So I just finished catching up on last week's episodes and I think the thing that stood out to me most was the maturity of the young women on the show. Some of the attitudes shown are really fresh and healthy, and that makes the show even more wonderful to watch!

Firstly, I really appreciated the way Elina handled Sona's confession. She was so sweet and positive but the best part was her answer to Sona's question, "what if Dev doesn't feel the same way?" Elina so simply stated that this is the first time Sona has ever loved anyone, and it's okay if it doesn't work out. The important thing was for Sona to own, understand, and share her feelings. What a lovely way to think about love, as a beautiful experience in and of itself, whether or not the other person feels the same way. This way, there is no pride attached to love, no humiliation in confessing and possibly being rejected, just a full acceptance and enjoyment of the feeling for what it is and what it can be, leaving no room for future regret.

The other impressive thought process was Neha's. Her trajectory has not ceased to impress me since day one, and she continues to be one of the most complex yet relatable characters on the show. I am so happy to see that they haven't neglected her track even though the main romance has kicked off. Until the last episode, I was totally in support of her and Ranveer's pairing, and I thought his upfront proposal was adorable, so in character, and really something that would impress Neha. But the moment she voiced her concerns about entering his family, I was right there with her!

It makes total sense that Neha does not want to be thrust into a life of family responsibility yet again. With her English classes, she is just finding her own identity and learning to leave her constant bitterness behind. I am sure she dislikes being bitter as much as the people around her suffer for it and rather than allowing herself to drown in that resentment (which she easily could) she is consciously trying to break away from that pattern so she can get her life back on track. She doesn't resent the fact that she had to raise her sisters, as she told Ria, she can't change her past. But what she does want is a chance to shape her present, focusing only on herself. Getting married at this point, and moving to a house like Ranveer's would reverse all the work she has done to emerge from the trauma of her childhood. In his time as her teacher, Ranveer has intuitively understood Neha's fear and insecurity. But will he be patient and wait for her to be ready?

I am really eager to see what Neha's next step will be just as much as I am excited for the adorable, budding romance between our leads. They make for lovely parallel tracks because Dev and Neha are so similar. Try as they might to remain cold and closed off, they have opened their hearts just a little to these mature, straightforward, and compassionate individuals who have seen past their harsh exteriors. But this is just the beginning...😉

Love the accurate analysis.
Agree with what you have written regarding the track.
Except I do feel sometimes Elena gets a little too carried away and might be compelling Sona a little to early to confess without gaging Dev's actual feelings. Glad that Neha is finally getting an identity of her own to rely on, she was always Dev's shadow and she is tired of being that anymore.
Kudos girl! 👏👏👏

Interesting analysis!
Elina is actually one of the few characters in this show that I don't get! Her bubbliness is almost always annoying and sometimes downright cringe worthy. Like when Mrs Dixitv was visiting Sona in the hospital. And elina rushed to hug an injured Sona and whisper 'saasuma' loud enough to be audible. 😳😳 she seems like there complete antithesis of Sona, so I can understand why the CVs want her.

But this need to push Sona into realizing and then admitting her love for Dev is just so very hasty! I mean where's the fire? What's the rush? Speed is not everything. And certainly not when it comes to love. The slow unfurling of the realization has its own beauty. But no Ms express train wants to take over Sonas relationship. And this push to admit her love to Dev- what got can come of a premature confession. Is it not better to test the water before diving in? I almost always my rxn to Elina is to ask her to 'take a chill pill'.

Agree with your analysis of her reasoning for Sona to confess her feelings to Dev. But the timing's so off that was already know it's a disaster in the making.

Yesss!! By interfering in their relationship, she is making it tougher for Sona to think straight and realize that Dev has not felt anything towards her and it will result in a heartbreak if she tries to rush into a relationship when he is not ready for anything. She is young and so blinded by the notion of true love that she fails to realize that it not sensible to advise about things that she does not know personally. The one time I truly loved her was when she told that annoying cousin of Dev: Vicky off. That made me happy to see her there.

Hello Sam,
Loved your post. I think we have interacted on another forum before so was trying to rack my brains because I found your username familiar... Was it Tumhari Paakhi? Anyway, couldn't agree more with what you wrote here. I have been reading multiple topics on how Sona shouldn't confess, how she has gone all soft, how is she acting out of character etc. so it was nice to read a different point-of-view for a change haha!

I love this entire take on Sona falling in love and wanting to confess. In most stories, when a character falls in love, it is followed by the primary concern of whether the object of their affections feels the same way or not. In that regard, the liberation with which Sona simply wants to tell Dev she loves him, the way she is reveling in the feeling of love these days is very beautiful and also how love should be. It should not be proud or fearful of rejection, instead it should be celebrated and expressed and that is exactly what the makers have tried here. Too often we mistake ego for pride and self-respect. Why should a girl who has fallen in love for the first time hold back from expressing what she feels for the fear of appearing desperate? Especially in this case, when Dev has been nothing but sweet, kind, attentive and extremely caring towards her lately? Yes they got off on the wrong foot and he was an absolute jerk for getting her fired and further meddling in her life when he really should have let her handle the marriage proposal but then we have seen these characters grow past those grudges and whatever resentment Sona had towards Dev. We have seen them understand each other, respect each other and care for each other. We have also seen them accepting and realizing the mistakes they make around the other person and repenting over the same. They have come a long way from the day they ran smack into each other in the middle of the road. She brings out a side of him that no one has ever quite experienced and there is a wonderful kind of understanding, comfort and connect they have grown to share.

My primary worry is the track ahead though. I can't quite digest Dev agreeing to marry over a partnership. Yes he is a businessman but he is not without compassion and most importantly he is a self-made man. The idea that such a man would marry for a business deal is slightly disconcerting. Dev does value relationships and for him to think of marriage as a trivial detail in his mechanical life doesn't make much sense. Maybe he will genuinely like the new girl, I don't know. The track is clearly only being introduced to drag him out of the comfort zone he associates with Sonakshi and really reflect over her place in his life and why he cares so much about her and most importantly what he, Dev Dixit, wants from life apart from pushing his business ahead and taking care of his family. I just hope they don't ruin his character over a realization of love.

Loved what you said about Neha too. She has been a complex yet real character from day 1. I too agreed with what she said about Ranveer. Love is great but the place she has come from and her current struggle to carve an identity of her own, to find herself beyond the resentments and grudges she has will still overpower any feelings she might have for Ranveer. Her apprehension is very real.

Waiting to see how the story develops! And sorry for the ramble haha, been a while since I wrote here so got a bit carried away.

Maham.

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it 😃

I see where you are coming from about Elena but I see it a bit differently. Elena is encouraging her to confess her feelings without expecting anything from Dev, that is, to confess for herself and let whatever happens happen. I would be against it if she were pushing against Sona's will but Sona is not someone who can be persuaded to do what she doesn't want to. That way, I see Elena as helping rather than pushing her.

As I said in my previous response, I don't think Elena succeeded in pushing Sona to confess her feelings. She tried but until Sona herself came to the realization, she couldn't make her confess. And I really do believe that Sona came to the realization in her own time. She has had a soft spot for Dev for quite a long time and didn't confess to it, despite the constant teasing from Saurabh and Elena. Sona is a girl who really knows her mind and I don't think she is doing this just because of Elena's pushing; she also wants to confess her feelings. Now that she has accepted it, Elena is just there to help her with the technicalities.

I also think it's important to remember that we as viewers know that Dev hasn't realized his feelings. For Sona however, it is not so clear. The way he behaved, especially the day of her accident and the fact that he came to see her every day are very positive signs for her. She has good reason to think he might feel the same way about her... and there is no way to clarify until she confesses. So instead of trying to read signs, being a straightforward and confident girl, I don't see why she shouldn't go for it and clarify their status!

Great post😊. Your analysis of Dev and Neha's character is bang on. I always thought they had more in common than others. They both have suffered a lot and deserve a chance at happiness. I hope they find it in Sonakshi and Ranveer resp. Cheers!

Nice analysis
Yes Neha love story is as interesting as Devaskhi love story
Neha is complex character but matured one.
She understands every one very well including dev and Ishwari .
Am sure Neha is fallen in love with English teacher . Because the way she desperate to contact him when he was away for few days. Plus she showed jealous wale expression when she saw Sona and English teacher were talking to each other.

Hey! Yeah, it was TP. I think we interacted quite a bit there in the early days of the show. As you can probably tell, I'm a sucker for these slow-burn love stories. 😛

Thanks! I was reading that as well and I didn't see my POV around the forum at all so I thought I would come out of silent stalking mode and write something.

This is so spot on, especially the way you question the conflation of pride and self-respect and exactly how I have been feeling about this whole phase in the story. It's funny to me that so many viewers see this behavior as out of character for Sona when I actually see it as being very in character. It speaks to the way in which Sona grew up; her family was chaotic and quirky and all that but like she said, whatever transpired was there on the table for everyone to see. She's not someone who has been brought up to conceal, or feel sheepish, about what she feels, and I like that she has the same attitude towards her feelings for Dev. This is to me is such a beautiful take on the way love should be, and reflects the open communication that comes easily in Sona's family.

Also, I love how her transparence speaks to her self-confidence. Even though she is aware of the fact that Dev might not reciprocate her feelings, it doesn't seem at all far-fetched to her that he could. She knows how valuable a person she is, and how much she means to Dev, even if she's not sure he cares for her romantically. I feel like she's confident enough in their relationship to at least know that he won't be unkind to her even if he doesn't reciprocate her feelings. I like seeing that kind of self-esteem in a female lead. And what I loved about Elena's advice was that it seemed to reinforce the idea that sure, maybe Dev doesn't feel the same way, but his potential rejection has no bearing on Sona's identity, while the difference between her getting up the guts to confess or not, does. It's really the difference between defining your self-respect according to others vs. in your own eyes, if that makes any sense.

My primary worry is the track ahead though. I can't quite digest Dev agreeing to marry over a partnership. Yes he is a businessman but he is not without compassion and most importantly he is a self-made man. The idea that such a man would marry for a business deal is slightly disconcerting. I just hope they don't ruin his character over a realization of love.

God, I hope so too! Half the reason I haven't been posting as much despite my love for this show is that I get too attached when I start discussing a show, only for it to tank. I guess trying not to post was my form of self-defense... so much for that, huh? 😆

The spoiler about Dev marrying for business sounded a bit sketchy to me too. But I am confident that there is more to it than just a simple transaction for one glaring reason... Ishwari. There is no way Dev would make such a huge decision without her consent; that is after all the premise of the show! I am waiting to see what her angle in all of this is. We have seen her feelings for Sona pretty clearly... she dotes on and admires her as an individual but cringes at the idea of anyone else in Dev's life. It will be interesting to see what her reaction to this new girl is. Is she somehow less threatened by her?

Loved what you said about Neha too. She has been a complex yet real character from day 1. I too agreed with what she said about Ranveer. Love is great but the place she has come from and her current struggle to carve an identity of her own, to find herself beyond the resentments and grudges she has will still overpower any feelings she might have for Ranveer. Haha, I know what you mean, as you can clearly see by my responses! 😆
