The problem with feelings is, that what we show to others is not what we actually feel inside. Sometimes, for an instant, a millisecond, our reaction to any given happening is instantaneous, before our upbringing, manners, religion, and common sense kicks in to make us respond in a better manner.
Consider this:
You are a mother of a handsome, successful and decent young man. He is the apple of your eye, he is your biggest pride. He is good, you are good, all is good.
Suddenly you see him smiling at another girl. And you know this girl. She walks about your house every day, manages everybody's diet and mixes well with your daughters. She's not a stranger.
But he talks to her differently. Confiding, a little childishly, keen for affection, and gets it requited from the girl too. They look cosy and you know nothing about it. Suddenly you're on the outside peeping into the window of your son's life. And you can't share that part he wants to share with the girl he will want to marry. (And you shouldn't😆).

Ishwari is going through that growing pain now. Her instinctual response to bat Sona's hands off of Dev ,
"Who the heck are you to be that close to my son?!"
She couldn't control the feelings fast, so she escaped to her room to brood there. If Sona hadn't come in right then, and tried to boss her about too, it may have been fine. The poor thing walked in at the wrong time, and received such an unpleasant lashing, I felt so bad for her.
Writers should explore this, please. How would Sona feel, falling in love with Dev, and he too, only to discover his mother does not like her as Dev's partner. It hurts !! Bad. We need to see that too. Maybe in a convo with Elena or a bedtime monologue.
Ishwari is going to play politics, because when it comes to Dev she is very childish. Sometimes I dunno, with Dev, I'm not sure if he is my son, or I am his child... She will play subtle territorial games to target Sona, and Dev would be oblivious to it. The purpose is to get Sona to get the message and to remove herself voluntarily.
Sona is the type to back off. But Dev is very stubborn, he said so himself.
With trepidation, I find myself wanting to stand by Sona through this difficult journey. Painful for her it would be.
