1. Steve Martin is one of my all time favorite comedians and actors. Mehr, please give him a some cheerful sunflowers for me.😃
2. Life has taught me that there sometimes comes a point in a parent -child relationshp where the parent becomes the child and the child the parent... 😆😆😆
Reference:
Father of the Bride is a 1991 comedy film starring Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Kimberly Williams, and George Newbern. It is a remake of the 1950s movie of the same name. In the movie, George Banks (Steve Martin) is an upper-middle-class owner of an athletic shoe company in California, whose 22-year-old daughter Annie has decided to marry a man from an upper-class family from Bel-Air, California, despite knowing each other only three months. George can't think of what life would be like without his daughter and becomes slightly insane (especially when he finds out the wedding will cost over $100,000), although his wife tries to make him happy for Annie. Initially, he sabatoges Annie's relationship with her fiance, but later realizes that he is the "right" guy for Annie after all. So, during the course of the movie George come to terms with the fact that his daughter has grown up and has a life of her own.
Father of the Bride
HP's faith in his daughter Arohi was shaken by what he saw - what did he see? He saw Arohi, his pride and joy, romancing behind his back with a boy he does not approve of. How can he trust her judgment after that? So, he questions her judgment - her taste. Its understandable. But, she is not six years old child whom he can show the error of her ways. She is a grown woman with a heart and mind of her own. He needs to respect that. He needs to reason with her and for that he must listen not make condescending judgments. Alas, he is like Steve Martin's character in Father of the Bride - a sanki fool who thinks he knows what's best. But, he is wrong and Arohi and Arjun have to make him see that. When parents are wrong then children should speak up. Both Arohi and Arjun tried to do that and they both spoke from the heart, but with respect. That is the sanskar their respective parents instilled in them. What did they get in return? A overgrown buffon unwilling to listen or respect. (Sorry - dakkudaddy lost my respect the minute he snapped his fingers at Punji.)
Pyar Kiya toh Darna Kya?
Does that mean that they should give up? No. Arjun and Arohi need to wipe their tears and fight this Dakkudaddy. Fight for their love against him and this Zaalim Duniya. Show HP the errow of his ways. How can they do that? They have several means - they can seek help from Badimaa, DK, Salil, Poo, Bua or (brace yourself) Karan Singh. Or they can keep fighting on their own (engage in some Gandhigiri) - what am i talking about? Hunger strike, jaandas, and silent protest. We know that they love each, but can they prove it? Hmmm...I can't wait to see this.😍😍😍
Post -Script:
1. I looooveeeed every scene today
2. Bua thinks HP is "nalayak"- I agree 200% Dude is a HYPOCRITE. Why? (1) He wonders if Arohi's big dream is "Arjun" - excuse me- but, wasn't he the one trying to marry of his daughter without asking to Karan Singh? (2)
3. Arohi has not given up...
