I found someone uncharacteristic today...the CVs !! For the simple reason that normally, they are unpredictable...today, however, I felt Ishwari being moulded very, very predictably.
One thing I have loved about the writing of this show is that all characters ( well, except Mamiji ) have been shown to be normal i.e have both good and bad sides. Till date, when they have shown Ishwari's possessiveness about Dev, they have always, at some point shown her feeling guilty to an extent about it. For example - during his engagement track, her convo with God that she wants his happiness, so why isn't she happy...and her snapping at Sonakshi but immediately regretting it.

Last couple of episodes, and esp today - there was no guilt, no redeeming look, comment, glance. Nothing. Which , to me , is making her the normal 'Saas Bahu' saas. I agree they need to build up her issues with Sona, and Dev's tussle between them...but it shouldn't be at the cost of making her a one dimensional clingy, bitchy MIL.

My pov strictly - just that today's episode didn't make me happy.

Today Ishwari wanted her son to pamper her she got it too
she spoke about his childhood and she could see the love in his eyes for his mother the admiration he has for her but she seems to want all of Dev only for her
Today her approach was more of a lover then a mother maybe its her way to drive Sonakshi away
lets see what happens

I has similar thoughts and posted the below in another thread last week -

The number of posts on this topic (why is Ish reacting like this) just go to show how weak the basic plot line of the show is, especially when they chose to set it in a realistic space.

The annoying/misogynistic/creepily possessive/regressive anti woman behavior towards female leads in other shows just makes sensible people like us chuckle because the whole set up is unreal. It just irritates but does not affect us.

In this show the have picked a realistic zone (more than most desi TV shows currently on) with endearing lead characters. They actually made Ish treat Sona with respect throughout...

It is ok to be possessive but this hyper reaction in such an offensive way is actually disturbing for this very reason. Ish is immediately happy to see the change that Ranveer has brought about in Neha (a change they could not bring about all her life) but in a similar situation she is pissed off with Sona and upset with Dev (but beta hai so will not yell at him)

The makers of the show cannot have their cake and eat it too. Realistic setting with unrealistic plot. It would have been ok if this was one emotion we got to see in the lifespan of the show but to make it THE backbone of the show seems a bit much..

I know that the creatives have done a great job till date and the hope is that they have a plan given that this is the main plot point of the show. However, what I am seeing off late is that to accommodate their main plot line they are altering the characters they created and we have come to love

Changes in Ish - you already called them out very well, Sona - we should just see episodes 18 to 30 and compare with Sona of today and no falling in love should not alter her completely! Dev - he was anyway expected to change post falling in love. However in the initial episodes he was quite no nonsense and man of the house like, even with Mamiji and at times even Ish. Whereas he is boyishly accommodating at times nowadays. The Dev of the initial episodes would check mami for her rudeness towards Sona and perhaps even firmly sort out his mom's issues. Today's Dev looks ripe to fall in line with the separation track they have planned...

Completely agree with you. Hoping they don't reach that saturation point, where there is no turning back..and I do feel like they are heading towards it. But I would also like it if they surprise all of us... Yes, there was no remorse at all for Ishwari. She was filled with oodles of jealousy & sarcasm.

Is it because of the low TRP's that they are weaving this kind of track? So that they get the attention of the TRP aunties...😕 I hope they don't end up ruining the show by dragging this track for too long.

My fear too...I saw a few posts on low TRP, and was fearful that it would have an impact. Maybe this is it :(

But if that is the case...I think Supriya Pilgaonkar is woefully miscast to play a soap dramatic evil MIL 😆
