Very nice post 😊 I missed your post and made a similar small post though about a particular scene yesterday. I have been finding some parts of the romance a bit too sweet and Dev not revealing about the relationship really unreasonable. However, when I think of it, I guess we must give the CVs the benefit of doubt here. One thing about this show is that they are taking it really, really slow - the way they build on small incidents and feelings is actually very good. If we look at it that way, it has been a very short time since Dev has fallen in love - so he is still awestruck with the new feeling in his life and savoring every moment of it. And just like in his career, he wants to make it perfect - in fact, just copybook style 😃 So, he has been putting in so much effort into being an ideal "boyfriend"! Neha's wedding is the first reality check for him as we see he is already feeling that he has been too preoccupied with himself and his relationship with Sona.
Same. I am sorry to say this but its becoming too romantic for me too. I would really like some arguments to spice up the things. I am glad they have a realistic touch to the show but its a drama at the end of the day, so some stuff is really needed to spice up the things. Thats true. I have to give it to CV for handling everything beautifully. They handle even the small moments with so much care!
Another point is Sona is not really the fighting passionately type. If you remember in the promos, the first one they aired showed her telling Dev that if he chooses not to talk about things, she won't either. She expresses herself more freely when she is alone but is pretty mature and grounded in Dev's presence. And that is why, she can understand him and handle him so well - minus the arguments 😊 Dev, on the other hand, is very emotional and at times impulsive too - so gets carried away when it comes to the people he loves. That is why, he approached Ranbeer too on Neha's behalf (which I believe he shouldn't have done and instead should have tried to talk to Neha). So, Dev is now just getting carried away by his feelings for Sona. Later, when he realizes his mother's stand, he will probably back out 🤢- as they had showed in the promos. This is not to say he is fickle - in fact, his strong feelings for the very few people he loves make it so difficult for him to balance. He just needs to get his priorities right and take firm and intelligent decisions when it comes to relationships. He should understand he cannot have it all perfect with one person - he has to 'hurt' his mother a bit initially to get Sona, he has to let Neha live her own life without interfering, he has to find solutions that may not be perfect for everyone but the best for them under the circumstances. The developments we expect in the characters will probably happen when they separate and not as long as they are together 😊 Also, I expect they will happen more in Dev than in Sona who is more sorted on all fronts. The story is also more about Dev and HIS relationship with his mother and girlfriend.
What you said makes sense that their personal growth will happen when they separate but my problem is that they are showing Dev making mistakes, and having faults. I am not able to sallow Sonakshi's perfect girlfriend role. It would be nice to see her make mistakes. She has been this perfect girlfriend which I am not liking. I love her, she is sweet and caring but I wish I could see her make mistakes.
As for Ishwari, her behavior and expectations are completely justified and Dev should have ideally (even practically) shared the truth with her. There was also no reason not to because Ishwari likes Sona very much and has technically given the freedom to Dev to make his own decisions. However, the whole story of this show revolves around the small detailing of the characters' lives and emotions - because honestly the basic idea is not very strong in itself for a soap. Ishwari would surely not be able to hold her own in the face of Dev's unhappiness for a long time. So, they would take it through the subtleties of each day, her getting to know the truth, her feeling betrayed and replaced, Dev's reactions, Sona's response, and so on and so forth.
It would be interesting to see these developments and I trust the writers to do a good job there!
I trust the writers too. I know they will do a good job. But they need to make situations a little more spicier, thats my point of view!
