Wonderful post! HP acted like a father, but tomorrow's the time for irrationality to take a back seat and rationality to kick in, if in fact HP is the understanding father he's been portrayed to be. And very true about parents. My parents, as well, have never forced a decision onto me. They always adivse, but have never forced me into/out of anything.

@Aditi Those last few lines beautiful! Exactly...HP needs to allow Arohi to speak and if he doesn't give her the opportunity then Arohi needs to fight for it. That fighting is not disrespecting, it would be ensuring that her father makes no mistakes in judging character.

@Aditi: Commitment is almost "I do" for the couple, marriage, according to me, is to celebrate that "I do" and seek the blessings of your parents, family and friends.

It'll take time for him to cool down, what he witnessed will take time to digest. But, if he does not listen to his daughter's story and what she has to say, then HP becomes another obstinate parent who wants to rule the life of his daughter. If he is the understanding kind, he will have a talk with her when he has calmed down.

He he An ..you me getting into a discussion ...ok ...let's see ...AA have blessings of the Arjun's Parents ...friends ...hmm...I am sure Salil will be all for it ..Purvi will come round to it when she knows the truth... Only person with a real issue ..HP .....(?????)

and I look at it slightly differently ...Marriage is essentially between two individuals...One wants that bond to be sanctioned socially because it makes life beautiful....but there have been instances in history where people have left thrones because there was no sanction for there marriage socially ...(if i remember correctly it was Prince Edward)..so for me social sanction is secondary to the actual commitment beween the two ...

and a bond not looked favorably in one social circle may be accepted in another ...
