I disagree with your views on a Oedipus relationship. This soap is focussed on the mother-son relationship wherein Ishwari considers her son above all and is very possessive and protective about him. He is still a kid for her, so she expects him to discuss every detail with her. But Dev has grown up and is now shown as moving into the next phase of his life - choosing his better half. There hav been several scenes shown in this serial, wherein Ishwari's daughters hav playfully accused her about being biased towards Dev. It is true. Though Ishwari defends herself commenting that she loves all her kids alike, there is no doubt that her expectations from Dev are very different.

Dev is aware of this and hence chooses to wait to reveal all. He also knows that his mother is capable of figuring out all this herself, which would save him the trouble. 😃

It's a beautiful relationship. Let's leave it at that. 😃

After Ishwari's husband passed away, Dev has been the one who brought stability in their lives. He has been their lifeline and She is clinging on to him for survival. Her fear is that Dev would forget them or love them less if someone else comes in his life. Ishwari loves her children but she has that wee bit extra affection for Dev because he succeeded in life and did what she expected him to do.
Yes Ishwari has a problem.. Obsession Between any relationship is unhealthy. Ishwari is not obsessed with Dev because of her love for her son, but her obsession springs more from her insecurities, It's more about what if's?

What if Dev loves someone else more than them?
What if that other person takes Dev away from them?
What if Dev doesn't want to look after her and his sisters anymore?
What if we fall back in that pit of poverty if the person influences Dev and separates us from Dev?

Ishwari has put the struggles they faced after her husband died on a pedestal. They were in a comfortable place when her husband was alive.. They are more than comfortable now. In her subconscious..her husband passing away is an event she wants to forget, as it's a reason for their sufferings. So even thought she respects her husband and their life she does not speak about it much. But on the other hand Dev rescued them. Therefore Dev is more of a Hero for her.

Ishwari is not a bad mother.. She loves all her children equally but she is a little selfish for her family happiness and her obsession for Dev comes from this selfishness.

Ha ha I won't call it Oedipus complex...!! 😆 But yes, most of her actions are very disturbing & sounds very unhealthy...the instances when Neha says that Ishwari won't let her daughters in between the mother & son and the instance where Ishwari tells Dev that they thought they were one...all sounds weird... these dialogues takes Ishwari's insecurities & possessiveness a notch higher up or two... But we must also remember that's she's holding onto the past, she's holding on to Dev. He was a support then when they going through a bad phase & she wants the same support & attention now as well... She needs to realize that Dev has grown into an adult now & she also needs to grow up as well... She's still stuck in the old time zone. She needs to zap out of that... She needs to realize that there have been so much more changes in her life other than Dev.

There are mothers out there who hold on to their sons in this kind of weird/unhealthy/ abnormal way. And I'm beginning to realize that the dialogue where she says that she thought them as one was directed to those mothers. They had to hear it so that they realize how weird they are to their sons as well... So far this show has always had a realistic approach to it and the makers are just trying to delve deeper into it. People who have absolutely loving parents & siblings will find it extremely abnormal..

Hahaha.. the Oedipus complex was bang on! It's more like a reverse Oedipus.. I've always found it creepy the way she looks at Dev.. her expressions seem psychotic sometimes! At least emotionally she treats Dev as her husband more than her son.. and that's very unhealthy. Ishwari needs therapy. And a life partner. It would've been understandable had she been just as possessive about all her children. But she has no qualms about neha getting married to a person of her choice, why just Dev? It's something she really needs to address and figure out.
