Chapter 2
It took some seconds for Arohi to realize what Shefali had said and as it registered on her mind she felt a sharp pain in her heart. The sensation is similar to that of a lover when they lose their love. Arohi was the lover and the pendant was her love.
I need to be alone. I can't cry in front of others. I am Arohi who never cries at least in front of others. I had to act strong. I…………..
"Guys I am going to my room. I really need to think. Ok bye…….." Arohi practically ran to her room to avoid the questioning looks of Swayam and Shefali. Once inside her room she couldn't control her tears and she didn't tried to stop them. She just looked out at the moonlit sky and cried her heart out.
I couldn't believe that I lost my dadu's last token of love towards me. I really lost his gift? I never liked to wear any chains around my neck but this pendant was special. This was given by my dadu, the only person who understood the real Arohi and her predicament. Oh god! Please give it back to me. I will do anything for it. I always believed you do everything for a purpose even after having endured some bitter moments! You know na that I got through all that because of my dadu and if I lost his gift how will I get through the rest of my life. Please give it back to me. Please……………
Swayam and Shefali just stared at the retreating Arohi and sighed. "When will she believe us? We are her friends, naa?" asked an exasperated Shefali. "I don't know yaar! I think she believes no one. I don't know when she will let everything go?" replied Swayam. Having nothing to talk they went to their rooms thinking about Arohi.
Just a few miles apart a strongly built man was looking at a pendant. He was really amused by it. It radiates a special feeling everytime he looked at it. He had found it stuck to his jacket and was really surprised about how it reached there. He wondered who might be its owner.
Most probably it belonged to the girl who collided into me. The one who had ran away without even looking or a thank you. There is a chance the girl hadn't seen me but I had seen her alright in the light outside the pub. I had to return it. I really don't like the way she ran away without a thank you. Then again she was afraid! Why am I thinking so much about it? I will return the pendant to the pub authorities and let them deal with it!
But nothing went as Arjun had planned. The pub authorities refused to take the pendant saying it's too valuable. So, instead of the pendant he had to give his phone number so that the owner can call him when she will come looking for the pendant. Arjun was already irritated about having to take the responsibility of the pendant when his younger brother Romit came barging into his cabinet.
"Hey bro what happened to your mood? Did any girl taken it away?"
"When will you improve yout timings Romit?" answered a sarcastic Arjun.
"Ok sorry but really why are you in such a bad mood?"
"Nothing serious, chottu. But when will you introduce your girlfriend to your brother? I am the only one who can convince dad that you are mature enough to marry. You know that, don't you?" asked Arjun with a grin.
"First of all I was going to introduce you two but that fight in the pub ruined everything. Secondly, don't you dare let Shefali know that I wanted to get married to her! I only asked her out last week!"
"Ok baba! I won't tell her anything. Happy?" asked Arjun.
"Yeah!" with this Romit turned to leave but remembered something and told his brother what he had remembered.
"Bro be at the 'Le Caf' at 5. Shefali and her best friends are meeting us there."
Arjun looked at his brother leaving and shooking his head he tried to immerse himself in his work.
Arohi woke really late that morning and didn't care to go the park. She just laid in her bed and think about what to do. Just then an idea struck her mind and she scrambled out of her bed. It took her exactly 15 minutes to get bathed and slip into a black jeans and black tunic shirt. She didn't care for make up and left her hair half wet.
She ran out of her house leaving a puzzled Swayam and a bewildered Shefali. But she had no time for explanations and so she drove to 'The Mystic'.
"So you are saying that a man had come here to return my pendant but you people didn't care to take it from him because it was valuable! You people are just unbelievable!" fumed Arohi.
"Ma'am it was against our policy but we had his number. You can have it if you want." replied a half scared employee
"Of course I want it! Just give me the god damn numbers!" said an exasperated Arohi.
About 5 minutes later Arohi was outside the pub trying to call the man with her pendant. After trying a few times the guy picked the phone.
"Hello" a rough voice answered.
