Yes this dailogue came as a surprise. Its said na suni hui baton pe vishwas na karo. She heard half thing and cooked her own story and started misbehaving with sonakshi. She should have told dev her insecurity and she can ask him starightly

She is really mean, mother wishes good for their even in the state of anger but she didn't properly bless dev because she thinks he hide his feelings from her. Dev didn't hide it, he just took his own time.
