Yesterday, we published a story about Rakshak Sawhney being sacked from Kkavyanjali "because he was unwell."
While the actor refused to comment on Wednesday, he finally broke his silence to us.
He seemed more relaxed at having washed his hands off the show.
"Yes, I am out of the serial," he admitted. "Wednesday was the last day of my shoot. The first thing I am looking forward to is some much-needed rest and sleep," he said.
Sawhney, who has been replaced by Eijaz Khan (Sohan of Kkusum, Abhinav of Kesar), revealed that he was told to opt out as he asked for a break for a few days. "I had been shooting non-stop for the serial since January.
We had been clocking 18 hours and more every single day. Sometimes, we were shooting at a stretch for days and nights.
Obviously, it has taken a toll on my health. We would shoot thorough out the night and then again in the day. My health was becoming a cause of concern. I was physically exhausted."
Apparently, Sawhney's health skin and hair were a mess, forcing him to consult a specialist. A source from the unit said that once Rakshak shot non-stop for 80 hours, and he was on the verge of collapsing.
As per medical advise, Sawhney asked for a breather from shooting to rest.
"But I was told as it is a daily, I just could not take an off. In the absence of any banked episodes, it was impossible. Moreover, we would be shooting today for what was going to be telecast tomorrow."
He claimed that when he asked for a break, he was asked to opt out of Kkavyanjali and be part of the other Balaji daily show, Kasuatii Zindagi Kay. "I took up this offer as I would be part of an extremely popular show," he reasons. "Kasuatii has a huge fan following. At least I would get noticed."
Sawhney is slated to play the character of Prem, son of Anurag (Cezanne Khan) and Prerna (Shweta Tiwari) in Kasuati. He will appear in the Malaysia shoot schedule, which begins next week.
"Prem makes an appearance in Kuala Lumpur. In fact, his entry will be shown on a bike," said Rakshak.
Sawhney also rued the fact that though he played the lead role and despite all the media blitzkrieg about Kkavyanjali, no one even recognised him. He also felt that as Kkavya he was playing a very intense role.
Prem will portray him as a fun-loving character. "People now ask me if I have made the right decision. I think I have. What's the point of playing a lead role when no one even notices you?" he questioned.
Kkavyanjali, which was launched on January 25, also has actress Amrita Singh make a comeback on the acting front. It was touted by Star Plus as the next big thing after Kaun Banega Crorepati.
Backed with massive media advertising, the show launched with great fanfare. It has yet to become a talking point among viewers.
When asked about the shoot schedules, creative director Nivedita Basu admitted "that the working patterns have been long. We have put everything in this show.
The cast has been very co-operative. As it is a daily, to give a break to the main character is impossible. Even the lead actress Natassha, despite having lost her grandfather, had to resume shooting immediately."
Sawhney, however, has now put Kkavya behind him as he looks forward to playing Prem in Kasauti and hopefully, getting some recognition.
