Shot-4

She stood in front of the door and tried to calm her pacing heart. She took a deep breath and rang the bell. The door opened and he was standing in casuals but still he made her heart fly.

She was looking very elegant and pretty in the simple anarkali she wore. He thought how she could manage to blow him off even with simple look. He invited her in.

"Hey, I hope you didn't find much trouble locating the place." Prem asked her.

"Nop, you did manage to give very clear picture of the area. I found it very easily." Heer told him.

"Oh good. Di and jeej came early this morning and took mom and dad out to meet some relatives. They'll be back for lunch, I hope its ok." Prem asked and Heer nodded.

"Prem, please don't be so formal." Heer requested as she found him trying to make her feel comfortable.

"Well I was just trying to be a good host." Prem winked.

"Ha-ha-ha" Heer prentended to smile.

"So what were you doing all alone?" Heer asked him.

"Cooking'" He told and walked ahead.

"What??" Heer was surprised as she followed him to kitchen.

She saw few dishes already cooked.

"You made this. Are you serious?" Heer raised her eyebrow.

"What?? You don't believe. I was alone in U.S for five years so had to learn it." Prem told her how he used to bug his mother or di for the recipes and learnt them.

"Woww." Heer said as she tasted one of the dishes.

"Thank you." He bowed.

"But there's something I need your help in' I just can't make sweet. The measuring always goes wrong. Can you do that?" He asked her.

"I'm not sure but I can try it. It's just little over two months I've started to learn cooking. I just don't enter kitchen at all and my mom was fed up. She started to threaten me that she wouldn't allow me to step out of the house on weekend if I don't try something. So, since then every weekend and sometimes when I feel like I started to cook. She says I've improved a lot. So, I'm taking a chance." She told him.

"That's okay. It's only when you try, you get to know." He told her.

"So, what do you want me to make?" She asked him.

He pointed to the grated carrot and smiled.

"Gazar ka halwa" Both said at the same time.

"Coooll' I just love it and it was actually the first item I learned." She told and started to work.

Almost after half-an-hour, they were done. They chatted about lot of things and even made little mess throwing things at each other. They cleaned up everything and sat in the hall.

The landline was ringing so, Prem asked Heer to take a tour of the house, till he attends it. Heer got up and started to explore. She took the stairs.

She reached up to some door and wondered if it was his. She didn't know why but she just wanted to see it. As the door opened, she saw a huge picture of his on the wall and it gave her confirmation that it was his room. For some time, she was lost admiring his picture. Then, she realized she was behaving like a crazy teenager.

She walked around. It looked perfect, painted in white and green. She saw the photo frames hanging around on one side of the wall and smiled. His childhood pictures with family and few with friends all of them were there. On the other side, contained medals, trophies of things he achieved. She admired him. She turned to leave when something got her attention. She walked back to his bed. On the table beside his bed, there was a dual frame with one picture of his and the other'. As she noticed it, she stood there numb.

"Well, you've already found you're way into my heart and my room, so how about letting me grace my presence in your life too?"

She turned to see him standing by the door, with crossed arms. She never ever imagined the situation even in her dreams. She did love him but never prepared herself to let him know. She always thought, he considered her a good friend which was why she was apprehensive of telling him what she felt. But now, here he was asking her so casually as if he knew she would say yes.

A part of her was dwelling in the happiness, he loved her' and on the other side nervous, how was she going to tell him. She prayed to God to help her and as if her prayers were heard, the bell rang continuously causing Prem to curse and leave from there. Heer came down silently taking a deep breath.

As he opened the door, Gayatri and Lalit hurriedly came in, followed by Priya and Ram who gave him a helpless look. Heer walked to them and took blessings and Lalit, Gayatri were so happy to see her in person. She looked even more beautiful and simple, the way they always wanted for Prem.

All of them sat together. Heer seemed to get along very well with his family, he thought as watched her chatting with them. He sat in a corner sulking that the moment was gone. It was time for lunch and every one praised Prem for the food and later when Heer herself served the halwa she made, Gayatri got confirmed that she good become a good daughter-in-law and they should take things ahead as soon as possible.

The time just passed as Heer listened to all the antics Prem did as a child while Prem was embarrassed that his mother was telling her almost everything. It was evening and Heer realized it was quite late. She took permission to leave, promising that she'd come next weekend too.

Prem offered to drop her wondering at least now he'd get some time with her. The ride was all silent and it was killing Prem, he couldn't handle the suspense anymore.

"So, Heer what do you think?" He asked her, trying to sound casual.

"About what?" She asked trying to hide the giggle as she saw him look at her wide-eyed.

"Hmm about what happened at my place?" Prem tried not to compose himself.

"Ram jiju is so funny, Priya di needless to say is very friendly and your mom I enjoyed the most with her'.." Heer tried to play with him so she went on and on about how she enjoyed herself, she didn't miss the disappointed look on his face but she wanted to feel the love which he hid from her all these days. To Prem's utter dismay, they reached her place and she got down.

"Bye Prem' see you on Monday" She smiled.

"Bye" He said and then "what till Monday??" he shouted.

"Yea' tomorrow is Sunday, no office so Monday." She sounded casual although she thought how she was going to manage without seeing him till Monday especially after she knew he loves her as well'. Prem looked at her thinking something.

"Ok then see you Monday. Bye" He said and drove away.

He left'How could he leave just like that? She cursed herself for playing around may be he was angry. She walked home dejected.

She didn't know what to do. She thought of calling him but then decided not to. Preet's call brought her out of thought.

"Hey Heer' I told you to call me as soon as you come back from his place. What happened?" Preet didn't let her talk and went on.

"Preeet' let me speak." She told him everything that happened.

"OMG wow he confessed." Preet shouted.

"But Preet it wasn't a confession" Heer tried to make her point.

"OMG you girls never change. What do you want him to do? Go on his knees and bow to you." Preet ranted.

"I didn't mean that." She told.

"Then' Isn't it pretty obvious what he's asking you?" Preet questioned.

"But what's the point he's already there" She answered.

"Oh meri maaa' then tell him that" Preet shouted.

"I know Preet but I just wanted to feel it' his love'" Heer smiled as she recalled how throughout the lunch and discussions later his eyes travelled with her, the disappointment that she wasn't looking at him and not answering to him. How did she miss it all these days?

"Okay, okay what next?" Preet asked.

"I'll have to do something. Waiting till Monday, no ways." She told him.

"All the best" Preet told and call ended.

Next morning Heer woke up as she heard commotion going on outside.

"Papa what is going on?" She asked as came down and settled on the couch.

"Ask your mom? She got a call and since then, she was moving in and out, arranging things, instructing servants. She didn't even reply me when I asked." Balraaj told his daughter.

"Heer you are awake, go and take bath. I'll get the new saree for you. Go now, we don't have much time." Teji literally dragged her upstairs and sent to bath.

Heer found something fishy but she got ready. Teji came and felt happy as Heer got ready as she was told.

"You look really pretty" She kissed her forehead and as she heard car horn, she ran out shouting for Balraaj.

"Balraaj, they're here. Where are you?" Teji shouted as she reached the hall.

"I'm here. I'm not able to find my spectacles." Balraaj said.

"You'll never change. Here they are, she picked them up from the table and handed him. What will the groom's family think if we don't even go to invite then in' Comee" She almost dragged him out.

Heer was watching it all from upstairs. When she heard groom's family, she was dumbstruck. Someone was coming to see her and she was not informed at all. Her thoughts immediately went to Premmm. God I should have told mom and dad. Now what am I going to do?

She ran away to her room. She was not able to think properly. What will she do?? She was so lost in thought that she didn't realize someone stepping in to her room.

"Heer" She heard and raised her head. In no time, she launched herself into his arms.

"Heer what happened? Why are you so tensed?" He asked her as he felt her hugging him as if she was going to lose him.

"Prem I love you" She said in one go and tightened the grip on him.

"I love you too Heer" He said as he closed his eyes, feeling the joy of the moment. He then, realized she was tensed. He broke out of the hug. He comfortably sat on her bed.

"Prem, I can't believe it. My parents want me to meet someone. They didn't even tell me. What am I going to do?" Heer asked as she let herself fall on the chair in front of the mirror. Prem understood the situation.

"Don't you think that 'someone' is handsome?" He said as he set his hair in front of the mirror. Heer looked at him through mirror for a minute, then realized how could he be in her room now and her mother walked in just then.

"Prem, oh you found the room. Good I just came to check if you were here or not. I'll leave now." She closed the door and walked away.

"Its' you" Heer shouted.

"Yes it's me" Prem said raising his collar.

Heer ran over to him and strangled his throat.

"Heer… heer… leave me yaar I'll die" He shouted.

"You know how I felt, I was so scared." She said scolding him.

"I'm sorry but I don't really mind. If you weren't scared, you would have never told me" He grinned.

"Told you what?" She asked in anger.

"Well golden words are not repeated. Thank you. Thank you so much" He teased.

Heer threw all the teddies and things she got in hand at him.

"OMG I never realized you have such a big temper." Prem said as she saved himself from the things coming his way. She was getting more and more irritated as he was teasing her.

She picked up the vase and he looked at her in shock. She placed it back and made a pout. He opened his arms and she ran towards him. She rested her head on his heart, and he placed his chin on her head.

"I'm sorry. You didn't answer me and I couldn't wait till Monday." Prem said.

"You wanted an answer. Didn't you know, you were already part of my life?" Heer questioned as she raised her eyes to see him.

"I knew but still its' better to be sure you know" He winked.

"Oh so now you're sure" She raised an eye-brow.

"Yea thank god otherwise I'd have been a fool in front of my family who came all prepared for the rokha" He sighed.

"What? Today? Now?" She questioned.

"Yes, it's been a month now Heer, I can't wait anymore. You've disturbed me enough." He said playing with her hair.

"But when did you meet my parents?" She asked.

He pulled her to sit on the bed and rested his head on her lap.

"I didn't. My parents met." He answered.

"What? When? I met your family just yesterday." She was shocked how things could happen so fast.

"Well, a month ago. Priya di saw you in a party and instantly liked you. Then she told to mom and dad, they met your parents. You remember, the first time we met…" His eyes lit as he recalled and he noticed her smile too.

"That evening, Jeej actually told me about things going on and he'd send me your pic… I was worried. I never thought about marriage. I talked to you without knowing you're the one. Later, when we were in train, I got the pic and I was shocked to see it was you. I don't know why but I just felt something when I saw you, we kept meeting and I realized, you're the one… I love you" He said and kissed her forehead.

Heer smiled and hugged him. "I love you too"

"So ready to marry me?" He got down on his knees and extended his head,

"Well if you're ready to bear me for the rest of your life, why would I mind…" Heer said placing her hand in his.

"Lets' go down. They'll be wondering if something is wrong." Heer pulled him but he pulled her back. Before she could say anything, he sealed her lips with his. They heard a knock on the door. She hid herself in his chest as he caressed her back. They composed themselves and went down with a wide smile on their face.

As they walked together, hand in hand both the families were happy to see them. They just looked made for each other. Heer went to her parents. They gave her an apologizing look, while she smiled assuring them that she was happy.

Prem and Heer were made to sit together. Gayatri placed the red chunari on the top of her head and performed the rest of the rituals. The families congratulated each other and fed sweets.

Prem took a laddoo ate half and rest of it fed to Heer without getting noticed by anyone.

"Heer, I haven't told you something yet." Prem said as they stood beside each other.

"What?" Heer asked as she saw both families lost in talks.

"I'm having a very hard time, trying not to look at you. You look so amazing today in this saree. I mean you look good in everything you wear but saree is just so different." He confessed.

"Thank you. Prem remember you told me there's sparkle in my eyes when I smile. That sparkle is only because you manage to sweep my heart with one look of yours. I just feel like flying in air." Heer turned to see him as she felt his gaze on her and was lost in his eyes. She could feel the unspoken conversation going on between them.

Priya and Ram noticed both of them lost in each other.

"Ahem ahem" They coughed as they stood beside them.

"Whats' happening here?" Priya asked.

"Com'mon Priya. Let the lovebirds' romance" Ram winked.

"I don't mind but they're elders here, so they'll have to hold themselves for some time." Priya hid her smile as she saw them turn deep red.

"I just can't believe. One month back, he was shouting jeej how could di do this and now blushing here" Ram nudged Prem.

"Will you both just stop it?" Prem told them as he was feeling embarrassed.

"Thank you di" Heer hugged her.

"Well, I was expecting this from someone else." Priya said as she broke the hug.

"Di what difference does it make if I say or Heer?" Prem winked.

"Ohhh is it? Heer why don't you come over to home and take besan ke ladoo I made" Priya offered.

"Nooo only I have rights on them" Prem shouted.

"Com'mon Prem what difference does it make you or Heer" She nudged him.

"Well ok. I'm sure Heer will share with me" Prem pulled her closer to him as he rested his hand over her shoulder.

"Heer, just ignore their fights. Welcome to the family… Finally, I'm getting a company. You know when these two are around, they just fight like five year old kids no matter how old they get" Ram told her.

"Di see who is complaining. Its jeej, who always let us into fight and walk away…" Prem and Priya grouped together.

Heer enjoyed herself, as she started to bond with the family.

It was lunch time, all of them sat together to eat and discussed about things to be done. It was decided that the marriage would take place after three months, keeping in view the busy schedules of Prem and Heer. Priya and Ram left, Balraaj and Lalit sat to watch cricket as India-England test match started, Teji and Gayatri were making a list of things to be done. Seeking the opportunity, Heer and Prem left to her room.

As soon as they reached, Prem pulled her into his arms and closed the door.

"Premm" Heer uttered as she felt herself being pulled.

"I just can't stay away from you." Prem whispered into her ears.

"Oh really, I thought you needed time. You fixed the date after three months." Heer made a face.

"Oh so you're angry with me now for delaying the date." He said as he rested his chin on her shoulder, hugging her from back.

"I know it's' too long but I just wanted to spend some time like this, knowing more about each other, sneaking out, the excitement to meet each other." He went on.

"It seems like you planned a lot of things." She said with a smile.

"Yes and make sure you're not going to mess anything." He told her seriously.

"Heer can I ask you something?" He asked pulled her into his lap.

"Yea" She said playing with her fingers.

"When did you actually start to like me?" He asked tracing her earlobe with his lips.

"Hmm to be honest… the first time I saw you, and later every time we met it grew n grew… because it was meant to be" She reached up to his lips and sealed them with hers.

The rest of the time was spent watching albums, sharing anecdotes of their lives and lots of hugs and kisses.
