last night"

"Dev...you kissed me and now you are acting as if it's not a big deal?"

"Sonakshi...if I remember correctly you kissed me back..and last night you were not complaining about it. "Dev was ready with his reply.

"I was too much shocked and I did not kiss you back " Sona replied dryly.

"Of all the people you are lying to me?"

"Listen...you took me by surprise"she tried to explain.

"Ohk...now I see the problem..dont worry next time it wont be a surprise"pat came his reply.

Sona looked at him. Dev was trying his best to control his laughter and that made her all the more angry.

"Tum to humesha se hi besharam the...but how dare you..."Sona was not able to finish her sentence because she was interrupted by Tina.

"Miss Bose...If you can excuse us..I will continue with the discussion after a while if you don't mind" Dev

Sona had no choice but to leave him with his work. He has managed to successfully irritate her and now she knew very well that focusing on the job is out of question. So she went outside to take a small walk. She just wanted to do anything to keep her mind from thinking about yesterday's event. Whatever happened she was so hugely impacted while Dev didn't even seem to care about it all.

This is so unfair' She thought severely. She had thought of maintaining an extremely professional relationship with Dev which seems impossible now. Suddenly Kaushal's call interrupted her chain of thoughts.

"Sonakshi...where are you? Did you take half day off or something? Mr. Dixit's secretary has been looking for you ..there is this meeting and your attendance is urgent"

"I will be there in fifteen minutes"

Sona had to run all the way to the office because she could not drive. She had a feeling that today nothing was going to be smooth. She barely managed to reach on time and was straightaway ushered in the meeting room. Inside Aditya was addressing a whole bunch of people. Dev was nowhere to be seen.

"Oh here is that new joinee..Miss Sonakshi Bose"Adi introduced her to the crowd.

Suddenly Sonakshi was the centre of attention and she had no idea why. Aditya briefed her. There was a conference to be held in Seattle and she was supposed to represent the company. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and her previous proposals had managed to impress the management to the extent that they suggested her name for this purpose.

"Adi...are you sure?I mean last time even though you all liked my proposals ,Mr. Dev Dixit ended up rejecting all of it" She had her doubts.

"Sonakshi...Dev has agreed on your name along with other people. You are currently everyone's favouriate it seems" Adi laughed.

This was a good news. Finally she will be away from all this chaos for a while and sort her thoughts. She definitely needed a break from Dev Dixit.Somehow handling him was becoming more and more difficult for her..she thought depressingly.

"I am thankful to all of you for this opportunity. When do I leave?"

"Tommorrow morning..Tina will provide you with the tickets and rest of the details "

"Thank you" said Sona happily.

The entire day passed by in her preparation. Tina did come to her to handover the tickets and explain the accommodation arrangements. It was a two day trip and she will be far far away from New York City and Dev Dixit.

'A much needed break' she thought excitedly.

Suddenly she realized that Dev is nowhere to be seen in the office.

"Chalo good ...he is also not here...next two days I will be at peace atleast" Finally things were looking good for her.

By the time Sona reached her house she was dead tired but also excited. After packing her stuffs she called her parents to inform them about her trip. They were happy after hearing her excited voice after so long.

Next day she arrived to the airport on time and after finishing all the formalities entered the aircraft. It was a business class. Ishwari Enterprises was known for treating their employees royally and this was one such example. Sona settled quickly. It was a good day and she was excited. Everything can wait now!!

Five minutes were still left for the flight to take off when Kaushal called her.

"Hi Sona...all the best...we know you will rock it"

"Thanks Kaushal. You also take care"

"Sonakshi...you sound very happy"

"Of course...it is like all expense paid trip for me. Just one conference and then the entire day will be my own. Will be exploring Seattle .You have no idea how badly I needed this break"

"But Sona...how can you enjoy this much when the boss is with you"questioned Kaushal.

"What do you mean Kaushal"Sona was puzzled.

Suddenly she heard a certain familiar voice: "Excuse me Miss Bose...would you mind removing your jacket from my seat?"

No!!!!!!!
