this is such a cool idea! a post to celebrate 18 june 2008! and those memories captured in such beautiful ways. what a great job, you guys.
everyone written so much about this. let me tell you what i remember of that day from three years ago.
i remember that we all loved prem so very much -- heer too -- but prem had caught everyone with that killer "kyunki mein tumsey pyaar karta hoon!''. i mean, this was prem. the dutiful son, the focussed business man, perpetually spouting promises to his father more than anyone else on the show. 😆 i thought that it was sooo touching that heer could actually make him do anything, even against his own iron will. that day of his confession, when he also said "mein bhagwan nehi hoon", he stole my heart. *which btw, i am not sure i have got back yet! do you think i should write to him for it? 😆*
but after that, what almost everyone thought was that prem would never go against his father. that he would get married to ashlesha. i remember that everyone was sooo sure of that! there were more people who thought that maybe heer would not get married to mad manmeet because prem would at least make sure of that.
but almost no one had any hope that prem's marriage to ashlesha would not happen. *almost no one except... 😃*
and so, when he exploded off the podium to shout at his father that he would not let heer's marriage happen, and then! ashlesha said she wouldn't get married to him! -- oh! -- the joy on the phorum!! and then!!! then when in front of the entire crowd, prem held heer to his side like she was truly his other half -- something that he had finally found after so many years, so well did they fit together! -- and said that he would destroy the world if they even dared to think badly of her. there had never been a hero like prem. we couldn't believe it! a balaji show! where the hero had the courage to stand for his love.
there was never a lover like prem for most people after that.
he was magical.
and the funny thing is that no matter what prem did after that made no sense whatsoever, we forgave him for that.
all because of 18th june.
what a guy! what fire! what a love.
prem changed tv history that day. seriously! 😆 and i dont' think anyone else has ever had such an effect ever after.
* of course, considering that i have really never watched any show after that, apologies are due if there have been such guys (or girls for that matter). *
