"Kai Po Che" star Sushant Singh Rajput says his love and passion for cinema are his driving force to do something new onscreen

"I don't work for fame and money. I work for the love and passion of cinema. For
me, it does not matter if I am acting in films or TV or doing theatre.
The day I stop getting interesting work in films, I would go back to
doing TV," Sushant told reporters here at a promotional event of his
upcoming film 'Shudh Desi Romance'.

The actor became a household name with TV serial "Pavitra Rishta". In
his upcoming romantic-comedy film "Shuddh Desi Romance", Sushant is
seen locking lips with newcomer Vaani Kapoor.

There were reports that things went wrong between him and his girlfriend Ankita
Lokhande after the scene. But Sushant denies them, saying, "There were
no issues about it (kissing). She (Ankita) is quite supportive, she
knows its part of my job, she is an actor too," Sushant said.

The event saw the launch of a new song 'Gulabi' from the film. Also,
newcomer Vaani was introduced to the media. Going by the theme of the
song, the two actors were dressed in pink and the set was decorated with
pink color frills.

Going by the title of the film 'Shuddh Desi Romance', Sushant said it was a different kind of a love story set in rural India. "There are lot of love stories being made mostly outside
India. Our film is different, presenting the issues, problems between
love and commitment in a desi way," Sushant said. Directed by Maneesh
Sharma and also starring Parineeti Chopra, the film is slated to be
released on September 6.

Sushant also revealed that his girlfriend and television star Ankita was considered for the upcoming romantic comedy 'Happy New Year' starring Shahrukh Khan.

"I know she was considered for this film. Its a big film and it feels
good that she was considered. Its a big thing," Sushant said. Ankita
became popular after playing the role of Archana Manav Deshmukh in Ekta
Kapoor's "Pavitra Rishta"

We met Sushant Singh Rajput and newbie Vaani Kapoor to hear more about their forthcoming romantic venture

His well sculpted bod, a fabulous performance and a promising screen presence in Abhishek Kapoor's widely acclaimed movie Kai Po Che made Sushant Singh Rajputan instant success. Even before Kai Po Che, Sushant had made his presence felt in Zee Television's popular daily soap Pavitra Rishta and now he is excited about his new film under the Yash Raj banner. Titled Shuddh Desi Romance, this movie is directed by Maneesh Sharma who has earlier delivered Band Baaja Baaraat and Ladies Vs Ricky Bahl under the YRF camp.

Shuddh Desi Romance may look like candy floss, pink wala love type's romantic movie featuring a regular love with Sushant, Parineeti Chopra and newbie Vaani Kapoor, but Sushant insists the plot is really hatke. "Interestingly, Shudh Desi Romance deals with various conflicts one faces from the time one proposes to someone to making a commitment with that person for lifetime. Once the initial hoopla of being in love dies, you seriously start thinking if you are doing a right thing by marrying that individual. It happens with all of us. Shudh Desi Romance is all about those conflicts and confusions," said Sushant.

The good looking actor has always maintained that he prefers critical acclaim to box office success and he also believes that this film will receive a fab response since the concept is really different and the youth will be able to relate. "I choose content over commerce and this film has various conflicting points that got me interested in this project," added Sushant.

Now we are waiting to see this charming actor to spread his share of shudh desi romance. What about you, BollywoodLifers?

Zanjeer-Shudh Desi Romance and Grand Masti-John Day to compete with each other on same Fridays.

Films producers are fighting for an open window in a crowded 2013 calendar. One of the dates in contention is September 6.

Ram Charan's Bollywood debut, Zanjeerhad booked that Friday, months earlier, as had Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria forGrand Masti. But unanticipated announcements from Anjum Rizvi's John Day and YRF's

Shuddh Desi Romance queered up the pitch for both producers.

Thakeria has pushed his Masti sequel to September 13. "Now, we will not only get better screen space, but the date also gives us sufficient time for our post-production," he reasons.

John Day has also shifted to the following Friday. Says Rizvi, one of the producers, "When Shuddha Desi Romance shifted to September 6, we did not want the week to get too crowded so decided to move to September 13." On competition from the Masti franchise he retorts, "Both the films belong to different genres, we can co-exist."

Grand Masti's producer-director Indra Kumar echoes the same sentiments, "Ours is an adult sex comedy, their film is more serious. If good, both will do well. I'm enthused by the response I've been getting. Besides, 13 is my lucky number." Apoorva Lakhia, director of
Zanjeer, however, is sticking to his original date undaunted by his YRF rival. "These days it is impossible to get a solo release so we will go with what is in our control," he asserts.

Meanwhile, director Manish Sharma, writer Jaideep Sahni and actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Parineeti Chopra and Vaani Kapoor suddenly find themselves in a tizzy as an invite for a red carpet premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 11 has resulted in the release date of their film, Shuddh Desi Romance, being preponed by a week. Acknowledging this Rafiq Gangjee, vice-president, marketing & communications, YRF says, "Given that it is crucial to have our artistes here and actively involved with the pre-release marketing we chose to prepone our release."

Now, Parineeti Chopra too wants to visit Ambala as a city visit for promotions,after Sushant makes a call to YRF for Patna, she also says we should visit Ambala. As we all know Parineeti hails from Ambala, the actress has also put forward her wish for visiting Ambala during city promotions.

Sushant dint get a chance to promote Kai Po Che! at his hometown, but now the actor doesn't want to miss a chance this time. Hence he has expressed his wish of visiting his hometown for the promotions of his next film Shuddh Desi Romance. Along with which we also will be having Parineeti visiting her own hometown.

Both the actors are very keen to promote their film in their respective hometown. The city promotions will take place tentatively during second or third week of august.

The film has generated quite a lot of buzz in regards with it's casting, both Sushant and Parineeti share a strong chemistry. Besides Vaani Kapoor who will debut with SDR also has created the stir among audience.

It's the first film which has been entirely set in a small town like Jaipur.

Shuddh Desi Romance, is a fresh and very real love story about the hair raising minefield between love, attraction and commitment. A romantic comedy that finally tells it like it is!

The film is set to release on 6th September.

Spokesperson confirms the news and adds "Sushant and Parineeti both have been quite excited to promote Shuddh Desi Romance in their respective hometowns. Both are newcomers and full of energy. To have their film being promoted in their own hometown, it's a different feel altogether.
