Chapter One: Prem's insides were bursting with happiness. Yes! He would see this girl everyday now!*******************************
Heer was at home, cooking dinner for herself and her sister, Meher, who was still studying at university. Being the sole breadwinner for the two of them had been really stressful, especially after their parents had died, but Heer had pulled through and she was really desperate for this job, or any job she could find as a means of income for her and her brother.
"Hi Heer di!, Mmmm. That smells soo good!" Meher exclaimed, as she stepped into the house, throwng her books and backpack onto the chair, Sitting on the countertop, Meher grabbed a carrot and began munching away. "OH YEAH! You had an interview today, right? How did it go?"
Heer just looked at her sister, who was bubbling over with excitement. "What am I supposed to say Meher? Everyone else there was dressed in such modern clothes, and there I was with my salwar. There's no way they would hire someone like me. The Junejas. I'll just have to try for something smaller."
Sighing, she stepped out into the living room, and she saw all of Meher's stuff. "MEHER! How many times do I have to tell you not to leave your stuff lying around? We pay money for all of this, and money doesn't grow on trees. I hope you do realize that! Uff What am I going to do with you?" Heer was mad, and getting annoyed so easily. Meher didn't know what the issue was, but she sure did know to run as quickly as she could and clean the place up.
"Woh. Woh.. I'm so sorry di. Last time. I promise. Just forgive me this once" pleaded Meher as she quickly picked everything up and put it in its proper place.
Before Heer could say anything though, she heard her cell phone ringing. "Ugh. Who can it possibly be now?" she muttered to herself, making her way to the phone.
"Hi. Is this Ms. Heer Maan?" asked the voice on the other end, which sounded vaguely familiar to Heer, who couldn't figure out who it was.
"Um um Yes. May I know who this is?" questioned Heer, slightly confused.
"Oh.Oh sorry beta, I forgot to introduce myself. I'm Mrs. Gayatri Juneja, from Juneja Group of Industries. You had come in earlier for the interview for personal secretary?" Gayatri asked, smiling at how polite and respectful this girl seemed. Gayatri sure did like her.
"Oh Sorry Mam. I…yeah…is there anything I can help you with?" Heer asked, her heart rate increasing drastically as she realized why Mrs. Juneja might be calling.
"I want to congratulate you. You have been offered the post, as I've felt that you would be the best fit one for the job. Would you be willing to accept the offer?" question Gayatri, hoping and praying Heer would say yes.
Before Heer said anything though, Meher screamed in her ear. She had been listening to the entire conversation and was overwhelmed with happiness. "Diiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. Say yesss!" Meher screamed, unable to stop herself.
"Shhhh Meher. Be quiet and let me talk" whispered Heer, slightly scolding her sister.
"Han Mrs. Juneja, I would be glad to accept the offer" said Heer as she turned back her attention to the conversation. Gayatri slightly chuckled, hearing Heer and Meher and their excitement. "So I'll see you tomorrow at 9 am. Sharp. Just ask the receptionist for me, ok?"
"Yes of course Ma'am. I'll see you at 9 am" and with that, they had both hung up. Heer's face seemed to glow from excitement! She finally had a job, that too at a good company. She couldn't be happier and she knew her parents would be proud. Meher was beside herself with excitement. "Diiiiiiiiiii! We have to go celebrate, ok? This weekend, you're taking me out to dinner!"
Heer just smiled and nodded, and the two sisters headed off to bed, both excited for the upcoming days. Heer, with the excitement of the job, had forgotten completely about the man she had bumped into earlier in the day. However, he was consumed by her thoughts.
Preeeeeem. You have got to stop thinking about her. Who knows what kind of a girl she is? No. Even if she's going to work for you, maintain your distance. Prem thought to himself, as her image seemed to be continually poppng into his brain every time he closed his eyes.

The next morning, Heer arrived at the office at exactly 8:45 and decided to wait as she was early. After dropping off Meher at her college, Heer arrived, nervous and jittery for her first day at work.
"Ms. Maan? Mrs. Juneja is calling you into the office" said the same receptionist from yesterday, wondering why this girl was here again.
Heer headed into the same cabin, and she gave a nervous, shaky smile to Gayatri, who just smiled warmly. "Take a seat beta, I'll just call my son, and he'll give you all the directions as to what he wants done and how he wants it done"
"Maya, Can you call Prem up to my cabin?" said Gayatri, talking to the receptionist.
And so Heer sat and waited, wondering who her new boss would be, and if she would be good for the job. The tension was obvious on her face, and Gayatri suddenly walked up to her, put her hand on her shoulder, and said "Heer beta, Trust me, there's nothing to be nervous about. I promise, my son doesn't bite."
Just then, they heard a knock on the door, and Gayatri moved back to her seat. He slowly opened the door and peered in, "Can I come in?"
Gayatri just smiled and nodded, indicating with her hands for him to enter. Heer didn't turn around to look, not knowing what to say.
"Heer, this is Prem Juneja, the MD of this company, and your boss. You'll be acting as his personal secretary."
"Prem, this is Heer Maan, and she's qualified for this position. Give her some time and I can assure you she'll do her best in this position."
The two then turned to look at each other. Once again, prem faced those captivating eyes, the eyes that had haunted him throughout the night, the beautiful face that had not left his thoughts since the previous afternoon. Heer was shocked, utterly shocked, to be looking at the man she had bumped into the previous afternoon.
Oh God! What did I do yesterday? He's the man I'm going to be working with? He probably thinks I'm clumsy and foolish! Heer thought to herself.
Gayatri's voice suddenly broke the two out of their thoughts. "Prem beta, why don't you show Heer around the office? I know you don't have any meetings till two and she'll be able to become familiar with you, I mean your style of working" she smiled.
Prem and Heer could do nothing but nod, and looking at each other nervously, Prem asked "Chalein?" and Heer got up, ready to take this tour with the most handsome man she had ever seen, or so she thought.
