She said a good bye to her family who had come to bid a good bye to her. She had told them not to but they were too excited to listen to her explanation or reasoning and had accompanied her to the Mumbai railway station. She was no more a small kid and more importantly she was just going there for a day. Actually not even a day. She was supposed to return back to Mumbai in the evening. And how far was Pune from Mumbai? It was going to take hardly 2-3 hours. But they wouldn't listen.
Making herself comfortable on her seat next to the window she let her thoughts wonder over the events of the past 2 days and reason why she was going to Pune.
She Heer Maan was the only daughter of Dr. Balraj Maan, cardiologist at City Hospital Mumbai and Dr. Teji Maan Pediatrician at City Hospital Mumbai. Neither did Heer have any siblings nor did her parents. So theirs was a choti si family. Being the only child of her parents she was pampered but never over pampered. Although her both parents were doctors they had never forced her to choose the same profession. She had done her course in interior designing and was now working as an interior designer. She was very happy with her profession and so were her parents. At 23 she was content with her life, but her parents were not of the same opinion.
Two days ago when she had come home in the evening, she had found both her parents seated on the sofa having their evening cup of tea. She had joined them and were having a general light hearted conversation when her mother had brought in the topic of marriage. Marriage?? Well she had never really given a thought to it. She was always so busy and occupied that the thought of Marriage had not crossed her mind. So when her mother had brought the topic, she didn't actually know what to say. She was informed that one of her mother's friend had suggested a boy for her. He was staying with his family at Pune.. Other than that her parents hadn't told her anything. They insisted her to meet him, talk to him, know him and then if she was okay with it, the families could meet and talk about the remaining things.
The boy's family had agreed for the proposal and so had the boy, now the ball was in her court whether to agree to meet him or not. Her parents had told her that her decision would be final and there was no sort of pressure on her.
She had asked them for a day's time. And they had happily agreed. Yesterday night when she had returned back home, she had informed them about her decision to meet the boy. And immediately they had fixed the meeting for today. The boy would be waiting for her on the railway station. She hadn't got sleep for the whole night thinking about the proposal, tossing and turning in her bed. She knew she was simply worrying but then she couldn't be blamed could she? How was she suppose to feel about this whole thing. It was only early in the morning that sleep had finally taken over her thoughts. The morning had just been blur. Getting up, getting ready and all the other stuff and by the time she realized she was already on the railway station. And so here was Heer Maan on her way to Pune to meet the guy and who stayed at Pune with his family. And how was she supposed to know him? Well she had no clue. She had his phone number saved on her cell and was informed that he would be coming to pick her up on the railway station. This meant that he knew her.
Upon reaching the station she decided to give him a call. But the call went unanswered. She went and took a seat on the nearby bench and tried calling him, and yet again the call went unanswered. What was she suppose to do now?? Well she would wait for another 15 minutes and if he doesn't turn up, she would go about sightseeing Pune. She had no other option though. Her train was only in the evening. Not really actually, she could take a ticket for travelling to Mumbai and go right then but she didn't want to.
The buzzing of the cell phone brought her out of the thoughts. It was from "Mr. Busy". Well that is what she had named him few minutes ago. She opened the message which read,
" Sorry Heer. I know I was suppose to be there. But had to attend an urgent meeting. Could you please wait till evening so that I could meet you. Please?"
Firstly this was unfair. He knew her name and she didn't.
Secondly he expected her to wait till evening? Oh-kie even she had thought about the same till evening but still. No sense of responsibility.
Thirdly what she had named him was right. " Mr. Busy"
She replied with an "okie" and turned in the other direction and collided with something hard. She lost her balance and closed her eyes expecting to hit the ground but that never happened. Rather she felt two strong arms going around her waist and holding her and as a reflex action she found herself holding onto him. Opening her eyes she felt a familiar pair of honey brown eyes looking at her. She at once stood steady and the owner of honey brown eyes left his hold.
" tum theek hon?" she heard him ask and she nodded.
Calming herself she looked at his face and found something familiar, she felt as if she had met him before but she couldn't remember. He was smiling at her.
" You don't remember me I suppose?"
She gave him a sheepish grin. " actually I find your face familiar but cant recall where I had seen you."
" Hmm well I see you tend to forget people very soon. To refresh your memory, if u can recall Community hall, Mumbai, one and a half week ago. Does this ring any bell?"
The confusion on her face was replaced by a smile. " yeah, the workshop for architects and interior decorators. Prem Juneja the owner of Juneja Architecture Firm. How can I not remember, although we had spoken for a brief 20 minutes.
And she found him giving her a smile.
" So Ms. Heer Maan finally recognizes me. But what are you doing here? Some new project?"
"Arrr well I had come to see a guy for marriage. But apparently he happens to be busy. I am supposed to meet him in the evening. And I don't know what to do now. I thought of sightseeing Pune to pass time."
" hmm since you have come to my city, I would be honoured if you let me be your guide for a day. I'll show you around Pune and may be drop you back here so that you can meet whoever you have come to meet. What say?"
" well if you are that free to take me around, then I wouldn't mind." Said heer and both of them started laughing.
She followed him out of the station as he led the way.
" how about we go to my house from here and then we head to go out, if you don't mind?"
"Okay. That is fine by me."
And she went with him as he drove the car to his home.

A/N: Hello guys!! Happy makar sakranti, happy pongal and happy eid-e-milad...
By the grace of us god they gave us a holdiday today.. so here m posting something... please ignore all ... Saturday I wont be free as we have a major programme of our legal aid...
The basic concept of this story is from a Marathi movie which my sister had forced me to watch. ( Trust her to watch Marathi movie. I don't understand the language completely but just small bits. She has started watching Marathi movies from the time she has shifted to Pune. And now when she comes to goa she makes me watch them with her. *Me the poor soul* oh and harshad bhaiya and Additi di have also studied in Pune and now are in Mumbai :D) anyways so the basic concept is from there and I found it interesting. So I wrote a story based on that.
PS: I guess this is my first story based on Heer's POV. I always write with Prem's but couldn't write in this one. Heheheh :P:P:P
Feel free to criticize. Hope u all liked it atleast a bit. Muuwha :* love you all
