Chapter 28

Arohi stood in the elegantly decorated ladies room, gazing at her shocked reflection in the mirror. Her face was flushed, her lips reddened, her hair a tousled mess. She must admit she never expected Arjun to kiss her back with that kind of intensity. The sensation of that moment was stupendous…they have kissed before but it was more of a dialogue between two lovers through unspoken words. It was a moment to be cherished but never to be re-created……

The door of the powder room opened and Gauri slipped in.

"Hi Arohi….nice to see you…." Gauri said in her sugar sweet voice.

"Really…..I am surprised….can't say that I feel the same for you" Arohi tried to end the conversation. She left the room, her temper rising.

"Arohi…can we just talk for a moment" Gauri said following her.

"Ok fine..tell me quickly what you have to say" Arohi pushed the door in to an empty music room. She was expecting an encounter with Gauri but not tonight.

" Believe me Arohi...You have reasons to hate me but I sincerely feel sorry for you….when Natasha told me that you were falling into Arjun's trap again I had to come to Greece just to see you….I have tried to make contact with you at the villa but with the tight security I just couldn't get through……Mikhael told you you were coming to the ball so I came just to talk to you"

"What trap are you talking about…I don't get you?"

" Don't believe anything that selfish jerk says!!! I am sure he is forcing you into this marriage….but trust me he can never be faithful to you ….I have given him so many years of my life, have loved him with all my heart and soul but when he saw you he just threw me out of his life….. …..he will exactly do the same with you….he will tie you to him to satisfy his unsatiable sexual hunger…….and then move on to his next prey….you will be left as the crying wife at home…..don't marry him Arohi….he is only after your child's custody….he is a bast…

Before she could finish the sentence Arohi's hand touched across her cheek in the form of a tight slap…the sound echoed through the walls of the big room.

"Don't you dare utter a single word against my Arjun….I am no more the gullible little girl that you and Natasha managed to trick with bunch of your lies…don't even use the word "love" to express your pathetic obsession for him……what love are you talking about Gauri…..the love that made you defame him with a crime that he has never done or the love that forced you to break up the most beautiful moment of his life….despite of knowing that he was engaged and we were getting married in few days you shattered him with the most outrageous lie….you snatched away from him the most wonderful time that he was looking forward to…and you call this love….Arjun is the love of my life, he is the father of my child and if anything or anybody try to come between our love I will crush that thing with all my might and don't you even think of underestimating the power of my love for him…. …if you will excuse me Arjun is waiting for me….. "

"You are making a mistake Arohi…..he is not worthy of your love"

" No Gauri…I am rectifying the mistake I have made three years back by not trusting him completely…….I have no grudge against you or Natasha as it was my own insecurity that had blinded me but now his love has opened my eyes…and in a way I am grateful to you for doing that to me…because it has made my love stronger and deeper….now I know the true meaning of love….the love that most probably I never had for him that time….I don't need anybody to tell me how he feels for me I can see it in the depth of his eyes, feel it in every cell of his body…..even God comes and tells me otherwise I will not believe it…." She stopped for a while and moving forward she looked into Gauri 's eyes and continued "Go get a life Gauri….even you know that Arjun has never loved you….I am sure there is definitely someone waiting for you somewhere out there…let go of all the grudges and start a new journey….I have no ill feelings against you ..I know it is hard not to fall in love with a man like Arjun…but believe me you deserve much better than being in love with someone who doesn't even think about you ….he was never yours for you to hold back to…he was always mine"

"Do you even know how it feels like to love someone and not get anything back in return…." Gauri said, her voice chocking.

" I know how you feel…..I have been through that pain for the last three years of my life…but the only difference that my love was real…It was always there ..it was my foolishness and insecurity which had pushed it away but in your case it was never there Gauri….If you had really loved him you could have never snatched away his happiness…..I left him because I thought he loved you ….I wanted him to be happy….I have deprived my son from all his father's love so that your child can have everything Gauri….I have cried for years but never ever thought ill about your child….I didn't even believe Arjun when he said that you were lying…because to me a mother could never agree to take her child's life…..just ask yourself once truly and sincerely you will get the answer…all this years you have plotted against him but have you ever thought that in the whole process you have suffered the most….you have lost a good friend like Arjun….love is not only about receiving…..the true essence of love resides in giving Gauri…

As the truth of each and every word of Arohi sank in Gauri stood like a zombie with a hollow look in her eys. She had never wanted to frame Arjun but seeing him happy with Arohi she had lost her self. Arohi was right. He had never loved her; never made any false promise. They were just friends making a farce of being lovers to the whole world. It was Natasha who had provoked her to stoop to this extent. She was the one who had convinced her to use the night in New York and disgrace Arjun. That evening they have both seen Arohi by the pool side and had started their drama so that they could sow the seed of doubt in Arohi's mind. But to their delight Arohi acted more quickly than they had expected and she was out of Arjun's life within hours. Later on with Natasha's help she had forged Arjun's signature and Mikhael had helped them to bring the whole story to the press. Natasha was the brain behind everything but she was the one who had gone ahead and done it and made a complete fool of herself in the whole process. A;though she could never forget Arjun but was happy in her life till recently Natasha called her and instigated her to come to Greece and claim what was rightfully hers. But the truth that she had overlooked all this years was that Arjun was never hers. Tears of repentance, tears of shame engulfed her whole being. Arohi was right in all this she had lost a friend in the form of Arjun……and have nobody to hold on to. True love has won and she with all her hatred and animosity was left with nothing.

"We can never be friends Gauri but I will definitely pray for your happiness"

As Arohi was about to leave Gauri's "Do you think Arjun will ever forgive me" halted her steps. Poor thing! She must have loved Arjun a lot once. Despite of everything she had done to her a sense of pity developed in her.

" I will make sure that he does…."

"Really…why would you do that for me…" Gauri asked bewildered.

"Because I am Arohi and not Gauri…It is very easy to ruin others happiness but I have learnt from life that there is nothing like forgiving…..You have snatched away three years of my life …your one lie has given me three long years of pain, despair and agony but what's the point in bearing malice for by gone days…I have found solace in my beloved's arms…. I am happy with my life and I wish the same for you….just always remember one thing no one can be happy by making others sad…Go away from our lives forever and concentrate on being a good human being….I am sure you are capable for this much…." Arohi left with a triumphant smile in her lips, head held high and morals intact. Hatred bears more hatred…

Arjun had been desperately looking for Arohi after the kiss. He needed to explain to her that it meant nothing. It was just a passing moment like her passing emotions. Liar! A little voice reminded him. Okay fine it meant everything to him but it wasn't the right thing to do. He should have controled himself before divulging into such a passionate kiss with Arohi, and that's too in front of a whole crowd. But where was she??. It was at this point he saw Gauri following Arohi out of the rest room. A panic rose like a bile through him as he retraced his step back to them. The conversation that occurred in the room left him dumbstruck. He just couldn't believe the emotional rollercoaster ride that his eyes saw or his ears heard. Arohi had actually made Gauri repent for all her actions. If he hadn't seen the scene himself he would have never believed that his Arohi has become so matured in her love for him. He has never seen her this determined…...this much in control. First the slap and then her high pitched speech…it seemed as if he was watching a television soap and not a real life conversation. Her "trust me Arjun she won't be able to do any damage this time" kept on echoing in his ears. So she had pushed him away because she wanted him to be happy with Gauri. Was he imagining things or was it really that Arohi had blossomed so much that she could confront a cunning woman like Gauri and come out with flying colours. The look on Gauri's face was worth a million dollar. He felt like lifting her of the floor and give her a big hug for taking his revenge from Gauri in the most sophisticated manner. That was his Arohi…his special girl who was so different from others. "Common Go Arjun…..get her back in your life…" a little birdie urged him but there was still a bit of uncertainity…a bit of insecurity that forced him to divert his attention back to the ball room. What if she just say that to outwit Gauri and not meant it actually….his heart was aching to believe every word she said about the strength of love but his head was refuting all his emotional logic….he came back with his emotions all jumbled over….but whatever it was it made him happy….

As Arohi joined him back, the charity dinner and the auction had already started. It was a big charity event where funds were being collected to help the children-in-need projects all over the world. People have donated different collectible items to be auctioned for the purpose. Arohi was very surprised to learn that Arjun has donated quite a lot and have always done that for different noble causes for years. As the curator kept on auctioning things Arohi got more and more engrossed with the process and finally a set of crystal orchids grabbed her attention. Unconsciously she clutched at Arjun's jacket to express her delight at the absolutely stunning piece "It will look so nice in the hallway". But loads of eyes were at it as well and starting with a simple 100 Euro the price kept on rising with each single bidding and much to her happiness it was finally Arjun who bought it paying a smashing 5000 euro. She could not believe when the curator announced that the piece was actually donated by Arjun and was bought back again by him for a much higher price. On being asked his sweet " well…it is after all a noble cause and even you liked it" made her heart yearn to hug him tight. She had never known this side of him…she had always known him as a ruthless businessman interested in expanding business and winning deals at any cost but never as the benevolent samaritan involved in such activities. Pride encompassed her as she looked at him in open admiration. He had already bought quite a lot and was happily writing a cheque of a generous amount for the cause. He was indeed an unfathomable enigma…with each passing day as she learnt news things about him her and her love for him grew stronger…..she never wanted Aayan to be like his father but now she just hoped that her little man turns out to be exactly like his dad in his nature as well…..

The master of ceremonies's voice brought her back to reality. "Ladies and Gentleman ..like very year we held a secret competition and this year it was for the "Premier Lovers" and I proudly announce the winners…it was none other than our rocking couple Mr Arjun Singhania and his lady love….the beautiful couple who had already rocked the floor with their sizzling kiss"

And suddenly the world seemed to burst in a glitter of flashlights. People cheered, champagne bottles pooped, red roses fell on them. The master of ceremonies came towards them and bowed down" Congratulations!! That was the most impressive kiss of the century….now what about some words on love"

"She always does all the talking on love …so I will leave that to her" Arjun very sheepishly laid the ball on Arohi's court. He couldn't help but laughing at the rosy blush that touched her cheek but she was not to be intimidated by anything. Arjun watched in open awe as she took the mike and her lovely voice echoed everywhere….

"Love is that …love is this….for ages this emotions has been described with loads of different strokes, shades and colours but for me love has only one word…only one meaning….Arjun Singhania…..the man who has taught me how to love ….the true meaning, the true essence of love…..the man I have loved always and will continue doing so till the last day of my life…."As the crowd cheered for Arohi, she looked at Arjun with an intensity that words couldn't describe. It seemed the moment has come to a standstill and there was no holding back…..sh e wanted to pour out all her heart felt feelings to him. "Ladies and gentleman …I know most of you wouldn't understand the song but I have once written it for someone special but never got round to sing it for him.,…with experience I have learnt that life is too short to hold back anything… we might never get an opportunity later…Life has given me a second chance and I want to embrace it will all my love…. this song is for Arjun….the love of my life"

To his surprise she sang the most beautiful song…the song that was only meant for him…the song that was made for him…the song that she had once written only for him …as she continued singing with all her heart and soul ….all thoughts gone…all reason vanished….only an indescribable feeling that finally focused into rapture when he heard her sing and felt his control break…...reaching forward he cupped her beautiful face and clasped her body tight against him as tears of joy, tears of glory simmered through both their eyes ….. there was no need for any words to express their feeling…Love separated them and love only brought them together….
