Hi there, welcome to the forum! Good post - Ishwari's character is a very dark shade of grey.
There are a few other posts regarding her on this forum - but I'll answer the question you raised.

It has not been explicitly discussed WHY Ishwari is against Dev's marriage - she keeps saying "he's too young" or "he's not his time yet" or some lame excuse to that effect.

Many members have different takes on it - but it basically it comes down to insecurity and selfishness.
Ishwari has endured many hardships - she's lived through some dire financial circumstances - no one is denying that. These circumstances have led her to make some shrewd decisions for the sake of self preservation - in very simplistic terms she invested everything she could in Dev and Dev's upbringing at the cost of Neha's life - primarily because she sees Dev as her safety net and security blanket. Dev is a boy and Neha is a girl - with her small town thinking - she figured a boy is going to give her a better return on investment where as a girl is seen as a bad investment - girls must be married off and once married are busy playing house and raising babies.

The interesting thing is Ishwari isn't evil in the traditional sense - she's not going to put poison in ur food, she won't beat you or lock u up - but she will turn her back on you the moment you do anything to threaten her safety net. Anything that takes Dev's time, focus or attention away from his priority - his mother and her wishes - she will eliminate. You've probably seen this - she's relatively civil with Sona and even went to go see her at the hospital but hearing Dev taking a birthday cake for Sona's mom made her unhappy. With the way she's raised Dev - he has not been granted any time to think about himself - who he is, what his hopes and desires are.

It's pretty sad actually - that a mother is so engrossed in her own selfish means that she snatches away the basic right to free thinking - for her son. He is not allowed to have a life outside of her - how pathetic. Its all her insecurity - a logical person would think that she has raised her son well and given him a sound sense of right and wrong to where he can take decisions for himself.

What's even sadder is that mother's like that actually exist in real life. They molly coddle their sons to the point where they are all momma's boys, can't think for themselves and when anyone else tries to reason with them - they are brainwashed to the point where they can't see/imagine/believe their mother can do any wrong. Mothers leverage that in every way possible. Disgusting.

Ya Dev is a nice guy at his core but he's severely damaged - emotionally. Sona is a well balanced, emotionally stable and strong person - i wish she'd stay away from Dev - she'll complicate her life unneccessarily, its not worth it till Dev can get out of his mother's clutches.

Although ishwari had a bad past and she is scared but this cannot justify her selfish behaviour. She wants dev to be a robot who should only concentrate on his work. She should have been happy to see his son enjoying with nikki but no she gave a big lecture to sona. And now she does not want him to give any attention to sona with whom he feels happy.

With this hurry burry of fixing Dev's wedding I feel Ishwari had given word (promise) to someone regarding Dev's marriage ... May be someone who paid his fees or something I don';t know.. it is a feeler..
Otherwise how can she spot a girl so quickly..

It has not been explicitly discussed WHY Ishwari is against Dev's marriage - she keeps saying "he's too young" or "he's not his time yet" or some lame excuse to that effect. Hmm.. like an overprotective and possessive mother.

Many members have different takes on it - but it basically it comes down to insecurity and selfishness. Yes.
Ishwari has endured many hardships - she's lived through some dire financial circumstances - no one is denying that. How well written.. every point is apt. In love with ur writing..

With the way she's raised Dev - he has not been granted any time to think about himself - who he is, what his hopes and desires are. Yup.. she never let Dev understand himself.. his wants, his desires and his needs. What he always did in his life was for his mother and family.

Right.. she's those typical Mom's who control their sons but Ishwari is not devilish.. for now LOL. Don't know, how she'll act with our Sona.

It's true. But until someone interferes into Dev's daily mom & me cycle.. how will he free himself from the invisible cage which his mother has sewn for him? Sona is needed here.
Thank u for replying.

I understand. She just wishes that her son cum robo always follows her command. Hope she doesn't turn into an evil for Sona!
