Hi,

Two sides of the coin.

Yesterday's anger-filled episode was therapeutic for my pent-up frustration. Arjun's desperate attempt to wrestle the truth out of Arohi and the resultant shouting-match had me completely engrossed from the outset. The anger was justified. The desperation palpable. My first thought was that these couldn't be the same people we saw in Shimla, or the ones in the previous love track. Surely the creatives had fabricated this scene exclusively to propogate the storyline. But on second thought, maybe that's just the easy answer.

Arjun.

In balance, in control, Arjun is a principled, level-headed loving man. The man who favours discipline, following rules, creation. And love. Out of balance, he is an angry-young man. He lashes out. Leaps before he looks. Explosive. [Surprising? I think not.]


Arohi.

In balance, Arohi is lively, vivacious, hopeful. She is life personified. Out of balance, she loses her spark. She is the walking epitome of death. Quiet. Reserved. Implosive.

Balance.

It's clear that they are the balance in each other's life. Their love. Their personalities. Their shared experiences. And their mutual respect. They are each other's duniya. No explanation required.

As a Couple. Yesterday.

They are completely balanced. Arjun can withstand any degree of anger and humiliation with Arohi protected and by his side. Whether it be from HP, the Buas, sisters, anyone. He can even give Karan Singh the benefit of the doubt, a second chance, with he and Arohi together. Arjun is playful. He respects Arohi's family and values. He keeps Arohi in check with her own values. He opens up. When they are together.

Arohi is happy. She opens up. She has the strength to stand for her love and her life. She has dreams, and the strength to follow them - when she is with Arjun.

The Flipside. Today.

The balance is lost. They are apart. Arohi is helpless. Arjun is lost without explanation, on top of which he senses Arohi's helplessness. Arjun's life has spiralled out of control overnight, without apparent cause, spearheaded by Arohi - the only person in the world he trusts completely. [Both parents have let him down at some point or the other.]

And here you have the man you see before you. Talking has not helped. She will not talk. She will not listen. And yet she is dead. Of all people, Arjun is the most keenly aware of this. What's left? Anger. Pure, sheer anger. He will shake the truth out of her. If that's what it takes. Hitting Arohi? Killing her? Empty threats. All he needs is the truth.

The truth about why she is walking into darkness. He does not demand a life with her, although it is his desire, just her happiness. And her happiness is with him - unless she can sufficiently prove otherwise. For him it's about Arohi. Not Arjun.

Arohi, while harder to read, has closed off to life. She too is completely out of balance. And talks of Arjun killing her? Wishful thinking. That would truly be easier to manage than coming to terms with this moment. The moment where she has signed her life away. Fear for her father and sisters? I suspect there is more to this fear than we understand at this time. As for her dream - there are many ways for Arjun to kill her that do not involve death. And this we shall witness in the near future.

So these are my passing thoughts. Needless to say, I was enraptured by the episode and am loving the show in general these days. I hit my head after each episode ... which is a good sign in my case! ;)
