Shantanu Moitra to compose music for P.K.

Though Rajkumar Hirani has turned producer with P.K., he is keen to work with his old team. While Vidhu Vinod Chopra remains the presenter of his film, Hirani has roped in music director Shantanu Moitra for the film. This marks the third collaboration between the director and the music composer after Lage Raho Munnabhai and 3 Idiots. "The makers are currently working on the songs and Shantanu is composing them," says a source. Stanley D'Costa who had earlier choreographed Vidya Balan for Mala zau de in Ferrari Ki Sawaari will work with Anushka Sharma for one of the songs. Co-starring Aamir Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput, the film will be shot in Delhi, Italy, Rajasthan and Mumbai.

Director Abhishek Kapoor to flag off film promotions with a grand
kite-flying event on Makar Sankranti Kai Po Che!

Trust filmmakers to come up with innovative ideas to promote their ventures. The makers of Kai Po Che! have decided to kickstart the promotional activity of the movie by organising a gala kite- flying event in Ahmendabad, Gujarat. Since the film is based
and shot in the city too, they found it fitting to begin the series of pre-release events from
there.

Director Abhishek Kapoor will be hosting this event on the occasion of Makar Sankranti on January 14 next year. "It will be
attended by the entire cast and crew of the film. Hundreds of locals will also be invited for it,"
says the source. To make the event more interesting and interactive, the makers have also decided to
organise a contest for the locals. The source adds that the Rock On! (2008) director has also invited few of his friends from
the film fraternity to be part of the event. "His friends were very
excited to hear about the
concept and readily agreed to participate in the event." However, the source refrained
from revealing any names. When Abhishek Kapoor was contacted, he confirmed the
development, saying, "Yes, we have a very active promotion
plans in Gujarat. UTV (the film's production company) is leaving
no stoned unturned to promote the film in a big way across in India. The festival of Makar
Sankranti holds a lot of
significance in Gujarat. I am looking forward to celebrating it there. It should be fun."

The film, based on author Chetan Bhagat's novel The 3 Mistakes of
My Life, revolves around the lives of three friends. Actors Sushant Singh Rajput, Raj Kumar Yadav
and Amit Sadh play the male characters, while Amrita Puri plays the female lead in the film.
Kai Po Che! is set to hit theatres on February 22 next year.

One idiot missing

Asignificant amount of hype over director Rajkumar Hirani's next,
P.K., is centred around the
apparent return of the 3 Idiots (2009) trio - Aamir Khan, R Madhavan and Sharman Joshi.

However, the latest news is that the trio will not be seen together in P.K., as Madhavan isn't part of
the film. "They (the filmmakers) might have thought of him for
the film initially, but he is not there now," a source close to the film unit reveals.

The speculation stemmed from the fact that both Aamir and Sharman are part of the film, as is
Boman Irani (he played the oddball college principal in 3 Idiots). "Boman plays a funny
character in P.K... It's an important role," the source says. However, Hirani has brought in
an actor from his hit Munna Bhai series. Arshad Warsi is now all set to star in PK. "Arshad is
playing an interesting role in the film. It's meant to be an entertainer, and Arshad is the best fit for it," says the source,
adding, "The shooting for the film hasn't started yet." The film will apparently go on the floors early next year. "The dates are sorted and the makers will start
shooting in January," adds the source.

Aamir Khan continues the trend of releasing films during Xmas; P.K. might miss the date, but Dhoom:3 will be his fourth film to release during the festive season in 2013

From page A Christmas seems to be lucky for Aamir Khan. He's been part of three back-to-back blockbusters that released during the Christmas weekend in the past ' Taare Zameen Par (2007), Ghajini (2008) and 3 Idiots (2009). And although the actor doesn't have a release this year, if all goes well, his next movie, Dhoom:3, will hit theatres during Christmas next year.

Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani's P.K., which was earlier rumoured to have a year-end release, might not be completed on time.

"Aamir has already completed a long shooting schedule for Dhoom:3 in Chicago. He was supposed to start shooting for P.K. in January, but in all likelihood, the first half of 2013 will be devoted to wrapping up Dhoom:3. As a result, P.K. might not be completed in time for a Christmas release," says a trade insider.

Although the film hasn't gone on the floors yet, P.K. has already been making news. Besides the casting, the film's shooting dates have also been in the news. The project was supposed to take off in October, but it didn't start on schedule. Later, the director had stated that he would start the shoot in December with leading lady Anushka Sharma. But now it's believed that the film will hit the floors only by mid-January 2013.

Other than Anushka, the film also stars TV actor Sushant Singh Rajput. In the past, names such as Imran Khan and Ranbir Kapoor were also doing the rounds for Sushant's part.

"Everyone knows that Aamir wants to focus on one movie at a time. So, he isn't in a big hurry to start P.K. The movie will be shot in and around Rajasthan and Delhi," says the source.

On the other hand, we've heard that the Dhoom:3 producers Yash Raj Films (YRF) have huge plans for the film's release. The multi-starrer project also features Katrina Kaif, Jackie Shroff, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra.

So, we move on to her other project - Rajkumar Hirani's Peekay, in which she reportedly has been paired with Sushant Singh Rajput and not Aamir Khan. "I'm opposite both," she says with much pride and explains, "Sushant has only eight days worth of work. Hirani's wife used to tell him that heroines never have a good role in his films. This time, he has changed that. I am proud that he chose me. Sushant is just a small chapter in my life."

'Kai Po Che!' trailer gets U/A certificate

"Kai Po Che!", whose title has been derived from a common Gujarat phrase used during Makar Sankranti, has been entirely shot in the heartland of Gujarat.

New Delhi, Dec 14 (IANS) The trailer of Abhishek Kapoor's "Kai Po Che!" will be released with Salman Khan's "Dabangg 2", which hits the screens Dec 21.

Shikha Kapur, executive director, marketing, Studios, Disney UTV, confirmed and said: "Yes, it is true that 'Kai Po Che' trailer is being attached with 'Dabangg 2'.

The film has been passed with a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification.
