Baby on the way

"Well you're only two centimetres dilated and we need to get to ten. It'll be a while. I'll be back in an hour to check you again." Dr.kabir spoke. "Oh, okay, Thank you." Arohi replied back. Arjun walked back into the ward after calling Sara and Ria."Well, I guess we have some time to kill."Arohi moaned. "Yeah, guess so." Arohi scanned the room and tried to avoid any eye contact with Arjun. "Oh. Oh Arjun '" Arohi stuttered with her eyes shut."What?" he questioned."Here comes another contraction." it was very painful, and bothersome like really sharp cramps."Oh. Okay, just breathe."

(Couple of hours later)

"Dr. kabir, I've been here for seventeen hours! Three women have come and gone with their babies, you got to give me some good news! How many centimetres am I dilated? Eight? Nine?" she guessed."Three." the doctor replied. Arohi face dropped, she held up 3 fingers and pointed them at the doctor. "Just three?! I'm dilated three!" she repeated in an annoyed manner."We are moving along, just slowly."Arohi laid on her back and sighed."Don't worry, you're doing great. I'll be back soon." With that note the doctor left."Hey, y'know what? I'm not waiting! I'm going to push this baby out! I'm doing it! I mean it's what? Three centimetres? That's got to be like this!" she Holds her hands a couple inches apart. Arjun takes hold of her hand and pushes them less than inch apart. "Actually 3 centimetre is more like this."

Couple of seconds later the nurse brought new women into Arohi's ward."Okay! Okay wait! You listen to me! You listen to me! Since I have been waiting three women, that's three, the same number of centimetres that I am dilated, have come and gone with their babies! I'm next! It's my turn! It's only fair! And if you bring in one woman and she has her baby before me I'm going to sue you! Not this hospital, I'm going to sue you!" she squealed"I don't think the next patient is very far along, she won't be any competition." The nurse brought the new women in and placed her opposite Arohi. "Wow! The new people?" Arohi muttered she whined in an irritated behaviour,"Oh God oh! Contraction!"

(4 hours later)

The new woman that was placed opposite Arohi had become a mum and Arohi was still in the same place and in a very uncomfortable state. "Oh that's four Arjun. Four women have had four babies! And I have had no babies! Why doesn't he or she want to come out?" she covered her face in frustration. Arjun scraped his hand over his hand and sat beside Arohi "You know what I think it is? I think you've made such a nice surrounding for her over the last nine months that he or she just doesn't want to leave." Arohi laughed sarcastically "Oh. Your really good for making up crap for me. Oh God! Another contraction" it felt like a real sore tightening wave down my tummy. Just then dr.Kabir came in to check on Arohi and her progress."Twenty-two hours, you're a conqueror!" the doctor smiled at her."Doctor you got to do something! I think you got to give me drugs and go get high." She waved her upper limbs in the air."Actually, I think you're ready to go to the delivery room." The doctor responded."What?" Arohi could not believe it, "you Ten centimetres, you're about to become a mom and you becoming a dad." Arohi put her hand over her mouth in surprise." My Gosh." As she was about to leave the ward and make her way into the delivery room a Another woman entered the ward, Arohi could not hold her victory inside," na-nana-na-na beat you! Loser!" she splattered these words on this unknown lady face.

(Delivery room)

"Push. Push. Come on push for five seconds. 5'4'" the doctor counted."3-2-1 oh." She began feel more impatient and frustration because she just wanted the baby out."Okay, the next contraction should be in about twenty seconds. There was pain but mostly pressure, "I can't. I can't push anymore, I can't, give me the gas and air!" she took a deep breath in."Arohi you're doing great." Arjun held her hand."Oh Gosh twenty seconds my ass, here I go!!" the doctor direct, "Okay, keep pushing! Wait! I see something." Arjun Looked over and his eyes widened," Oh my God!, what is that?"Arjun asked in shock."It's the baby's head." The doctor explained. Arjun put his hand on his heart and exhaled noisily,"Oh thank God." the doctor nodded and looked over to Arohi "Okay, she's in a more difficult position so you're going to have to push even harder now. Go! Push!" Arohi pushed, "Arohi you're going to have to push even harder, nothing's happening!" Arohi nodded her head, "I'm sorry, I can't!" she cried."Yes you can!" Arjun tried to be supportive. Arohi grabbed his shirt and pulled him towards her, "I can't!, am here because of you so you do it for me." She snapped back at him sternly."No! Come on let's'One more time! One final push! Ready? 1'2'3!.Keep pushing!" Arjun yelled, he moved forward and looked over."Oh! Oh! It's upside down but it's coming! It's coming!" Arjun spoke in utter anticipation. "You've passed the shoulders. One more big push."

The baby came out and the Dr. Kabir passed it to the nurse so she could clean it up."Oh! Oh it's here, it's a girl." Arjun says warmly. They newest friend cried, they wrapped the baby up and Dr. Kabir walked over and handed it to Arohi," Here she is!" she was placed in Arohi's arms, at that moment a child was born but also a mother, She never existed before. As she held her she felt a tie which linked her to her to the child, it had pure and immaculate strength as to be never violated. Arohi touched her baby girls tender finger, it was the tiniest thing she ever decided to put her whole life into."Oh hi. Thanks for coming out of me." The baby cried "Hi! I know you." Arohi slips a tear from her breath. "She's perfect, Arohi."Arohi and Arjun look into each other's eyes, everything seemed so perfect.

(50 mins later)

"Can we come in?"(Neev, Ria and Sara.)"Oh, come in." Arjun said in response. Ria picked her up" There she is!, Oh, she's so beautiful." Ria squealed in excitement. Couple of minutes later Ria handed the baby over to Neev."Oh my! She's amazing It's incredible, I mean one minute she's inside you and then 24 hours later here she is." "Okay, my turn." Neev handed her to Sara."Hi am your auntie.Oh! You're so cute! Oh, I could squeeze you and cuddle you!" Ria asked, "So, do you know what you're going to call her yet?" Arjun who was stood up with his hands in his pocket answered,"Uh actually, we-we've narrowed it down to two names and y'know what? I love them both, so why don't you guys just pick one and that'll be it."There was a pause,"Umm, okay uh' Sanya."There was a light silence," That's not her name! I'm sorry, she just doesn't feel like an Sanya." Ria expressed her own opinion."What was the other one Arjun?" Neev enquired. "Umm, Alisha." He smiled. Sara walked over to the cot where the baby was placed."Yay! It's clearly an Alisha.Oh, I love that name, so does she."Sara picks her up and hands her over to Arohi."Yes it's definitely Alisha!"

(1 hour later)

Arohi is sitting in the hospital bed, she was crying silently. Arjun walked in with a glass of water and realised that she is crying." What's the matter?" he placed the cup bedside table and sits beside her." Oh nothing I' Sorry, I just can't stop crying, it's nothing." She gurgles from her mouth." Are sure, look you can tell me, what the matter?" Arohi wipes her tears," I wish my family where here." She sobbed.arjun took hold of her hand," am sorry that your family is not here, but I will always be here, so will Alisha We're so lucky. She's perfect" Arohi nodded "We really are."
