A day just like any other
The one a country hailed together
Decided the fate of two forever
One cast in an empire
The other in a state of dire
Destinies intertwined with fire
A passionate tale of ambitious desire
A well known affluent production house churns out a brilliant, "best selling" plot, adaptively placed in a classic era with an abundance of good actors. I have not seen a Yash Raj show till date, and I must say Kismat stood out of the ordinary. The essence of a cinema was etched in almost every scene, be it the audio, the background score, the color of the reel, the backdrop setup and the detailing of the characters. The actors play their part with conviction. Be it the puritan grandmother or the annoying begum, the determined mother of Kabir or the charming and exemplary Madhav Merchant.
There are some differences, I noticed with this show and the suggested plot. Though its been long since, I read Kane and Abel, I dont remember thinking Archer focussed more on Abel than Kane. Here, I felt that Kismat focuses more on Kabir than Aditya. Do I see my hero in Kabir or Aditya Raj Madhav Merchant? The portrayal would make most choose Kabir, but only time shall tell who scores over whom.
Also, I am a post-independence child, so my understanding of the era is only based on what I have read in history and likes, but I didnt quite grasp the intent of Mubarak killing every hindrance along his way. Was it the time that made him such? I wonder. Is it an glimpse of what Kabir will become in the future? In contrast, we see Aditya wanting to win the game of cricket, but abiding by the rules.
All in all, I for the first time in many years wished, I were back in India where I could watch this show in real-time.😊
