Ananyaa...Your words truly means a lot to me and acted as an energy booster. I myself was aware that the length was tooo small, but somewhere deep down I felt that pple might not like it and I strongly did not want to bore you pple with a lengthy one, now that all you people have liked it, my confidence level has risen to some extent...So here we go with the next part...
The doctor came out after the necessary procedures and said that since its a head injury nothing can be said until 48 hours. Everyone standing there were in shock after knowing this. Dev could not believe his ears and caught hold of the doctor and said...what do you mean by nothing can be said, we brought her here so that you can treat her to the T of the perfect and here you say nothing can be said and why 48 hours. Do all that is required, call the famous and costliest doctors from anywhere in the world ASAP, I will pay as much as you want, but i want Sona back lively and chirpy. Everyone tried to calm down Dev, except Ishwari, who was hell shocked at this behavior of her son. Her son who was always devoid of any emotions is now fighting with a doctor for a girl whom he knew just a few weeks to months ago. Dr. Sinha said that it is a serious head injury and the patient is unconscious now, once she gains her consciousness we can only then proceed with the further treatment, until then please pray for her to open her eyes, and saying so the doctor left.
Dr. Bose's father went to Dev and said you seem too stressed out, you have done so much for my daughter and I cant thank you enough for whatever you have done, you need to rest, please go and rest for sometime. We will take care of our daughter. We will inform you about any changes good or bad that take place. He immediately with tears in his eyes says I am not going anywhere. I am not moving from here until Sona opens her eyes and talk to me. He goes to his mom, rubs his eyes and says maa you all go home and rest. I am staying here until she gains her consciousness. Ishwari refuses and says that you need rest. Come home, freshen up, change your clothes, and sleep for sometime and then come back if you need. Dev does not listen to it and without bothering or caring where he was standing screams in his top pitch that he is not going anywhere until she open her eyes, he repeats the same sentence and kneels down in front of the crowd with folded hands and tears flowing continuously. This was the first time, Ishwari and her daughters have seen Dev breaking down in their whole life. Whenever their family had to face any trouble, just like their mother, Dev also stood determined and strong like a mountain never letting any emotions break him down, but today it was a completely strange sight for them and not wanting to force him much, everyone from the Dixit family left to their home.
Once Dev realized that his family has left, and he is now sharing the space with the Bose family whose daughter is fighting for her life inside, he slowly went to where her mother sat and was silently weeping and praying, sat beside her and said aunty jee, you please dont worry, I will not let anything happen to your Sona. She is a fighter and will fight this back and will wake up soon and will come running and scold us asking us to take care of health and will give a long list of a diet chart for all of us to follow. Mrs. Bose had a small smile on her face hearing this and runs her hand on his head as a form of blessing. Dev could not sit peacefully at one place and he was walking to and fro worried about his mother's nutritionist who by now has turned from Dr. Bose to Ms. Bose and somewhere deep in his heart...his Sona, but he did not question or think about those change of feelings at this crucial stage. His eyes fell on the idol of God that was placed in a corner of that bay in the hospital. For the first time in his life, Dev went to that place where the idol was placed and fell on his knees and joined his hands and begged for the life of the girl who made him smile as well as cry, begged for the life of the girl who made him realize that he is a human being with emotions and not a robot or a mountain. It was the first time he was praying and has never done this even when his mother has forced him, but today he felt only HE could help his Sona.
Dev saw Dr. Sinha going to the ICU room, and asked him about the progress, Dr. Sinha said that he is just going to check her and will let him know. Dev requests very humbly like a child can he see her for once. Dr. Sinha actually wanted to say no, but knowing how Dev was earlier and how Dev is today after the accident, he allowed Dev to follow him inside. The Bose family who was sitting there had no complain on this decision by Dr. Sinha, as they have seen the vulnerable side of The Dev Dixit today. Once Dev entered the ICU, he was shocked at the sight of the tubes and pipes passing from Dr. Bose's body attached to various machines and the big bandage on her head. Dev's leg mechanically moved towards the bed and stood in front of her like a statue. After checking all the necessary vitals and other things Dr. Sinha told Dev that how far Dr. Bose is responding to the treatment is a difficult thing to be said now. She still needs time to respond back and asked Dev politely to exit the room, but Dev resisted and requested to allow him to stay there and also assured that he would not cause any kind of hindrance or disturbance to her treatment or to her. Dr. Sinha reluctantly agreed to Dev. Once Dr. Sinha came out, he said that it is not the right time to tell about the progress. He also said that there is no use in all you people staying here. The nurses and the doctors are here to take care, but as you all insist, only one from your family can stay overnight. Sona's elder brother determindely says everyone to leave home and allow him to stay in the hospital. Everyone sees Sona from the small window of the ICU and leaves home leaving her brother outside and Mr. Dixit inside her room along with her.
Dev sits on a stool near her bed and with tears in his eyes looks at the sleeping form of Dr. Bose and very tenderly and carefully keeps his hand on her hand and slightly rubs the hand where the IV is connected as if soothing the pain that she is going through. Doing this he looks at her face and recollects all the moments that they have come across from day one when they accidentally hit each other at the shopping place until the accident that happened today in the evening. He hold her hand in his and says Sona please get up, I am unable to breath properly when you are lying lifeless here. I want you to get up and fight with me. I want you to argue with me whenever I am wrong and make me aware of what I am and what I have to do. He cries bitterly and a drop of tear falls on her hand. It was at that moment that Dev realizes that one of her fingers have moved for a millisecond. He speaks to her again and again, moves his hand on her head, on her hand and finally she moves her hand, and slowly opens her eyes. Dev's happiness reaches no bounds and he immediately holds her face with both his hands and runs his hand on her face to confirm that all this is true. He says her to stay like this only until he calls the doctor and asks her, orders her, requests her not to close her eyes until he comes back. Saying so, he rushes hurriedly to Dr. Sinha and tells him the happening. Dr. Sinha along with other team of his doctor rushes inside worrying Sona's brother. Dev is asked to stop outside only. Dev tells to her brother that Sona opened his eyes and he is so happy that he hugs his brother and says that our Sona opened her eyes Daada, my Sona opened her eyes. Sona's brother is happy on hearing this and also is happy that Dev too has feelings for his sister just like she has but the sad part is that both of them are unaware of it yet.
After sometime, the doctor comes out and tells that whatever happened now sometime back is nothing less than a miracle and says that now Dr. Bose is out of danger and she will be shifted to the room tomorrow in the morning, and also states that since it is a head injury she still needs observation and care from the hospital team and hence need to be in the hospital for a week. the doctor leaves asking them to meet the patient and instructing them not to stress the patient for a longer time. Both Dev and her brother go inside. Her brother rushes to her and hugs her and tears run down from the siblings eyes showing their care and concern for each other. Dr. Bose's brother sees that Dev is standing at the foot of the bed not disturbing their sibling moment. He then leaves out with an excuse of informing this news to other family members. After he leaves, Dev comes and sits on the stool and says Dr. Bose you scared me to death. Sona passes a small smile and she says with great difficulty and in a low tone that the moment she is fit and fine the first thing that she will be doing is severely punishing him for eating chips and ghee when she had strictly said a no to it. A small smile crosses Dev's lips, but is sad that the chirpy Sona who used to speak long sentences in a breath is speaking so stressfully and silences her with his fingers on her lips and says, Dr. Bose you need to rest, so no speaking and please sleep. Dr. Bose scrunches her face and says, "Dev," when did I turn to Dr. Bose... I was Sona all this time, now why Dr. Bose. Dev's face ligthened the moment she addressed him Dev, he turned crimson red at this question and was blabbering in search of words and not making an eye contact. She slowly and very delicately held his hands that were on top of her hands and asked him to call her Sona once as she liked hearing her name being called so by him. Dev smiled very cutely and slightly at these words and with one hand held her hand soothing the IV site and with the other he soothed her head where a big bandage was there and said ""Sona, please rest now and we will do the talking later." She agreed to his words on one condition that he would not move from here come what may. Dev immediately agreed and gave a reassuring smile. All this was observed by her brother from outside and had a smile that conveyed that everything will be fine now. Dev who was watching Sona going into sleep thought of her final words before the accident that she will not die without ending her love story and said that now is the beginning of their love story and slowly realizes all the feelings that he had for his Sona. He slowly gets up from the stool. Sona who sensed a change in his position immediately opened her eyes and looked at him. Dev went more close to her and said...Sona, this is the beginning of your love story and I will make sure that it always blooms more and more with each passing day...and kisses her forehead and asks can you please join me in making your love story a successful one. Sona could not believe her ears and with tears rolling through her eyes nods her head very slowly confirming him that she is with him throughout this journey of her love story. Dev kisses her head once again and asks her to sleep now. Dev sat on the stool holding her hand and thinking of their life together...
