i think being in the same situation means they are changing to make others happy. They are insecure inside of being looked at as boring. Dev is helpless because he wants to give his sister the happiness he deserves and even when he admires Ranveer as a person, he has to behave unlike himself to achieve his goal. Sona is changing her own expectations of life by lying about a bf even when she cannot do so flawlessly. He can see his reflection in her. She is helpless in front of not wanting to conform and yet being judged by societal stereotypes.

Oh yes, the precaps these days are such a tease, confusing and all of us in the forum come up with so many predictions and bam when the episode airs it's totally different. This show is not predictable at all. And that's why I love it ;)

So my take is that, in today's episode we'll see that Dev might sense that Sona is not too happy being in a relationship with Neel. And she may also play along trying to fake it by crying. And then he says that, they're in the same situation.. !! Both of them are bound into their respective relationships and aren't too happy abt it...

Dev was clearly disturbed when he saw that Sona has started crying.
