I was a little disturbed with how Ishwari was reacting yesterday. I was not able to digest her childlike behaviour infront of Dev, her possessiveness towards him.
I was wondering why such a sensible lady like Ishwari is behaving in such a way. I was even a little apprehensive about Dev still hiding DevAkshi from her.

I got a chance to go through the show from Episode 1 today. As I was never too involved with the series from the beginning, never payed attention to the conflicts happening.

I have reached episode 5, and Oh Boy! I am totally thrilled at the way so much consistentcy has been maintained in Ishwari's character.
She has always been complex. Always very insecure regarding Dev.
What is more important for a mother, than providing her unhappy daughter. .whatever she desires. Ishwari is on cloud nine in Episode 4 when Neha's Roka ceremony happens.
But, the ground from her feet is shaken when she overhears Mami talking about Dev's rishta. She does not even consider the girl, Saloni as a DIL. She tries to avoid talking to mami all throughout the day to avoid confrontation.
When forced to do so, She clearly refuses!
"Mere bete ki zindagi ke faisle lene ka haq sirf Mera hai. . "
"Muje apne ghar me tulsi ka paudha chahie . .gulaab ka phool nahi"

When you know how hurt and dejected Neha has been throughout her life, a mother will definitely consider the best options she has and then reach to conclusions.
Ishwari did not even once think about Dev getting married, she refused.
"Abhi Dev ki umr nahi hui hai, mai khud uske liye ladki chunungi"
I think the problem with Ishwari is not because she doesn't want him to get married at all, but more that she wants total control over his decisions and his life.
Mami ji correctly points out that day, that Ishwari has no problem when Mami fixes a rishta for Neha. . But wants to decide alone for Dev. She questions her love and affection towards her children. .whether she is biased towards Dev.

Even then her insecurity was at peak, She said a huge NO! On the ladkewala's face, without even thinking of the consequences on Neha's emotional being.
Ishwari has always been truly blinded with Dev's love, she can't see anything else when it comes to keeping him close.

It is not about him getting married, She had no objection with Natasha. .because she still had the control over his life and emotional decisions then.

Dev has always been such an obedient child, always been there for his mother. .Ishwari is so used to the security of having him to rely on. . That she is fearful of letting him go.
She fears that she won't be the most 'influencing' person of his life anymore, that she won't be able to have control, not control per say, but influence over his life anymore.
And Sonakshi being Dev's own choice. . Ishwari's insecurities have grown by leaps and bounds.
But she has always has been that possessive mother, Its just that she seems more scary nowšŸ˜†
(Even Dev, I noticed never bothered to share any big issue with Ishwari since the beginning. .until it was already revealed or when he had no option left. Without having a solid reason..he chose not to let Ishwari know about Neha's shart)
Kudos to the team for maintaining the consistentcy of the character.šŸ‘

See even there Ishwari said... mein tulsi jaisi bahu chahati hoon.
I rememeber a forum member making a beautiful parallel.

Gulab ka phool ghar mein rehata hai aur Tulsi Aangan mein rehati hai.

She wants a tulsi jaise bahu jo rahe... par uske aur Dev ke equation mein nahi aaye.

Excellent Post

Indeed Ishwari was one character that has been consistent but she also gets influenced way to quick by Radha Rani
